  1. IF I had paid by check or some other means then I would half way agree with you. The situation here is PayPal is the middle man or agent that handles Visa transactions. So for example, instead of returning a I shirt to a store, I returned to the seller the smashed POS item the seller sent me. Just like a store that would do a charge back to refund my money for the shirt, I expect PayPal to do a chargeback to the seller as' they' are collecting a 'fee' from the seller to act as an agent to do this. Does the store that you returned the defective shirt from charge you $25 to do a chargeback through Visa? Hell, no they don't. If they did you wouldn't shop there anymore would you? WHY eBay thinks they deserve a cut is beyond me. I did not file a complaint with or through eBay, only with PayPal. They weren't the agent handling the transfer of funds, PayPal was. So where does eBay get off thinking they deserve a cut? It's not like they earned this refund by reclaiming my money had I paid by CHECK, now is it? If that were the case then HELL YES I'd gladly pay them a $25 finders fee. But this is not the case at all. My arguement to eBay is I'm worth far more to them in the long term than this one time $25 "refund reclaimation fee". For if they fail to refund, I will walk and never return as a customer. Too many people in this country just roll over or bend over and let corprorate America stick it to them. If more people stood up and told these companies to "bite me", you'd see more customer appreciation. Problem is P.T Barnum was right. Yes, I'm well aware there's a percentage of BAD customers out there, but I'm not one and I'll be damned if I'll let these companies treat me like one and further reward them with my patronage. Who's stupid enough to get spanked with a paddle and ask " May I have another"? Ok, OK, there are some S&M types out there, but excluding them and the P.T Barnum suckers...who else?
  2. Yeah, it's eBay that's slamming me with the $25 fee, not PayPal. Of course I could have avoided this had I signed up for one of 'their' Visa cards... The real crime in all of this is the poor old lady that files for a $5 loss and eBay hits them with this bogus 'finders fee' of $25. Who needs the Mafia to shake you down when you have eBay?
  3. here's eBays sappy reply. I felt a need to vomit, but regained my composure. I guess what they're trying to say is their fee is really a "Finders Fee" (my words) If I didn't know better I'd swear they were running a law office. Thank you for contacting eBay, My name is Erwyn. As a fellow eBay member, I can empathize with your position and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your concerns. I completely understand your concern in this matter and I'm terribly sorry to hear of your experience on our site and with this seller. Please know that it is our genuine intention for you to have a pleasant and successful buying experience on eBay. We, at eBay, believe that people are basically good.Within the many good buyers and sellers on eBay, there are a few who stray. You are upset over this negative transaction and this is to be expected from a good person. With regard to the cost of filing a Protection Claim, please understand that this $25 cost is not a charge for filing the claim, but rather a cost associated with the processing of a successful claim. As such, this processing cost is only applied if the claim is approved and there is no cost for filing the Protection Claim itself. We are committed to your online trading safety and success and I personally wish you all the best in future transactions . Regards, Erwyn Fraud Prevention Group eBay Trust & Safety I responded in part by saying : Erwyn, You don't understand. There will be no future transactions. I'm one of those customers that walks away from a company that does me wrong and I NEVER go back. I will not trade with anyone or company that does not value me as a customer. Period. What you are telling me in your email is, the thousands of dollars I spend annually is of no value to eBay. For the record I've spent over $700 in the past 60 days alone and it's still Febuary. In my first message I stated, if eBay valued me as a customer they will remove or waive this charge. The amount of money I spend on eBay should more than offset this finder fee you seek. Interesting, this is the first time I have been charged this fee, even though I have sought refunds via PayPal in the past due to other deadbeat sellers. Therefore it seems eBay is very inconsistent in its fee policy. If you can not or will not remove this fee, I ask you to ask a supervisor. Failing that, then I'm am directing eBay to close my account and forever lose me as a customer. So, do you 'take' $25 from me today and lose untold dollars in the future once I'm gone, or do you keep me as a customer and honestly earn a whole lot more money in the future? The choice is yours and yours alone. I have a feeling eBay is going to be greedy and take the $25 and won't give me a kiss goodbye. Oh well, I smell an opportunity for Google to get into the auction business...
  4. Re: Title should be Ebay and PayPal Suck, not sucks. There, is that better?
  5. Nice job Cueman! Looks just like the Bubinga I picked up. Did you use the iron on method? Type of glue??? Any bubbling issues after applying the finish? Sorry for all the questions, but I have...issues....LOL!! Thanks
  6. The funny thing is, this is the first time I've been charged this fee. In the past year I had two other bad deals, where I had to involve PayPal to resolve, and was never charged. Go figure. I'm thinking of writing a note to the FTC, just to cause eBay $25 in pain. Further, I sent them this note: My issue has less to do with the seller who turned me into a fraud victim, but more with eBay's policy that adds insult to injury by stealing $25 in bogus fees when refunding a customers money. Why are you penalizing the victim rather than the perpetrator? Did the egghead bean counters at eBay flunk basic psychology? You are supposed to give negative reinforcement to those exhibiting bad behaviour, not bite the hand that feeds you. Yes I know, the seller pays your bills, but without buyers like me, you'd be out of business. I want ebay to tell me if I'm a valuable customer or not. If I am, then please return my $25 held back from PayPal Case #PP-xxx.X-xxx. If you do not feel that I am of any value to eBay, then please close my account. I have no need to do business with anyone that harbors such feelings. Thank you. We shall see how they feel about me....will let you know.
  7. Some of you may remember my recent experience where a seller sent me a damaged White equalizer. Well the good news is, PayPal resolved the issue in my favor (no brainer there). The bad news is, Ebay ripped me off via PayPal (proudly an Ebay company) for a $25.00 processing fee under their "standard purchase protection program". Now, had I used a PayPal Visa card...this fee would have been waived. I'm glad my purchase price was more than the $25 other wise I'd really be pissed to pay Ebay more than I would be refunded. It's bad enough being victimized by a bad seller, but for Ebay to be pulling this crap is going to leave me with no alternative other than to quit using their site. This is probably a good thing as I spend way too much money on there as it is. So there you have it. Ebay is out to screw it's customers.
  8. I posted this before, but will gladly do again. On ebay I bought veneer from Robin Higdon, http://stores.ebay.com/Veneer-1 <veneer1@bellsouth.net> and can't say enough good things about her, the quality of veneer, or the excess quantity over what I ordered. VERY easy to work with, gladly sent samples. If any of you out there are planning any speaker building jobs requiring veneer I'd highly recommend this person.
  9. Fini, you are correct about the "ski jump things" being blast or flame deflectors, but the Saturn V never lifted off from this pad only the Saturn1B. The Saturn V lifted off from the same pad(s) as the Shuttle uses now. That pad is BIG! It's hard to see in the photo's but there's a set of rails the blast deflectors rode on when they were placed directly under the pedestal. Work for NASA? No...just a contractor. Sorry I can't get you front row seats for the next launch...you either need to be a VIP or know someone with a much higher pay grade than me!! It used to be NASA would hand out car passes to all Cape employees. Then Challenger went, and they deceided they didn't want that many people hanging around in the fall out after that, so they reduced the number of passes to a few thousand and gave them out by lottery. Then 9/11 happened and they don't want anybody out there that hasn't been pre-screened. However! you can get in this way, it's just going to cost you that's all, but at least you guaranteed a good seat! http://www.ksctickets.com/ltt.html http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/about/view/view_shuttle.html http://www.floridaorlandotickets.net/kennedy_space_center.html or if you wish you can camp out at Jetty Park, or along the river in Titusville but you need to get into your spot EARLY. There is also some pretty decent viewing along SR528 renamed the "beachline". In any case if you wish to see a launch that'll rattle the fillings out of your teeth and set car alarms off for 15 miles or more, you'd better hurry. We're going out of bid'ness, and not many launches remain until CEV. I'm not sure what kind of a noisemaker it'll be. Originally they'd planned to use solids w/ a liquid stage using the shuttles main engines. Now they're thinking about dusting off the plans for the old Saturn 5 engines (the king of shake, rattle, and roll) Not that the Shuttle doesn't get your attention, but the water suppression system dampens out the initial "blast" pretty well. I can remember before the first Shuttle launch they were out at the pad w/ dynamite testing the noise suppression. Hope this helps
  10. Ok, I'll admit to being rather dumb about this, but how do I downsize these photo's? I unsucessfully tried using photoshop, but I rarely use it as you can tell. THANKS
  11. For those of you that have never seen one this is what a beach looks like w/o CONDO's The white objects in the background are lightning arrestors for the pads
  12. This is the only plaque, sign or anything else telling of the historical significance of this site.
  13. here's what's left of the actual pad and launch platform. The Pad in the background is the new Delta IV with the white service structure.
  14. here's a picture of the periscopes that are protruding from the roof of the block house. This is the way the launch director would view the launch. Damn, I tried to make this one smaller....
  15. I meant to post this stuff last week, but never couold remember to take my camera (( Anyway here are some pictures of Complex 34 where three astronauts were lost in the Apollo fire. This is/was the "block house" where the engineers huddled during launches.
  16. All I received from the seller was a too bad, so sad, eat my shorts email. I haven't contacted PayPal yet, as I'm not done with the first part of my planned response so to speak. Should be ready to tonight though. As far as my leaving feedback, all in due time...
  17. re: Geez, the seller is located in Port Lavaca, if ever there was a hell on earth buddy, that place is it. I guess my experience proves Satan really does live there!
  18. What I bought was priced per square foot. I have absolutely ZERO experience working with veneer...prior to this weekend. I took a scap piece, used a mini-foam paint roller and applied some Titebond III wood glue to both the veneer and the plywood substrate I was playing with. Waited an hour for them to dry and then used a steam iron set on cotton. Then I used an old cotton rag to press them together. Worked like a charm. I was really amazed as to how FAST and easy it was. The scrap piece of veneer I had had some cracks and other defects in it. I just taped over/joined the bad areas with a clear, low tack, high temp tape called "Flashbreaker" . When I removed the tape the defects nearly disappeared. Quite impressed actually. I bought the veneer to do a wood border around the tile in my dining room. I'm almost ready to start.
  19. Yeah, I'm going to get my money back. It's just going to take some time. If you look at the photo on eBay, the jerk cropped the edges to hide the fact they're mangled. According to the local State Attorney's office, that act by itself constitutes fraud. It's compounded when he claims it was rack mounted prior to the auction. So, I don't think this clown has a leg to stand on...but we are talking about dealing with PayPal. No chicken counting here. As far as negative feedback. "Revenge is a dish best served cold"
  20. Before Christmas I ordered some veneer from lepkowski(Contact Member)http://stores.ebay.com/Veneer-1 on eBay. UPS crushed the double boxed box and destroyed the veneer. Robin Higdon/Veneer1 <veneer1@bellsouth.net> took care of me right away and even upgraded my order. SUPER NICE GIRL, and easy to work with. I can't say enough good things about the treatment I received and will do business with her again someday. If any of you out there are planning any speaker building jobs requiring veneer I'd highly recommend this person.
  21. I won this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7380265890&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT Seller ( adan_davila) said the unit had been racked since "new" in an email to me. When it arrived, it was well packed, but this is what I got... The other mounting ear is bent worse. Note the faceplate separation from the chassis. I guess he had some GORILLA remove it from the rack w/o unscrewing it first. Of course my wife was standing there as I opened the box, and I had to take another ration. You know insult to injury. So...now I get to hassle with PayPal as the seller says "all sales are final". Meanwhile, as a consolation prize, I get to pop this virgins cherry 100% feedback rating. (I'd rather have the White 4400) Just waiting to get all of my ducks in order.......Sigh.........
  22. Hanging from an inversion table decompresses the disk too and it's a lot cheaper. There are other "professional" decompression machines out there, like the "Vax D" http://www.vax-d.com/ also. Does it do a better job than gravity and an inversion table? I kind of doubt it, or at least the version I used in a Chiropractors office didn't even come close. I also don't think you'll ever see an inversion table used by any "professionals". It's rather low tech and smells like quackery. Besides you'd feel rather ripped off if some doctor charged you $100 to turn you upside down. That and keeping those silly gowns from falling over your face, exposing... That said...I don't know if decompressing the spine would control spasms. What's the trigger that causes a spasm? Pinched nerve? If so, it might help.
