  1. To add to that, previously the HTML tags showed up while editing, so that one could, for example, quote a sentence, reply to that sentence, quote another sentence, reply to that sentence, etc., by inserting the appropriate tags. Is it (or can it be) possible to see and manipulate the HTML tags while editing with the new editor?

Yes, although HTML is not allowed (for security reasons). What you can do is see the BBCode tags by clicking the light switch icon in the upper-left of the editor.

  2. Architectural has averaged about one thread a week for the life of the category. Shouldn't it have gotten sucked up into something else?

Believe me, I considered it ;-)

Honestly, as Amy said, it doesn't matter what we do, some people will like it, some won't. It's just how it is.

The good news is, all members have the ability to create polls in our forums if you want to get a feel of others' opinions on something.

  3. If your data shows 3 posts per month in the powered subwoofer section then you have bad data.

I don't have time to go back and get the exact number. My point is that was one forum with minimal activity that was on the list to consolidate. If there is vocal majority of opposition to this, and we see that there is a need based on post activity, we will add a subwoofer sub-forum again.

It's hard to believe that the Pro-audio category had more traffic than the Subwoofer category.

I'm not sure there was, however we have the separate Pro Audio forum because it is linked from our Pro Audio website at http://www.klipsch.com/pro

  4. Somehow it seemed like the most popular categories were on top, and descended in popularity as you went down the page (with a couple exceptions).

This is exactly one reason why things were restructured. People don't seem to want to scroll... with 20+ forums, there was a lot to get through.

  6. Chad, if you're married, go home tonight and change the location of all your dishes in the cupboards. Then go to the bedroom and move all your clothes from drawer to drawer. Be sure your wife is not home when you do it. Report back tomorrow on her reaction :o Some things work just fine the way they are.

I'm married, but I do my own laundry.

  7. Here's the thing... before we consolidated some forums into others, there were 26 visible sub-forums. Many of which had MAYBE an average of about 3 posts per month, if that. The old "powered subwoofer" forum was one of those.

These older sub-forums really didn't need to be separated out, based on activity. It makes sense to have things more simplified.

Now there are 15 visible forums.

Nothing that is being done here is random or done without a great deal of thought and purpose behind it.

  9. In an effort to consolidate and focus forum content, we've moved some things around, combining several previously too-specific forums into other forums where it made sense to do so. No posts were deleted in this process, only moved.

So, here's how the new forum structure breaks down and where things were combined/renamed).

    Klipsch Announcements

    Klipsch News (formerly "Announcements")

Klipsch Pilgrimage / Meetups (formerly "Klipsch Pilgrimage")

Klipsch Website & Forums Info (Combination of former forums "Website" and "Forums")

    Klipsch Audio

    2-Channel Home Audio

Home Theater (now includes the old "Palladium" and "Powered Subwoofers" forums)

    Architectural

Klipsch Pro Audio (moved away from its own forum section)

Technical/Modifications (a combination of the old "Technical Questions", "Updates & Modifications", and "General Electronics" forums)

    Headphones

Personal Music Systems (a combination of the old "Computer Speakers" and "iPod Speakers" forums)

General Klipsch Questions & Info (now includes the old "Vintage Vault" and "Accessories" forums)

The Klipsch Joint (formerly "Other Areas of Interest")

    Garage Sale

    Alerts

Lounge (combination of the old "What else is on you mind", "Music/Movies", "Sports", "Computers/Gaming" forums)

    Right This Minute

As you can see, there is much smaller number of forums to weed through. We feel this will help everyone in various ways.

    Thanks everyone!

  10. If I log into the forum and go straight to my private messages, the drop down opens and I gat the revolving load symbol (circled spinning arrow). The PM's never load. I have to go into a forum category (2 channel, garage sale etc) and then go to PM's to read the mail. Is this normal?

    Thanks, Carl

No, it's not normal. Could be a database optimization issue. I'll look into it. Thanks for the report.

  11. Yes but now your link must now be shown as the web address, you use to be able to write something else rather than the web address but now you can't anymore it can only be displayed as the web address.

Try typing the link text you want, highlighting it, then clicking the Link button and add the URL. That should work.

  12. You'll need to resize and/or optimize the photos before you upload here if they are too big. The forum will not optimize the photos for you*. There is a 2MB limit per photo.

Otherwise, you can use one of the tons of free photo hosting sites that are out there. Flickr, Photobucket, etc.

    * Edited for clarification:

The forum will not optimize post attachments for you (it does however create the thumbnail image).

However, the gallery does resize and compress uploaded photos. The photo you upload still must be 2MB or smaller in file size.

  13. The old forum used to allow you to highlight a portion of someone's comments, and then, when you pushed the Quote button, only the selected portion was quoted. That was cool. Is this something which the new forum will allow? Right now, you quote, the whole thing comes in, and you have to delete all around the portion you want to save.

Not that I'm aware of. Sorry!
