  1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3043225735 I bought a B4+ with a Crown K2 so I'm selling these, they are in perfect shape. Thanks
  2. The SVS subs are 20-39 CS+'s, I bought the package with the Samson 1000 amp (500 watts per sub)and the Marchand "Black Box" I have them phased opposite each other (one at 0 one at 180) and use the gain on the Black box to blend the subs for different media. I think that they blend perfectly and can keep up with the LaScalas without a problem.

As far as the amount of work, refinishing the Cornwalls and Heresies was easy. I sanded the oiled oak down to raw wood then stained them with Minwax Natural Brown blended with Peach. I finished them in a Polyurethane Satin finish. I haven't decided what to do with the LaScalas yet as far as finish. I will probably just put a clear coat of Satin on them. Mounting the Heresies was a bigger job. I bought two Peerless size small TV mounts from Home Depot in white and painted them to match the room. The standard max angle down is 10 degrees so I drilled another hole to give me a steeper angle down. I ran the speaker wire out of the wall behind the TV and back up through the attic and back out the wall that the TV stands are mounted on. I used 6 small wood screws to mount each speaker on the stands. Convincing my wife to let me do this was the hardest part of the project, It involved a lot of gift giving,(I usually timed each step around a major gift giving holiday) explaining how much "the family" will enjoy the system, "you don;t have to get me anything for Christmas,Birthday etc.." "these speakers are already worth more than I paid for them" She would just roll her eyes and say "go ahead, just don't spend the kids college fund"
  4. I started building this system three years ago with the purchase of the La Scalas. I was excited to find them new-made in 1997. A friend sent me an Academy as a gift (I know-great gift)I added the SVS twin subs and positioned them in opposite corners behind the La Scalas. I found the Cornwalls in the newspaper, they were oiled oak so I refinished them with a lighter shade. After adding the 4802 I found the Heresies in oiled oak and refinished them to match the Cornwalls. I used TV wall mounts for the heresies-works perfect and allowed me to move them a bit.I'm still working with the set up of the 4802-currently I have the fronts set to large with LFE to front and sub, all else set to small, xover at 60. Overall I'm really happy with this system, adding the subs made the biggest difference, they literally shake the whole house. Whats next? I would love a pair of OO horns to match the Cornwalls and Heresies. Also, thanks to everyone on these boards for guiding me along the way. Greg

  6. I did pick up the Cornwalls, they sound great. I replaced a pair of kg4.5's that I was using for rears. The Cornwall is a much better match for the LaScalas and Academy up front. Thanks for the help-Greg
  7. I have a chance to buy some oak Cornwalls for about $600. I'm trying to find the year of manufacture, serial #'s are 8633693 & 4. (C2-OO). Thanks for your help. Greg
  8. Due to the installation of a new door, my KG 4.5 rears will have to go. I do have room above the space for some in wall speakers and I'm considering the RCW 5's. My fronts are La Scalas,Academy center and twin SVS CS20/39+ subs. I know these are not a good match for my system but space is tight at the rear of the room. Any input or opinions on the RCW5 is appreciated. Greg
  9. Sorry for being late in the follow-up post- the feedback is intermittent but doesn't seem to happen more in one mode versus another, also, the feedback isn't related to the volume of the receiver. The sound comes directly from the receiver- you put your ear up to it and you can hear it perfectly.
  10. My AVR 3300 sometimes has a feedback type of sound that comes from the unit. It's sort of a high pitched whistle that goes from low to high. The receiver does have a cable box sitting on it, the closest speaker is an Academy Center channel sitting on top of the Entertainment center. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Thanks in advance, Greg
  11. I have a PSX2 that I run through my Denon 3300 S-Video. It's a great set-up although I was disapointed that GT-3 was in pro-logic. Sounds good on 5 ch. though. Resident Evil code Veronica is great also.
  12. Thanks for the advice, I'm going to wait until I can afford the horns, then I'll move the LaScalas to the rear.
  13. I'm thinking of selling my new La Scalas (1999) and buying a pair of Khorns(1970's)in hopes of a little better sound quality from the Khorns. Are there improvements to the new heritage line that I won't get from an older Khorn? Unfortunatly, I can't do a side by side comparison. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
