  1. Cabinets look nice (although I was hoping to luck into some walnut ones.) I don't know if the passive radiator is of any concern. What do you audio-techies out there think? By the way, how far North do you live??
  2. Den, I am very interested. I also live in Cheeseland (Racine). I have been looking at Fortes and Heresy's on ebay. Do you have any pictures? $500 is fine if the cabinets look nice and acoustics work. What about the radiator repair? What was done? I'll plead ignorance. Would anyone out there please comment on what I need to know? Thanks. Hopefully, we can make a deal.
  3. I just bid on some walnut Heresy's with risers on ebay. Auction closes in 7 days. If I lose, I'm very interested. (By the way, hope I'm not violating protocol, but I'm new here, and a bit used to ebay.) As far as pricing, most Heresy's on ebay have been $300-450, and Heresy II's a little more.
  4. Oops, the correct SN is 172 Y 798. According to Tom's info, that makes it 1983. Thanks again.
  5. I'm still shopping for speakers, and just saw a pair of Heresy's that look very nice. Some questions, please: Does "HWL" mean walnut lacquer? Serial 172799....when produced? Are these "big" enough for my 30 x 15 foot drafty old living room? Any comparisons between Heresy's & Forte's? Acoording to this site, Heresy's weigh 55#, while Heresy II's weigh 37#. Is that a typo, or why the difference? Thanks a bunch for all your help.
  6. Yes, that explains the HBR, HWO, etc.
  7. Hi guys, Thanks for your input on Forte's, RF's, etc. I'm still shopping, and am confused. I think I understand the difference between Heresy & Heresy II. Are there different models such as Heresy "HBR" or "HO"? Also, someone listed a "heresy KG-4"...is that a smaller speaker? Please educate. Thanks. PS: I showed my wife a picture of RF-7's and she said. "HOW tall are they!?" We prob will stay more traditional.
  8. I am finally replacing my stereo from College days (circa Watergate) as the components die out. I like nice toys, but am basically cheap (or love a bargain.) I just bought a Sony 2 x 100W receiver (don't laugh, please) and am looking at Klipsch speakers on ebay and other sites. Any thoughts on Forte or Forte II's vs. RF 35 or RF 3 II's? Other models? My brother (the PhD metallurgical engineer) advised caution with old speakers due to cone degradation. What do you think? I have an old Tudor house, living room is 30 x 15 with lots of walnut, spanish plaster, drafty bay windows, and carpet currently over hardwood (may remove in future.) My wife might not be thrilled with black plastic or genuine vinyl imitation wood. Please comment acousitcally & aesthetically. Thanks.
