  1. Thanks for the help DrWho. I'll give that a try.
  2. Thank you for the inut DrWho. I've never cleaned the laser. How do I go about doing this and what do I need to buy?
  3. It always stops at 5 min 43 sec. If I fast forward for just a second, it continues on and stops at 41min 02 sec and again at 48 min 52 sec. Always at these same times. The rest of the film plays fine. I've had DVD's stop before and when I got a new one from the store, all was fine. Not with this one. Thanks for getting back to me DrWho.
  4. Hello, I purchased the AVP Unrated DVD from Best Buy and I'm having trouble with it freezing up. This is the third disc I try. I returned the 1st and 2nd ones. Each disc freezes up at exactly 5 min 43 sec. All three discs stop at the exact same time. Also, this happens only if I choose the Unrated DTS version. The DD Unrated and the DTS and DD Theatrical versions play fine. I have a Denon DVD-2900 which plays all of my DVD's with no problems. Odd thing is, I put the disc in my sons $300 Sony and it played fine. Go figure Does anyone think it is a player problem? Or a DVD problem? Thanks for any input.
  5. Well, inserting a link didn't work [] I'll type it in this time http://www.btech-usa.com/bt77.htm
  6. Hello ironwoods, I hooked my sons sub speaker wire to the KSW line level input and it worked fine [] He now has a big smile on his face! The small satellite speakers of his system do sound SMALL but he seems very happy with the sound. Thank you for the help.
  7. Hi westcott, I agree with you on waiting, but it seems like the latest and the greatest isn't that way for very long. There always seems to be something BETTER on the horizon. Usually I'll make a decision after a lot of research, and opinions from owners of the product I'm considering. Then it comes down to what is in the old wallet []. Klipsch Reference speakers are fantastic! I wouldn't own anything else. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours [*].
  8. Thanks for the info ironwoods. I'll try the setup you suggested. If he wants a better system, It'll have to come out of his pocket. [] I've upgraded my system from Synergy to Reference over the last 4 or 5 years. I jumped up in receiver and DVD player quality also. Originally I had the front effects set to off until I could find a Reference speaker that would fit my system. The RB-15's fit the bill and sound fantastic! I think it really opens up the front sound stage. As you know, everything has to fit the pocket book and I think the system I have put together sounds awesome. For me, the only thing left is a High Def TV set. What I really want is a Sony SXRD. The only problem I have with the 2 sets they are offering is the speakers on the side. It makes the set two wide. I'm waiting for them to offer one (60 inch) with the speakers on the bottom. After that I may get the upgrade bug again (a DVD player that will up convert to 1080 []. Thanks for your help.
  9. Hi Irnwoods, Will my sons reciever drive the KSW-12 if I hook up the speaker wire to the line level input or will the built in amp of the KSW take the signal and amplify it? I have 2 SVS subs and I use the LFE output from my reciever to send the signal to the subs. In my sons case, his reciever is driving the sub that came with his 5.1 package.
  10. Hi, My son has a small Sony 5.1 surround system (everything came in one box) and he wanted to know if he could use my KSW-12 sub (which I am not using) with his system. The sub that came with his system isn't powered and only has one (+ -) speaker wire going to it. Is it possible to use the KSW-12, and if so, how would I wire it up? Thanks for any info.
  11. Thanks for all the input people. I guess I'll have to set it manually if it doesn't pick it up on AUTO. Hey toddvj! It was just a tyop, but it does fit Thanks again
  12. Hi, I have a Yamaha RXV-3300 reciever and I have a question for anyone who might have experienced the same problems I have. When I set my reciever to AUTO it should automatically play what ever surround mix I choose from the setup menu, but I seem to be having trouble with the DD EX mode. My reciever isn't picking up the rear surround channel. I have to manualy set the reciever to MATRIX 6.1 to get the rear surround to play. I found this to be true for all but one DVD labled with a DD 5.1 EX track ( Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets). All DTS modes work fine, 6.1 Discrete included. Is anyone else having this problem, and is the Matrix 6.1 mode the same as the AUTO EX mode? Thanks for any input.
  13. Hey gcoker, The speaker is ripped. The other one looks fine. The speaker is up high and the stinking cat likes it up there. It only goes up there when I'm not around. I've got to find some way of keeping it off. Thanks for responding. Mike
  14. Hey Rick, I haven't been to the new Tweeter store yet. I bought my reference speakers when they were trying to get rid of their stock. I got them at a good price and I'm realy happy with my Klipsch speakers. Klipsch Support, e-mailed back to me and gave me a 1-800 number to call for price and availability. Thanks for the input. Mike
  15. Hey Rick, Thanks for the advice. I'm going to start taking the driver out now. I live in Warwick. Bought almost all of my Klipsch speakers at Tweeters. Then they dropped the brand and I had to go up to Worchester to get my RB-15's. I'd like to see more dealers in the area. Just in case I want to upgrade to floor standing speakers. Well, thanks again. Mike
  16. Hi, I have a RC-3II that I use as a rear center and one of the woofers has been damaged (cat infestation!). Can anyone tell me how or where I can get it repaired? Can a speaker be purchased seperately and is it easy to install? I live in Rhode Island. If there is someone in the area that could give me some advice, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks for any help.
  17. Thanks meuge, I do have my speakers set to small. I don't own a 5.0 DVD yet, but I wanted to pick up "Gettysburg" to go along with "Gods and Generals". It has a 5.0 sound track. Now that I know what to expect, I'm going to pick it up. Thanks for the info.
  18. Hello people, This might be a dumb question but it's one I've been trying to figure out for a while. I have Book Shelf type speakers and the subs handle the low end. If a sound track doesn't have a .1 low effects channel, where will the low frequency sound come from? Will I still get the low end through my subs, Or will I have to change some settings to send the low end to the subs? Thanks for any insight.

  21. Hi Bruinsrme, Thanks for the offer, but I don't have the room for a PB2. That baby takes up a lot of space. I'll have just enough room for the PB1 up front and a cylinder in the back.
  22. I'm about to order the SVS PB1-ISD, which I am going to place in the front of the room. I also want to add another sub in the back of the room. I was thinking of the 2039PCI-Plus or the 2039 PCI. I hope some of the forum readers can help me choose which one. Erik from SVS says either one will be fine if I leave them set for 20HZ. Since I don't have that big of a room 15x18, do you think I'll need the extra power of the 2039PCI-Plus over the 2039PCI? My original thought was to get the Plus and set it to 16HZ but Erik said they usualy recommend the same tuning frequency for both subs. Or how about 2 PB1's? I just thought the PCI Plus would get me a little lower if needed and would be much easier to fit in the back of my room. I could get the box sub in the back but a cylinder would fit better. Thanks for any help.
  23. I can't figure out why someone would even start a thread like this! Denon, Yamaha, HK, and so on and so on. Who cares! Everyone has different tastes. For all we know, we might all hear something different. Be happy with what you have and don't put anyone else down. I think this forum is great. Let's keep it that way. Happy Holidays!
  24. Thanks for responding toddvj. I thought that might be the answers to my questions, but I just had to ask.
