  1. I've seen 2 sets of KLF30s sell on Ebay in the last month. 1 set went for $1,224 (In Average condition), the other set went for $2,025! (Excellent condition) Why would anyone pay over 2K for KLF-30s?! (Or more than retail for any speaker for that is aprox 10 years old) They retailed for $1,800 back in the 90s! Why not just buy the new Klipsch Ref line and get a full warranty? Can anyone offer some insight into this for me? I have a set in excellent condition that I just might sell...What should I ask for them do ya think? Thanks, Bill
  2. I'm thinking of building 2 way horn type loudspeakers for speakers all the way around for my HT. I have a KV-4 now for my center channel, and was wondering if anybody knew what the crossover freq. was for the the mid/horn? I really like the way it sounds. Thanks Bill
  3. Klipsch does not stock the drivers for the KV4 anymore.....any reputable speaker rebuilder you guys may recommend for haveing the 8" drivers rebuit to factory specs? Thanks
  4. I put my ear "Closer" to the midrange horns and can't hear any distortion from them so I dont think they are blown. I agree with you! I always loved the strong clear mids from these, actualy they were stong clear everything when I first remember hearing them. Loved em. Let be more specific; it seems like its the lower mids, coming from the 12"s not the horns. like lower male voice seems to be muffled in with everything else. not clear, standing out, instruments seem to blur together in the upper bass lower mid area. The 12"s are crossed at 800 HZ and down. seems kinda high I guess. Maybe a smaller mid would be more articulate at doing the frequency range??? I don't really know anymore, I did'nt want to have to buy new speakers but it's really bothering me. Now that I heard this bad sound on music, I can hear it now in movies too! I'm listening closer for detail during movies and it's not there either. Uuuuugghhh! Help. I dont want to have to put my KLF-30's on Ebay.
  5. Yea, that is what I'm thinking Greg. But wanted to hear if anyone agreed. Thanks for your opinion. It bums me out though.
  6. The speakers are KLF-30's. No receiver power. Adcom 555. but I don't see where that would be an issue cause the 555 is the only amp I ever had on them and when I bought them they sounded great.
  7. I've had KLF-30's for about 5 yeras now and always loved their sound listening to music. (Big reason why I bought them) But my lifesyle has changed over the 5 years to the point where I recently discovered that I have'nt really listened to them criticaly in 2 channel stereo for about 2-3 years becasue they are part of my Home theater 5 channel surround setup and I watch movies over 90 pecent of the time. I put in some of my reference material CD's the other day and disovered that they sound terrible to me! YIKES. The bass sounds ok, top end sounds good too, but the midrange sounds, dull, flat, lifeless. What do you think happened??? Did they always sound like this? Has my taste in "Sound" changed? Any opinions would help me here on this I'm very perplexed by this......
  8. I've had the Adcom 555 II running the KLF-30's for 5 years. It now seems to be a bit ear fatigeing to me...... Or I'm just getting old. I seems fine for movies, but music can be a challenge to listen to for extended periods.
  9. Carver? just that particular model? I heard another person mention Carver to me on another forum....or is it ANY digital Carver that would work nicely?
  10. intersting.....I always like Marantz power but kinda forgot about it. Any other Solid state designs that are reasonably priced? Aragon isn't a option for me too much $.
  11. Thanks. That's what I'm looking for, opinions. Any other opinions of the CF4 sound compared to the KLF-30's?
  12. ummmmmm I was just considering Solid State designs. Some people have told me my Adcom is a little bright for my Klipschs. and to try an old Yamaha... Soooo, what solid state amp is "Soft" for my speakers? I guess is what I'm asking.
  13. I currently own KLF-30's and really like their sound. However I can remmeber hearing CF-4's back in their day as well and also liked them. Since I haven't heard the CF-4 in over 7 years, I was wondering if anybody on here has ever owned both, and/or A/B'd the two? What advantage or disadvantage do they have when comparing them?....not looking to start a war, just honest opinions. I seen a set of CF-4 for sale online and was considering buying them....but then thought maybe I would'nt like em as much....however I think on paper the CF's should sound better than my KLF-30's. just my opinion.
  14. whoops I think this should have been posted in the 2 channel audio section....could a moderator move it there for me?
  15. What do you think is the best amp match for Klipsch speakers, and why? I'm using an adcom 555 II on my KLF-30's and was wondering if there was a better choice...... Any thoughts? Experiences to share?
