  1. Unit is in prefect cosmetic and operating state. Just recently updated by the OEM with the Maxim modes AND the LOMC phono stage, so now the phono section has both the MM and MC phono stages, for all types of phono cartridges. Wooden cabinet is also in pristine shape. OEM also replaced the tube-rectified power supply with the much more reliable solid state ps, which should last forever. The tubes are almost new, JJ and Sovteks, nothing exotic. I doubt you'll find a more pristine unit.
  2. These Quads have been sitting in my [very dry] basement for 2 years now. I've decided to let them go, since I don't see myself spending $3,000 for the professional overhaul. They are beautiful speakers for sure, the most individualistic I've seen. The bronze patina alone is just so warm. Alas, they will need to go.
  3. I have 1983 Khorns with AK crossovers. Being that they are 33 years old, I'm contemplating replacing the AK crossovers with either the AA or AK-3 crossovers [after extensive searching on-line I still don't know which ones of these two types sound better]. As I learned the AK-type crossovers don't allow for easy plug-n-play replacements because of the separate woofer crossovers inside the woofer bin doors, and soldered connections. I spoke to Bob Crites this morning who informed me that it would not be an easy undertaking. In your opinion, can I tackle this project on my own, being a complete newbie? I think I can learn how to solder. If you think it can be done by a newb, can you guide me through the process? I can provide clear photos of the existing crossovers, if you'd find it helpful.
  4. SOLD In excellent working and cosmetic condition. One very small nick on top of front cover. Comes with remote control. Has a very decent phono stage. Ships from 02816.
  5. $795 now. Great 300B stereo SET amplifier. I doubt you will buy a good 300B amp for a lower price. And it's made in N.America!
  6. Rhode Island. Pickup would be more than welcome.
  7. Will split shipping 50/50 with buyer in CONUS.
  8. SOLD Highly-regarded Assemblage ST-300B 8wpc SET stereo power amplifier in excellent condition. Rating it 8/10 cosmetically, because silk-screened lettering has worn off a bit on the back of the unit, otherwise in mint shape cosmetically. Tubes - a duet of Electro-Harmonix Gold 300B tubes with plenty of hours of music enjoyment left, two GE 6BX7GT tubes, two Mullard GZ33 tubes, one Sovtek 6N7GT tube. Original box, two copies of operation and parts manual, schematics. This amp was factory-assembled in Canada by Sonic Frontiers/Parts Connection. An excellent, detailed, vibrant and rich 8wpc single ended triode power amplifier for a pair of high-efficiency speakers. This amplifier drove my Klipschorns with ease for almost 8 years. Will double-box for shipping. Shipping weight around 60 lbs. $795
  9. AFAIK, that isn't the case. But I don't know much about them.
  10. Bought a pair of old not-working Quad 57s, very reasonably. The professional rebuild is rather expensive, and I wouldn't want to go that route until I heard the 57's for myself. How would you describe the sound of these, comparing to our Khorns? I keep reading about the incredible midrange that the Quads are famous for...
  11. Still available. Will move these babies to eBay in a few days if there are no takers for these very reasonably priced speakers.
