I like really good music.
MR. JIMI HENDRIX knew how to use distortion.....................Makes no difference how you listen, SET's, VRD's, good old SS high power watts, radio, boom boxes, Vinyl, CD's.....................HENDRIX KNEW HOW TO MAKE DISTORTION WORK FOR HIM.......................................
He sure did! And, I want to reproduce that distortion without distortion.[

I don't know but I have a feeling it's the muse by the turntable that adds the "magic". All who see her are set into a trance in which even I would sound like Pavoritti .

24 1/2" to the top of the bass bin, 25 1/2 " to the top of the bin with the spacer attached.

Kevin Cut Throat and the DR are on the right track. Try loosening wiggling and retightening all the screws on your crossover's terminal strip. If that doesn't work, swap the xovers side to side. If the problem follows the xover, it's time for an overhaul. If the problem stays in that speaker, one of the drivers needs a new diaphram. The next spep would be narrowing it down to the culprit.

Here is a good first time amp builder's project. The board is made by Shannon Parks of DIYTube.com and is of excelent qualityand great support on his forum. You'd probabaly need to add $300 up to $400 for transformers (or a Dynaco SCA-35 donor), chassis, switches, etc. This was the first amp I built from scratch when I retired. It is playing now on my Belles!-)
I went a bit beyond with mine adding off the board biasing and, since this picture was taken, a choke to the power supply.

Yes, it's the Triode Elcetronics board. The schematic is below. There is definately room for improvement. I was playing them tonight with one of Dmitry's albums. The Wrights were sitting on a Belle, he pointed to them and said "those are better." We swapped them around listened to a few Dylan cuts and some Zappa "Live 1971". He was surprized an old coot like me would have Zappa in his vinyl collection.-)
Anyhow, here's the schematic:

No it was millivolts across 10 Ohms or 70 mA on GE Gold 6550s. Please pardon my fuax pas.
Both are done. They sound a bit less annalitical, slightly warmer and the triode operation mode has greater effect, opening up the soundstage considerably compared to ultralinear mode.
Now to chase a slight ground loop, where are my cheater plugs?-)

Well Craig, I just changed the power supply on one of the amps. Wound up with 480 VDC with bias set at 700mA spec.
Now for the other one..............

Sorry Mike - Been busy playing with stuff. I said above. Khorns (and some stuff - pkg deal type). Pretty ones too IMO. I might decorate them for Xmas. They are sitting in the middle of my living room and I'm not moving those beasts again for a while.
I would've thought that by now you were attached to poop brown.
