  1. I just bought Pirates over the weekend as (one of many) Christmas presents for my wife. We haven't watched it, since it's not the 25th yet. The review of this movie on HomeTheaterSpot talks about the video being poor, but the review in the current issue of S&V indicates that it is crystal clear. I'll report back after Christmas . . . Dave
  2. I agree with EasyListener. DTS should normally be your first choice when it's available. The DTS soundtrack on the DVD is stored using less compression than a DD-5.1 soundtrack. Dave
  3. Thanks a bunch to everyone who replied. After several sleepless nights, I have decided to keep the RF5's, as well as the RC35 and RS35's. After listening to several CD's, some of which just didn't sound "good" with my previous JBL's, they all sound great now. The height of the RC7 was the issue all along. Are you listening Klipsch? In my case, 8.5" would have worked but 9" would not. Maybe in the future, Klipsch will provide me with another center channel option that will also be compatible with the 5's. Then I could consider replacing the center and surrounds, and moving the RS35's to the rear (if I can figure a way to get wires back there). It sure was a whole lot simpler in the days of 2-channel . . . Dave
  4. From your picture of the label, it must be a KG-2. Go to the Klipsch product page, select Classics, then Classic Classics. KG-2 is then on the second page in Classic Classics. Dave
  5. OK ya'll, it boils down to this . . . I must use the RC35, at least until something better (than RC35) and smaller (than RC7) comes along. I will likely keep the RS35's as surrounds, at least for now, and maybe move them to rears down the road. Currently I'm not using rears at all, although my receiver is capable of 7.1. Here's the clincher - My Dealer will swap out my RF5's for RF7's for $466 plus tax. He has one pair of black RS7's in stock. Black was the color I chose for the 5's. If I swap out, my system would consist of RS7/RC35/RS35 for the forseeable future. If not, it will be RF5/RC35/RS35. Both combinations are paired with twin SVS 2039PC+. Somebody please flip a coin and tell me what to do. My heart says 7's. Dave
  6. DeanG, for a brief moment I thought you were a genius (hey, maybe you are!). But then I looked at the dimensions of the RB75. The 10" width (to be the height when turned sideways) is the killer. The killer dimension on the RC7 is the 9" height, not the width or the depth. Hey, but thanks for making me feel really good for about a minute!
  7. David (dkp) - Yes, removing the shelf and placing the RC7 directly on top of the TV would provide the additional clearance required. However, there are two problems with that approach. First, I have major concerns about placing 40+ lbs on top of my RPTV. Second (and this is the real deal killer), is the WAF. Dave
  8. All of these replies have been very helpful. At the moment, I think I'm leaning towards keeping the RF5's, but I'll probably call my dealer tomorrow just to see what it would cost to swap them out for the RF7's (in case I change my mind). Dave
  9. I have a 65" Mits HDTV situated in a Hooker entertainment center that has a side cabinet on either side and a shelf directly over the TV with a bridge piece above that. The shelf is as low as it can go to clear the TV, but there isn't enough space between the shelf and the bridge for the RC7. The picture I have attached is old. It shows my JBL center, and the JBL bookshelves were located inside the cabinets. The RF5's now stand between the cabinets and the SVS. Dave
  10. The general consensus seems to be to go with the 7's. My problem is that I have room for the RF7, but the RC7 won't fit. I could squeeze the RS7's onto the wall space (above door and bar openings) if I had to. But no one has yet said that the RF7/RC35/RS7 would make a good matched set. That's the catch . . .
  11. A few days ago I purchased a pair of RF5, an RC35, and a pair of RS35. I went with the RF5 due to the fact that I don't have enough space for an RC7, and the RC35 was not indicated on the website as being a match for the RF7. Now, I am finding posts that kind of refer to the RF5 as a "stepchild". I could probably return my RF5's and exchange for RF7's, but my concern is matching them to the RC35 and RS35. Should I keep what I have, or what? They are in a system with twin SVS-2039PC+ and a VSX-49TXi. Thanks Dave
