  1. I hear you.

Think about the target audience at Best Buy. . .

People come in and buy $5k computers and flat panel TV's, then the Best Buy people come in and say "Hey check out our Audio Department!"

I guess it's kinda like being on drugs. . . except for the whole destroying your body/life thing. You wake up one morning with no money and look for stuff to sell to get that McIntosh amp. It's like an ongoing cycle

  2. I didn't know they had Athena's!! May have to check them out when I get motivated enough to drive out to BB.

Anyway, yeah the WM-40 sound's like the model #. Just fill that thing with some poly fil and you've got a good sub for the same price as a diploma frame.

  3. From my experience this is what I would recommend. . .

If your looking for precise reproduction of say "The 1812th Overture" and are willing to do some mods, Image Dynamics makes some killer mobile audio equipment for exactly that. But like Empire said, they're a pain do put in yourself and very $$$ (at least the horns). Look into the IDQ subs to fill out the bottom end.

But if you're looking just to replace the stock speakers in those locations, I'd go with Focal or MB Quart.

Of course you'll need a new head unit and external amps to get the SQ in the car anywhere close to at home (Clarion and Soundstream are my picks respectively).

  4. So here's a question. . .

What are your personal favorite speakers at Best Buy??

    Here are mine:

Bookshelf: Bose 301V - Probably the only Bose speaker my ear likes

Sub: the 12" Sony - Great value, sounded good, so I bought one (online, not at BB, didn't want some kid to bug me about buying one of those plan things, cheaper too with shipping)

Those are the only 2 I like, haven't been there in a really long time so I haven't checked out the Synergy line.

Plus, when I worked there back in '97, they sold some killer Eosone's. Looked and sounded great. Pricey and could handle a lot of RMS power. Big fan of the entire line.
