  1. Hi All, I thought I would let you all know before I ebay that I have a pair of 1990 Klipshorns for sale. These are 1990 model with the AK-3 crossover. They are finished in walnut oiled. They are in very to excellent condition. Asking price is 2000.00. If interested please email me. I will send you pics then (I had trouble trying to upload but will try later). I will also throw in a free harmon K 15 watt/ch integrated tube amp in good working condition (new tubes). I am located in San Antonio, Tx Thanks Sorry but I am missing 1 side grill to one of the speakers
  2. I listen to old and modern jazz, classical and vintage rock. Now my girlfriend likes country, pop music and rock like Metallica and as well as vintage rock. She also likes tejano (I am from San Antonio). So you see that I have access to a variety of music! Honestlty just about everything I throw at the Khorns sound excellent. I rarely listen to the Logans anymore and at one time sold them but my friend wanted his money back because he wanted horns after he heard mine! I guess the reason I bring this up is because at times certain amps sound the same to me ( mainly SS stuff) so I am wondering if it is just me or I quite don't know what to listen for to say one amp is better than another. I will admit that this question came up because I started reading Stereophile and they go in to great lengths to describe the sound of certain components. They reference specifics recordings quite a bit. They however, never review Klipsch and since they sound quite different than the Logans, I cant quite relate to the magazine. Anyway, anything that you or anybody else uses for reference is what I am looking for. I'm just trying to make a great thing better if at all possible.
  3. Hi, I've been reading the forum comments for a few months now about how some members like certain amps (ss or tube)for certain reasons. I was wondering if I could get input on what recordings to use when trying to determine difference between amps. I will be using a pair of 1990 Klipshorns, 1979 LaScala's, and Martin Logan Aries I for reference to inputs received. The amps I have access to are A Krell 300i, Mac MC50, and Dynaco ST-70. (The speakers I own. My friend(s) own the amps and I want to get an idea on how I want my system to grow). I currently use a cheap Sony receiver. I am mainly looking for specific passages within a recording to listen for when breaking down... Bass Midrange Treble If possible, also a discription of what I should hear(or not hear). I know that this is a bit to ask but isn't this what it's all about! Thanks in advance

Has anyone heard these before?
  6. Hi Michael, My Vette is a 2000 model. It comes with the Bose/Delco head unit that is integrated into the system computer for memory recall (different driver recall). The door panel has a 3 inch mid/tweet speaker as well as a sepately powered 8 inch subwoofer. The rear has 6.5 inch full range drivers. These drivers are all suppose to be have a rated impedence of 1 ohm! A year ago, I replaced the head unit with A Sony SE in dash. Everyone at the Vette forum stated that if the head unit is replaced then, the drivers will need to be also because of the speakers impendence. Well, I didn't listen and went ahead and installed it, interfacing to the Bose speakers. I tapped into the amp for the door 8 inch subwoofers with the subwoofer level output from the Sony head unit. So far, I havn't had any issues. The reason I think I can get away with it so far is because of the built in crossovers of the head unit. I have the speakers crossed at 150 hz. I think this stresses the amp of the head unit a lot less. The head unit swap alone made a huge difference. This is why I really have not looked into replacing the drivers. Only recently, I was introduced into the world of Klipsch. I bought a pair of Lascalas about 3 months ago and now I am hooked on that "live" sound that these produce. Needless to say, the Bose speakers in my car don't do it for me anymore...not that they ever did but the stereo was not that inportant to me because I like hearing the engine more than the stereo when I first got the car. Thats why I wanted to know which speakers satisfy the "Klipsch" crowd in thier car. No recently I got a set of some old Herseys that I am thinking I can build some custom enclosures to install the drivers into. I know it will have to be rear fill and wont have the proper stereo imaging but what the hell, if I can get something in my car that sounds like my Lascalas then I will be a happy man! Its all about fun when it comes to my car and my music! Thx Ernesto
  7. Hi , Thanks for all the suggestions. I got on a Vette forum and they all seem to like the MB Quarts so I may look into those. Someone also made the suggestion here on this forum to try some inwalls that Klipsch makes. That actually has me most intrigued. I think if I can pick up a set on Ebay for a good price, I may give that a shot. The doors utilize an 8 inch subwoofer system so there is plenty of room to make custom plates if I remove them. Again, thanks and I will update when I upgrade from the Bose (it shouldn't be that difficult ) Ernesto
  8. I actually do have plans of sticking a pair of Heresys in my SUV. I will post pics and how it sounds when I do. I was then going to put some K77 tweets in the front to offload a total rear fill only sound. I have a feeling though that I may want to drive the truck more than the car once I do this! Has anyone ever "adapt" some Klipsch speakers inot thier vehicle? Ernesto
  9. Hi, Thanks for the welcome. Basically I was looking for brand names to look into. I really haven't been a "Klipsch" audiophile till recently. I just love the way they sound and was wondering if there's anything I can put in my car to give me the same thrill. Thx Ernesto
