  2. Ok. lowered the price once more. come on folks?? Not even any offers??
  3. Hello academy owners. I have a question for you all. I am wondering what setting, either large or small, everyone has found to make their academy sound and perform the best. Please let me know what setting you have your academy set to and why you chose this setting. Thanks. Brent
  4. Hello. Could you please tell me if there is really that big of a difference between the original Fortes and the Forte IIs? I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks. Brent
  5. You can call me anytime at (817) 903-9509. Thanks. Brent
  6. I will soon be selling my light oak Klipsch KV-3 center channel speaker. It is in perfect working and physical condition. Could anyone please let me know how much I could hope to get out of this speaker? Any help would be appreciated. I am probably going to be putting it on ebay. Thanks. Brent
  7. I currently have Klipsch Forte II speakers for my mains, Klipsch KG-1 speakers for my surrounds and a Klipsch KV-3 for my center. For my sub, I have a JBL PV-12 downfiring subwoofer. My question is this. Would I notice that much of a difference if I went to a Klipsch KSW-12 and got rid of my JBL? Would it be worth the extra money? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Brent
  8. Well, I know there is a ton of people out there looking for an Academy center channel speaker. Guess it is time to throw my hat in the ring. I have resigned myself to the fact that I am going to have to cough up some bucks for one but ultimately, I think it will be worth it. So, if anyone hears of one for sale or is selling one, please keep me in mind. I also have a nice oak KV-3 center channel speaker that I would trade toward the Academy. Oh, and I have a nice Sony ES prologic receiver that I could use as part trade also. I know what everyone says about Sony but this is the higher ES line. Anyway, just thought I would throw out my query and maybe, eventually, get lucky and find an Academy. Thanks. Brent
  9. I would like to thank everyone here for giving me there recommendations as to how to solve my center channel problem. I want to apologize also because I just went back and looked and realized that you guys have discussed this topic many times before and I am sorry for you having to repeat yourselves. I should have checked before I asked. I guess I am resigned to the fact now that I am going to have to spend the money for an Academy center. So, this being said, if anyone knows of one for sale or hears of one for sale, I would appreciate you letting me know. I will continue to watch ebay but haven't seen one in awhile. Thanks again everyone and maybe some day, my center channel woes will be over. Or, at least, after I shell out the $400, they will be over. Guess I could always use my oak KV-3 as part trade. I also have a nice Sony ES receiver that I could possibly use for trade as well. Anyway, please keep me in mind guys if you come across one for sale. Brent
  10. First of all, could someone please tell me why the heck the Academy center is so freaking expensive? Second, does anyone know someone who can make me a center speaker by converting the Forte II like the above person suggested. I am blind and totally without sight and do not want to attempt this. It could be very ugly. (smile) Thanks. Brent
  11. Well, that would be nice. But, I was kind of hoping for a little smaller solution to the problem. I have size and wife constraints to deal with. If you know what I mean. (smile) Any other suggestions? Thanks. Brent
  12. I was wondering if anyone would know if it would be possible to take an old Forte II speaker and make a center channel out of it. I currently have Klipsch Forte II speakers for my front and the only thing that I could get to somewhat match is a Klipsch KV-3 center channel. I still am not crazy about the match and was wondering if it would be possible to take an old Forte II and make it into a center channel to match my other Forte II speakers. I know this sounds crazy but it is worth asking. If I needed to use my KV-3 for some of the speaker and put the Forte II components in it, is that possible? Thanks. Brent
  13. Does anyone know where I might find a Klipsch KV-4 center channel speaker for sale? I have looked on ebay and it seems that this speaker is a very tough one to find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Feel free to email me at harbolt@comcast.net if you have any suggestions or ideas. Brent

  15. Hello. My first experience with Harman Kardon was over 13 years ago. Back then, you could only by HK through an independent dealer of sorts. My first HK was purchased out of the back of a guy's house. Of course it was before all the surround sound and digital stuff. I never had one problem with that unit and to this day, my parents still use it every day without problems. A couple of years after I bought my first HK, my brother bought one also. Again, never a single problem and to this day it still works great. Two years ago, I finally decided to get a nice surround sound, digital receiver. I went with Harman Kardon because of all the good luck in the past. But, a lot has changed these days. Now, everybody and their dog sells HK and because they have gone so commercial, I believe their quality has really suffered. About a month ago, of course after warranty was up, my svideo went out on the HK. I am so frustrated with this that I could have a HK for 13 years and nothing go wrong and now I have one for two and a half years, and already something is wrong. I am now currently looking to replace this receiver and have vowed to never by another HK again. It is too bad when companies go so commercial and are so focused on volume that their quality drops. I have talked to high end receiver shops that don't even carry HK any longer because of this reason. So, that is my two cents although it is probably not worth anything. Good luck and hope everything works out for you on the replacement. Brent
  16. Can anyone recommend a good receiver match to my Klipsch speaker system. I currently have Klipsch Forte II speakers for my fronts, KG-1 speakers for my surround, and Klipsch KV-3 for my center. I was looking at the Yamaha rx-v 740 but some say that might be too bright for my already bright speakers. I then was looking at the Marantz sr6300. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on this topic. I don't have the ability to get out and try a lot of different receivers so I want to get it right the first time. Please help. Thanks. Brent
  17. Ok. Is the rule of thumb to set the center whatever your other speakers are set at? So everything is uniform? Thanks. Brent
  18. WOW! That was a heck of a follow up! (smile) Brent
  19. I have a Harman Kardon AVR 510 receiver and a 12 inch downfiring JBL sub. Hope this helps. Thanks. Brent
