  1. Wow. Great thread....

After almost 10 years, I haven't felt the need to replace my SuperX??? networks (didn't realize the name had changed). A few years back I added Dave's Fastracs and had to adjust the settings to tone down the mids a tad but that's about it. I know there are new networks out there that folks rave about but I haven't felt the need to spend the money. Other than adding Craig's new preamp, my system is pretty much exactly the same as it was when this thread began so to answer your question Mr. Cut-Throat....No, my opinion hasn't changed.

    Craigs new pre-amp?

  2. Strawberry Boones Farm now that's a Drink LOL!!

Oh I don't know, I prefer Thunderbird, TJ Swann or Mad Dog 20/20 myself [;)]

Hi everyone! Yes, I have been away for a while. I've been busy with work, family, my mountain biking addiction and just listening to music. Hope all is well in tha land of Klipsch.

  3. A Sansui 9090db with La Scala, Cornwalls and Heresy's = ear bleeder. I've had and listened extensively to all the combos afore mentioned. I had thought the 9090ddb was good at the time, but boy was I wrong, in fact, I was very wrong. Bottom line, get a good tube amp(s) and never look back.

    may the flames begin :)

  4. Temporarily using a "Benchmark DAC1 USB Pre", but I have a Juicy Music BBX in the shop for service that was very good with the MC250 so i can only imagine it will pair well with the VRD's.

The BBX pairs very well. I have been running VRD's with a BBX on Cornwalls for several years. I have no plans to make any changes.

  5. That's a beauty for sure. Gives me incentive to complete mine. I'd like to get my hands on a case like you have as it's stunning. Who did the work on it, NOSValves?

The case was built by Dan Crosby of Michigan. He has a website. HERE. I did all the refurb work myself under the guidance of a professional. I did clean and paint the transformers.

I think if you keep track of your expenditures on a vintage piece, you'll probably spend more than you think you will. If you don't refurbish it and don't replace the old rectifier and burn your house down, it will cost you a lot more than I paid!

Thanks for the website. I'll look into getting one from him when and if I ever get around to restoring mine. Oh, and I know exactly what you mean about spending more than you think you will.
