  1. wait a minute zdogbone.....if I am reading your emails with the Klipsch rep correctly, they have 575 plaques in the Hope, Ark warehouse, but they are no longer available for sale?? I dropped a boatload of $$ for new Khorns and a Belle for my HT in the past few months, a new plaque sure would look nice in my HT, rather than sitting in a box in some warehouse in Arkansas......oh well

Thanks for the help everyone, maybe Klipsch will bust loose with some of these if enough of us express interest....

  2. Hi all

I have been renovating my HT area for the past month, and had planned on ordering a Klipsch Wall Plaque when the work was nearly complete.

Now that I am FINALLY ready to order one, the website shows them "currently unavailable".....

If anyone has an extra they want to part with, or if any of the Klipsch "insiders" 1.gif know when/if they will be available again, please shoot me a PM.

    Thanks!

P.S. - here is the link to the plaque I am referring to http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=775

  3. I have a black KV-3 sitting idle, and one of my buddies has a black KV-2 sitting idle; I'm sure one of us might be able to help you out. The KV-3 is in excellent condition; I can't speak to the KV-2, as it's been a few years since I've seen it.

Shoot me a PM if you want to discuss further.

  4. jdm - where do you find the option of using the sub in stereo mode on the 55txi without setting the mains to small? I have had that receiver for 6 months and haven't found where to adjust that setting....and I would love to try it. Any help is, as always, appreciated..... Thanks!

  5. I just picked up a pair of Heresy II's that are a 4 Ohm version according to the nameplate on the back of the speaker.

Can anyone tell me if these will be OK to hook up to my HT receiver as surrounds without causing any problems? All my other speakers are 8 ohm, hopefully these won't adversely impact my Pioneer Elite txi55.....

I have done some reading here on the forum and it doesnt appear that it would cause any problems, just thought I'd double-check with all the experts here!

    Thanks,

    Dave

  6. Iwillwalk - right now, I have the fortes set up as surrounds and they sound pretty good; I am planning on trying one as a center soon. I have a CRT television and when I get the forte too close to the TV, the magnets in the forte mess up the picture.

If the forte sounds good as a center, it would OF COURSE mean that I would have to upgrade my TV as well, probably a plasma based on the WAF standard....LOL

....and to think, all this upgrading started with a new 5.1 capable receiver and DVD/SACD player...somehow I don't think its ever gonna stop!

  7. Thanks JM

I have done a whole bunch of reading about which center would be a good match for Khorns, and pretty much decided it would be a choice between Belle and LaSacla. I was just curious if anyone had experience with Heresys/Corns etc.

After further discussions and room measurements with my better half, I think we are going the Belle route, more for asthetics than perfect match for sound (since Klipsch doesnt make an oak LaScala), she doesn't want to see a birch LaScala between our new oak Khorns.....she is kinda picky that way, thank goodness!

Thanks everyone for your input, all of it has been very useful and informative!

  8. I have recently upgraded my mains from Forte 1's to Khorns; my Academy is not up to the task of keeping up with them for HT or 5.1 music.

I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a new Belle for a center, but before I pony up all that $$, has anyone tried a Cornwall, Heresy, Forte, etc. as a center with Khorns?

I figure a Belle will have similar timbre match as the Khorns, but I havent heard Heresys or Cornwalls.....

  9. Paulparrot:

Its only been about 45 days from the day I ordered. They weren't supposed to be here for two more weeks, but I got "the call" this weekend. I guess I timed it right; I was told Heritage speakers are manufactured in batches as enough orders pile up to warrant building several at one time.

  10. Lance:

According to the dealer through which I purchased the new Khorns, new Heritage speaker models are "built to order" when they have enough orders to warrant building a whole group of speakers. THere aren't any sitting around in a warehouse ready for sale.

I just found out that mine will be built the week of June 25th, so it looks like it won't take 4-6 months after all (I ordered in late April)9.gif

  11. Rick - I ordered a new pair of Khorns.....I trolled the net looking for a used pair for a few months, and finally decided to pull the trigger on a pair of new ones. I expect I will (hopefully) get them around Oct-Nov (they tell me 4-6 months).

Of course, I will post a review once I get a chance to put them through their paces!! 2.gif

  12. I have had both those units for 6 months now, no problems with either, love 'em both.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with them. Noting beats the firewire connection for 5.1 audio!!

JDM, how does that reciever sound with the Khorns? I finally got around to ordering a NEW pair, just curious about what to expect....

  13. I had them play the Khorns through a Denon solid state receiver (don't recall which model) since I have an ss receiver at home. I took along two versions of Miles Davis "Kind of Blue", the original CD and the SACD version. Both versions sounded great through the Khorns, but the SACD versioin sounded noticably richer and "warmer". The sales rep was very suprised by the improved sound quality of the SACD version. I also threw a Frank Zappa cd in to see how the Khorns would handle the detailed and vaired instrumentation of FZ, it sounded like the band was playing right in the room with us!

When I asked about price, Ron said something about a "recent price increase" from Klipsch, and quoted me $7,500 a pair.

I did some "A-B" testing between the RF7's and the Khorns using the same amplifier; in my opinion the Khorns are the hands down winners. The RF7's are an excellent speaker but the "big open sound" of the Khorns made them my personal favorite...

I am going to check out other Klipsch dealers in the area to see what they know about this "recent price increase".....

These guys were great to deal with, I must have spent an hour or so in the store Saturday, they let me play around to my hearts content. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon if you are in the Schaumburg area!

  14. Thanks for the "heads up" Mark. I bought my beloved Forte's from Hi-Fi Hutch back in 1989 and I always thought they were an excellent store. It's good to know they are still around. I have been looking for a dealer in the Chicago area that has Khorns to audtion; I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend!!

    Dave

  15. Excellent....thanks for all the help...it sounds like it will be tight but they will fit. I have a few friends that will be more than happy to assist if I provide them adequate liquid refreshment after the move-in......LOL

Thanks again, its great to have a resource like this board, especially since its hard (if not impossible) to find a dealer around here (Chicago suburbs) that have Khorns in the showroom. If anyone here knows a dealer in this area with Khorns on the floor, please drop me a line, I need to pay them a visit!
