Not sure if you found your problem but on one of my 730's, I have two, you have to hold one of the speaker protection pins in or the speaker won't work. Something you may want to try. Anyone know where to find the lamp for the power switch? It's a tiny little bulb.

Mybad, that is the right stuff to use before staining. Sanding sealer comes after.[:$][D]

A reason I asked about your wood is because birch doesn't take stain evenly. That is one reason to use a sanding sealer. Also if you search this forum for veneering or reveneering you can see plenty of examples of wood finish suggestions from members who have posted their projects.[D]

By staining I assume you are going to change the color. You also said Poplar plywood not birch right? If your staining you're going to want to use a sanding sealer first to tighten up the grain and prevent the fuzzy's from popping up. Then I would buy some small cans of what you think you will want to use and try these out on some scraps to be sure the color works with your wood before applying anything to your cabinets. Use a good grade like Minwax. Be sure to follow directions. Wipe on wipe off. I like using a rag to apply and to wipe off the staing. Repeat till you get the depth of color your looking for. You can darken but you can't lighten the color. After staining you'll need to decide what type of finish you want. poly, oil etc. Klipsh used boiled linseed on their oiled finishes which is nice. Some like the Watco Danish oil. I've used the minwax antique oil finish with good results. They all take time and repeated applications to get a nice finish with lite sanding or steel wooling in between coats. Take your time and you'll end up with a nice piece of work that will last a lifetime.[D]

My agreement with Bob is in the technique used to eliminate the bell effect of the horn. If you were to hang the horn from a string and hit it with a stick, it will ring just like a bell; place the horn on a table bell side down and the ringing will be a thunk. Just the same as if you took a brass bell and sit it on a table the ring will not be there. Tighten the screws or replace the gasket. That should do it and not make a mess of your speakers. [D]

My daughter arrived home from UCF last night with the toys. Hoping to get them set up today and I'll post some pics. Mike these were in your backyard too. The fellow listing the Belles on Ebay wanted to sell them and since I could transport them without worrying about shippers destroying them I dug deep (for me) and purchased them. Man is that amp heavy. Both pieces have the wood case. They look to be in great shape. Hope they sound as good as I've heard about Mac gear. Stay tuned.[

I've never experienced a dead zone. The antenna though has to be on a flat exterior surface so as not to limit it's directional reception. In other words don't put it on the dash and drive north cause your going to block the signal.

If you were refering to the reception quality, the signal is coming from a satelite which driving down the highway doesn't affect unless you go through a tunnel. I drive all over the southeast without any trouble what so ever. Sometimes however you may have to change radio stations if you are transmitting through your car radio to find a week station so you don't get bleed through.

I have XM in three vehicles and two home docs in the house. LOVE it. Period. Best thing since sliced bread. When traveling on the interstate you don't have to mess with fading radio signals every few miles and I actually listen to talk radio most of the time anyway. I never listen to the local stuff anymore. The audio quality to me is pretty good compaired to standard radio; just don't expect cd quality. Purchased all my gear used through Epay. If you do buy her a radio spring for the home dock too, it's worth it.

Actually the speaker I have that needs reconed is a K43E not 33. Is there a difference in the cone and coil diameter? This was an extra speaker that came with a pair of cornwall II's. I need to pull the other speaker and see if it is the same or not.

Mine arrived loaded with propaganda too. I got the 50% there one. # 30. Rolled it back up and put into the tube until I can get it framed. Anyone have of pic of theirs framed yet?
