  1. Klapptomaniac... that is very good, Dean. I missed that.
  2. (Place: <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Salisbury, Maryland Police Station)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> (Date/Time: 2400 GMT, 24 Dec 2005) Khorn owner: "There's been a robbery." Detective: "Yes sir, what was it?" Khorn owner: "My klappers!" Detective: "Your klappers?" Khorn owner: "Yeah, you know, those things inside a Klipschorn that makes them klang?" Detective: "The klangers?" Khorn owner: "That's right, we call them klappers in the business." Detective: "A klapper caper." Khorn owner: "What's that?" Detective: "Nothing sir. Now, can I have the facts? What kind of klappers were stolen on this caper?" Khorn owner: "They were 400hz tractrix klapper squawkers, with Beyma tweeters, and Klapper ESN crossovers, including the autoformers." Detective: "And where were they kept?" Khorn owner: "In my Klipschorn klone speakers." Detective: "Uh huh. You have any ideas who might have taken the tractrix klapper squawkers from the Klipschorn klone speakers?" Khorn owner: "Well, just one. I fired a man. He swore he'd get even." Detective: "What was his name?" Khorn owner: "Craig Cooper" Detective: "You think he'd..." Khorn owner: "That's right. I think Craig Cooper copped my klapper squawkers, kept in the Klipschorn klone speakers." Detective: "You know where this Craig Cooper is from?" Khorn owner: "Yuh. Kleveland" Detective: "That figures. That figures." Khorn owner: "What makes it worse, they were klean." Detective: "Klean klapper squawkers." Khorn owner: "That's right." Detective: "Why do you think Kleveland's Craig Cooper would cop your klean klapper squawkers kept in your Klipschorn klone speakes?" Khorn owner: "Only one reason." Detective: "What's that?" Khorn owner: "He's a kleptomaniac." Detective: "Who first discovered the klapper squawkers were copped?" Khorn owner: "My kleaning woman, Klara Klifford." Detective: "That figures. Now let me see if I got the facts straight here. Kleaning woman Klara Klifford discovered your klean klapper squawkers kept in your Klipschorn klone speakers were copped by Craig Cooper the kleptomaniac from Kleveland. Now, is that about it?" Khorn owner: "One other thing." Detective: "What's that?" Khorn owner: "If I ever catch kleptomaniac Craig Cooper from Kleveland who copped my klean klapper squawkers kept in my Klipschorn klone speakers......." Detective: "Yes?" Khorn owner: "I'll klobber him!"
  3. Al, LOL! I'm sorry man! I thought it is a good name. (Still LOL!)
  4. John, I built Al's Klapperxovers. The difference between them and my old system is night and day! I am now building my second set.
  5. John, If you want shorter wires, there are 90 degree terminal connectors like L in the picture, this one is non-insulated. I believe I've seen some insulated ones at Home Depot. Armando
  6. The EN-15 has a horn port, or a port horn..whatever, which improves not only the lows but the the mids as well..
  7. Here's the Ultraflex with dimensions, from Cohen' book.
  8. I thought they draw first, then measure. Al, I couldn't go beyond QuickBASIC, you used VisualBASIC for your software,' didn't you? (You're also in my book, on page 1....the crossover book). BTW, I started on the second set of universal A's, based on the scaling tips you gave me. I am also now seriously thinking about ESN for the low section. I am using EV drivers, though. Are there value changes I have to make? Armando
  9. (I draw plans for a living using AutoCad (drawings for electrical installations on navy ships, equipment fabrication, etc.). I t's amazing what AutoCad can do, but I also have great respect for our designers at work in the years B.C. (before computers). They produced beautiful drawings the old fashioned way, something I have trouble with). Those are excellent drawings, Dana.
  10. Dana, Who did the drawing for the patent?
  11. We're not worthy!! We're not worthy!! We're not worthy!! Way to go, D-man!
  12. We've seen the driver earlier. Here's Chris' schematic drawing of the crossover. The woofer has an Lpad. It looks like it was padded down to match the lower 99 db rating of the midrange. Crossover gurus, please comment. D-man, I will post some pictures of the Classic maybe this weekend. (I only have one, got from ebay, plans for a second one, a smaller version is in the works, I might have to ask your expert opinion on it, if you don't mind). Speakerlab_X_over.pdf
  13. Duke, I have both copies of the "old" and "new" SK's. Send me an e-mail if you are interested. Here's a picture of Chris' "new" SK. Chris, I hope you don't mind, I am posting this for you.
  14. Chris, Just the schematic. I collect horn plans and if available, their crossover schematics. I already replaced my crossovers with ALK's A. I posted some pictures of them in DeanG's "Hey Al" thread, you may want to take a peek. I did some mods in the construction. I also used one of the ALK's A in my University Classic. But like I said, no rush. When you decide to hack up your SK's and their crossovers, and you can get the schematic, then that's the time. If you can't get to it, that's ok, too. Like I said, it is low priority. Don't let that bother you. Some of us would like to see some pictures of your "new" system, before you hack it up. Armando
  15. Chris, A schematic with part values if possible, but it is no rush. Whenever or if you can get to it. I just want a copy to complete the documentation on it. Sometime next year will be fine...It is really low prioriy, we're both busy. Thanks, Armando
  16. Thanks, Tom. Here's a shot of the label plate for the terminal board. There is no "0" connection point, which is really not a problem, since it is the same as (-). A separate terminal will be really convenient, though.
  17. Last one, top view. I had fun building these.
  18. Another shot, the whole enchilada, with tap selection chart..
  19. That is the high frequency section. I splitted Al's A into low and high sections so if I need a different xover point for a different driver, I don't have to rebuild the entire xover. I plan on building another set with different xover points. I can swap sections depending on what driver I am using at the time. Al said I can also upgrade a section (like to ESN), if I want to. Here's the 400 hz section.
  20. Al, I used sandpaper when I did mine. It was messy. I tried using the soldering iron like you said, but I wasn't sure if it was working for me. Dean, I did something different with the transformer connections. I never liked push on connectors (a car electrical fire caused by a loose push on connector back in the 80's) so I terminated each xfmr tap at a 10 tb terminal board. It turned out I was one one terminal short, should have used an 11tb. Tap selection is done at the board by moving the midrange connections. Here's a shot. (Al has seen this).
