  1. I was talking about getting low volume levels when listening to music. I might have had the AC3 turned on though. I will double check that. Thanks for the info. As for your buzzing sound I have a couple things to suggest that might fix it. Dont know if you have tried them before but figure i'll tell you them anyway :-D You say that it is only happening when connected via the RCA's connected to your promedia system. And you say that when you hook it up to other 5.1's via the RCA's you dont get the buzzing? I will assume its not the wire picking up an electrical feed (this happens when wires are placed near power cords.. fix is get better wireing that is shielded or re-position your wires). The only other thing I can think of that is causing it is a bad connection somewhere. If its only happening when using the RCA's, my guess would be that maybe its either the 1/8 mini plug on your soundcard, on your promedia system, or on the acutal RCA's on the dd5.1. Meh, Im actually not being as much help as I thought I would be when i started replying If i were you I would start with the wires. use only one wire from your computer to the RCA input, and only one wire from the front left and front right output of the dd5.1 to the promedias. If the buzz is still there, try it from the surround right/surround left of the dd5.1 to the front left/front right of the promeida. Keep going through to see if it is in fact one of the plugs that is the problem. If it does it when only plugged in a certain way you can then isolate where the problem is coming from and hopefully find a fix for it. Also check your speaker wires and make sure they're not near any power cables as well. That sometimes causes some electrical feedback to be picked up and carried on to the speakers. hope this helps or gives you some ideas to try for solving your problem!! Asphix
  2. Hrmm.. well thats 2 people who arent having the problem I'm having. I'll bust out the dd5.1 again later today and hook it up again and see if i get the same results again.. if so, I'll just assume that the product is defective and is outputting poor volumes. Thanks.
  3. when yous ay you upgraded your wires, you mean the speaker wires or the wires from computer-dd5.1-promedia sub?? I upgraded my speaker wires to monster cable XP 16 gague wire.. but I havnt touched the other wires.
  4. hrmm.. I havnt called klipsch yet.. but I'm thinking that maybe its just a crossed connection inside the SWS.. So, i'm thinking I might open it up (i'm aware that this would void any warrenty on it). So the new question is, Has anyone opened these things up? What kind of connection is there going from the 1/8 mini in to the amp - to the 1/8 mini out. I have some electronics knowledge, however if it comes to soldering and what not i'd rather leave it for klipsch to deal with. If any of you have opened up a sws and know how complex it is inside, would you say its worth it? or should I go through the hassle of contacting klipsch about it and getting an RMA?
  5. Theheel, you sure its a soundblaster issue?? I hooked up my PS2 to the dd 5.1 also and had the same volume problems. I had to have the volume of my speakers at 80, and the dd 5.1 at max and got horrible audio levels... Has tech support commented on this at all previously? I want to use my dd 5.1, but right now like you said its packed up in my closet.. I'm stumped as to why its doing this... I also used the c-media integrated sound processor on my motherboard via SPDIF Coax out and got the same issue. Maybe there was a bad batch of dd 5.1s? Maybe I have a setting wrong? At least i feel better now knowing im not the only one with this problem
  6. haha, then its your OTHER one thats upside down
  7. hrmm.. well no reply yet.. heres another question though... I have a soundblaster audigy which is what I'm trying to hook the dd-5.1 up to. I might be mistaken here, but Ive gotten the impression that the Center/Subwoofer channel doubles as the digital out. If i connected to the DD-5.1 via this port with a cord that takes from a 1/8"mini to an RCA type plug and hooked it up to the coaxle, do you think this would fix this problem with volume I'm experiencing? I'm just not sure if this thing is defective or not.. they're really crappy audio levels, but all ive tried hooking up to it is through the RCA type inputs. If you think this would help please let me know, and also if i'm wrong about the center channel doubleing as the digital out, let me know as well. Thanks!! Asphix
  8. No one has any suggestions? Do you think the product is a defect? or is this supposed to happen? I would really like some feedback if possible before tuesday/wednesday so that I dont call klipsch and bother them just becuse i have a setting wrong or something.
  9. dray i bet it did work, the volume just really sucks. I did the same planning on doing the same and I need to turn both my computer volume to 100, and the promedia volume to 80 to hear anything through the dd5.1.. and I only get about 1/3 volume when the dd-5.1 is turned all the way up. I'm still waiting for a response on my post.
  10. just FYI the link to the SWS post is here: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=43283&sessionID={47CD6ECE-DD3D-4463-B5ED-D49E4F5CC1C9}
  11. Hello, I just got an SWS for christmas to compliment the bass of my Promedia 5.1 (non ultra). I must say I am very impressed. It is LOUD and seems to almost double the bass being produced. I'm not sure if it SHOULD be this loud, or if its extremely defective. But I'll get into that in a second. However it does nearly double the bass already being produced by my Promedia 5.1's dual subs (the older style with the port in front). Now while doubling the bass is always a good thing, heres my problem. Because I dont have an SWS output on my Promedia 5.1's sub, I have to use the 1/8" mini plugs through the SWS unit to my 5.1's. When I do this, my channel separation gets all sorts of messed up. The soundcard I am using is an Audigy 2, and basically the channels play like this... -----What should be playing------/------What Is Playing------ 1. ..........Front Left........../......Front Left......... 2. ..........Center............../......Center............. 3. ..........Front Right........./......From both Rear Left and Front Right (lower volume in front right) 4. ..........Rear Left.........../......very weak signal to the front right. Have to put my ear to Rear Left to hear anything 5. ..........Rear Right........../......Rear Right......... My guess is that its defective.. some wires are crossed inside the SWS or something. When I hook up just my Promedia 5.1's to my computer the channel separation is perfect. But with the SWS I get the above problem. I tried hooking the Front speaker line to the Promedia 5.1, the rears to the Promedia 5.1, and then the sub/center to the SWS then to the promedia 5.1.. and the chanel separation works perfect in this configuration, however the bass isnt 1/10th as good as it is when I have all 3 mini plugs going through the SWS instead of the 1. So.. any suggestions/comments? DO you think its defective? (well its pretty obvious but i just want some more opinions anyway hehe). This really sucks, because I'm having serious problems wiht my DD-5.1 i got for chirstmas also. I really hope i didnt somehow become the most unlucky guy on this planet and was shipped 2 defective products.... but who knows. If you want to see if you can help wiht my dd-5.1 problem hop over to the dd-5.1 board. Here is the link. (by the way, the DD-5.1 is not hooked up now and has nothing to do with this problem.) http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=43281&sessionID={47CD6ECE-DD3D-4463-B5ED-D49E4F5CC1C9}
  12. Hello, I just got a DD-5.1 for christmas using the awesome 99 dollar sale going on. However I am slightly dissapointed wiht the results I am getting. Before I go any further I will list the specs of how I have things wired up, and what components I am using, then will get into the problem I am having. I have my dd-5.1 connected to my computer which is using an Audigy 2 MP3+ sound card. I connected my computer to the DD5.1 via a 1.8" mini plug-RCA cable into the "LINE" input. I also have an external TV tuner, which I connected using the same type of cable. The third device used was a PS2 where I just plugged in the audio cables into the AUX2 input. I then have the DD-5.1 connected to my promedia 5.1 (non ultra) using the supplied Y adapters (RCA-1.8" mini female). Heres my problem. I turn my volume in my computer to the MAX, and my promedias volume level to 80. With the DD-5.1 volume level at -0db I am getting less than half the volume output of when I dont have the DD-5.1 in the picture at all. If i turn the DD-5.1 volume to -15db/-20db (with the computer volume and promedia volumes both at max) you cant hear any signal what so ever. Is this supposed to be happening this way????? I was under the impression that the DD-5.1 would take a sterio signal and translate it into 5.1, or at least make it stero through all 5 speakers and the sub. It does that to an extent, but the center channel is loud, the fronts are medium volume and the rears could be in the next room for all I can hear coming out of them. In order to get ballanced sound I need to turn the front speakers balance to -10 and I think i turned the center to -12, but then I have the audio level problem wehre at -0db its like having my promedias at a volume level of 35-40 when connected directly to my computer. I have an onboard soundcard with SPDIF optical/coax out. I dont have an optical cable but I tried with the coax and I got the same audio level problem. I also had the same audio level problem when trying to watch a dvd on the PS2, and when watching tv via my tv tuner. The only time I noticed volume levels get close to where they should be was when I turned on the added effects (hall, Theater etc). I turned the reverb down to get a somewhat normal sound but thers still that effect, and I dont think I should have to find a backdoor to get equipment to work the way it should be... or is this what I should have expected with this configuration? Right now my DD-5.1 is back in its box awaiting replies to this post and I will be calling klipsch to see if i can return/exchange it for a diff product(maybe another SWS, although I am having a problem with that too. Check the SWS forum if you want to help me with that one as well). I'm not sure if it is defective, or just not doing what I want it to. I also dont know what klipsch's return policy is so if anyone knows and can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it. Any comments or suggestions on how to fix my problem would be appreciated as well. Thanks, Jose

I think its supposed to be? on average you will usually have the sub at around half volume, and in that position the logo will be right side up.. I could be wrong though..
  14. I have a promedia 5.1 (non ultra) and just got an SWS for chirstmas along with a dd-5.1. Right now I'm extremely dissapointed wiht the dd-5.1 and will contact klipsch to see if they will take it back in exchange for another SWS, but I'll explain that later. I want to see first if any of you guys are experiencing a problem I'm having wiht my SWS. Heres the problem, Being I have a non ultra promedia 5.1 i dont have the SWS output on my main sub, so i need to run each sterio 1/8" jack to the sws and then to my promedia sub. It works great and is REALLY loud. However when I test my channel separation through my SB audigy 2, the left channel tests fine, so does the center, the right appears to be a little low volume, then the surround left comes out of the front right at an extremely low volume, and the surround right is normal level. Can one of you guys hook up your system in that manner to see if you get the same issue? Its a pain in the rear to have to send this stuff back, but my guess is that the lines inside the SWS are crossed and its screwing up my channels. If i just connect from my PC to my PROMEDIA sub, the channel separation is perfect. Now on to the dd 5.1, I got it because I have an external TV tuner, and I like the fact that it has a remote control, and all the nifty features on it. I wanted to connect my computer through it, but when I do so the audio levels are horrible. I'll have my volume level in windows at MAX, my promedia volume at 80, and the dd-5.1 volume at -0db (max) and its only maybe half of what the volume output is when I have my promedias hooked up straight to my computer. I tried hooking up a PS2 and I was getting the same crappy audio levels. And same when I hooked up my TV tuner. I even disabled my Audigy2, and enabled my onboard soundcard (c-media) which has SPDIF optical/coaxle out, and hooked the sucker up wiht the coaxle and same crappy audio levels. Has anyone else also had this problem or similar problems? I know all my wires are hooked up correctly, I have years of experience with audio equipment, and am using all the connectors provided by with the products except for some monster cable 1.8" sterio- sterio RCA cables to get the audio from my computer/tv tuner. Right now my dd 5.1 is packed up and ready to be shipped back to klipsch, and I might have to do the same for the SWS because of this channel separation issue, but I want to check up on here and see if anyone has any suggestions or quick fixes that I might not have thought about, or maybe its because the dd-5.1 is converting a sterio signal to 5.1 so it is weaker? I'm not sure.. im confused.. all i know is this isnt how i expected these things to work.. garbled channel separation and an output volume cut by more than 1/2
