  1. Sorry to bring this one back from the dead. In searching the archives for "speaker stand" for the RC-xx series, I didn't see this link mentioned, so I thought I'd share it for those who need a stand for their Reference centers. I just ran across http://www.standsandmounts.com/index.asp, who has a section for center speaker stands specifically, as well as "regular" speaker stands broken down into very useful (and unusual) height categories. For those looking for a single, pre-manufactured 13" stand, this seems like a good place to know. Best regards, ~~Nathan
  2. Unfortunately, I have yet to purchase anything from Melton's (usually out of stock on my impulse buy items), but the people are *so* friendly. I wish all the Atlanta merchants were like them in that regard.
  3. Couple more Atlanta dealers while we're at it: TechHomes, Inc. (actually in Acworth, near Wade Green Rd.) Melton's Pro Sound (Norcross, off Jimmy Carter Blvd)
  4. If not taken, I'd like pics of the LF-10, as well. My email is nathan_r AT atlhometheater DOT com Thanks. ~~Nathan
  5. The WAF prevents me from mounting them at ear level on the side walls. Let me try to describe the back wall situation a bit differently: Take your back wall and imagine pushing it back 7 inches. Now remove that entire wall except for the top 8 inches of it, as shown in the terrible cross-section below. The roughly 7"x8" area is where the speakers would be mounted either facing downward on top of the listening area or outward toward the screen firing above the listening area. / ceiling / /--------------------------- / / / beam / (7"h x 8"w opening) / / (for speaker) /-------------/ (open space) (down to floor)
  6. Hi all, I recently purchased my RF-35s and now I'm utterly spoiled. I'm toying with the idea of axing my Def Tech Pro Monitor 80s in favor of a pair of RS-25s (the RS-35s would be too big for my space unfortunately). However, I have a few questions. I have no back wall in the entertainment room, but I have a "decorative" beam (not a support beam) where the back wall would be. This is roughly two or three feet behind my listening position and 8 feet up. The beam is about 8 inches high and is set back about 7 inches. Currently my two Def Techs are facing each other 20 feet apart on the side walls and parallel to the beam 8' up. If I were to get a pair of RS-25s, which of the following (or any other suggestions) would I need to pursue: 1) Mount the RS-25s facing downward in the 7" gap so they fire just behind the listening position 2) Mount the RS-25s in the same place as the Def Techs. However one side would be firing directly into the beam. 3) Mount the RS-25s on swivel mounts in the same place as the Def Techs but turned 45 degrees towards the listening position. This would mean the sides would fire along the beam and along the outer walls. 4) Stick with the Def Techs for now, collect donations, and build a dedicated HT room soon, and restock it with RF-7s all around. Anyone have any advice? Thanks and best regards, ~~Nathan
  7. Same problem here, but I found a cheap solution ($70): http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-9797&qp=0&bookmark=bookmark_10&oid=68188 I saw them online and thought they looked too small, but CC is using them to support their samed-sized Infinities in the store I visited today. Just get some some tacky glue to ensure they stay on. So far, so good. Best regards, ~~Nathan
  8. I keep forgetting the difference. Thanks for pointing that out! I just assumed I'd have an easier time finding the v2's, but maybe that's not the case. With that said, I'm still looking for a pair of either set. Someone here surely has the upgrade bug. Best regards, ~~Nathan
  9. Hi all, First post here. I've lurked for a while. I'm looking for a pair of Klipsch RF-3 or RF-3II floorstanding speakers (with grills and no broken pegs). My budget is getting low these days, but I can offer trades plus cash. I have: -- 1 black Zinwell Brite-View scaler (upconverts 480i to 480p, 720p, 1080i). This unit outputs RGB or YPbPr via a standard VGA port. It doesn't do RGB very well, but the component output is stellar! Will include manual, remote, and vga->YPbPr breakout cable -- 1 Key Digital KD-VTCA2 -- 1 black Definitive Technology ProSub 80 with manual. -- 1 Pioneer DVL-700 LD/DVD player (which needs a little work-- probably just a laser alignment) with remote. I'll have to see if I have the manual-- I believe so, though. Lord knows who would want to do this, but I also have my current pair of Klipsch SF-1s, if you need to trade for something smaller. I also have a spare SC-1 center, which has a slightly dented tweeter. It still sounds great, though. I can add a few hundred bucks with any of the trades. I'm new here, but I have positive feedback on eBay (user: pastis) and Home Theater Forum. If AVS kept a good traders list, I'd be there, too. Help me if you can! I can be reached at nathan_r AT atlhometheater DOT com or here on the forum. Thanks and best regards, ~~Nathan
