  1. Can you use one of those Yamaha TSS receivers for Promedia 4.1's? I am using the speakers with my Xbox, PS2 and DVD player. I heard somewhere that you can't because the 4.1's are already powered and since the 4.1's are already amplified they would blow up or something. Forgot to mention, my 4.1 is actually the v2-400 Sub/Amp with the satellites upgraded to 4.1, and the control pod upgraded to the CP-1, so the connection from the speakers to the receiver are only the two wires ("Line" and "Surround"). Thanks!
  2. Hmmm, so I won't spend the money on another decoder because it's probably not that. Okay, I'll try your walk-around-the-room system. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!
  3. Well, I don't think I play music, movies or games very loud at all. Also, I never have problems with the satellites, just the sub grumbling. Might a move to the Promedia DD-5.1 help so I will be able to "move" some low-frequencies to the satellites?
  4. What about the old v2-400? Does the DD-5.1 work well with that? Does it support the v2-400's all-in-one input jack (i.e. the v2-400 doesn't have separate jacks for the sub and each satellite, but rather one jack coming from the sub/sat to the decoder). Can you use the low-frequency sound distribution function of the DD-5.1 to vary the amount of low-frequency sound between the sub and sats?
  5. Okay, so I got the new 4.1 satellites and a CP-1, but the sub is still grumbling. From all your suggestions, these are the possible causes. a. too close to the wall - will try to move them later at least 30cm away from the port and speakers. b. they're only multimedia speakers and have their limits - I'm not playing anything special though. Just some games on my Xbox or some movies on a dvd player, and sometimes even just regular stuff grumbles. c. speakers are being overdriven - sorry what does this mean? and how can I fix it. I am using a Midiland ADS-200 decoder. Would moving to a Promedia DD-5.1 help with the grumbling sound? (if only because they might both be engineered for each other because they have the same manufacturer). I also heard that the DD-5.1 had an option to vary the amount of low-frequency sound distributed between the sub and satellites (I think there were 3 settings). So would I be able to set it such that I could channel more low-frequency sound to the satellites (making them more powerful), and less to the sub (eliminating the grumble)? Of course this is the v2-400 sub/amp so there is no sub input, just an all-in-one "input" jack into the decoder, but just theoretically would it work?
  6. Your english sounds pretty clear to me! Thanks dodou!
  7. Sorry I'm an ignoramus. The ports are the two speakers on the side of the sub? (the ones with the metal screen). What is the port? Also, does the vertical clearance matter? (the sub is under a table). Does the sub need to be a certain distance away above and below it also? Thanks!
  8. My v2-400 subwoofer rumbles (instead of "booms") when the sound frequency is too low. Actually, it kind of "grumbles", like the sub can't handle frequencies that low, and is just trying to cope (sounds kind of like "glug, glug, glug"). Don't know if this is the case though. It's been like since I bought it (about 3 years ago). I'm changing the front speakers to the new 4.1 speakers, and I'm also upgrading to the CP-1, but I'm not really sure if this will have any effect. Any ideas?
  9. I have a digital decoder connected to my v2-400, which I can set to 4-channel, front 2-channels only, etc. I am actually satisfied with the games and movie sounds, but I would like to improve music performance. I hope these upgrades will do the trick since most music is in the midrange and should improve with the upgraded crossover. My question is this. Can I just change the front 2-satellites (which would include the master satellite)? Then when I listen to music, I can set the decoder to just output to the front 2-satellites. Is this correct? Or will the 2 rear (un-upgraded) satellites still have an effect on sound quality one way or another (i.e. rear sats still force or skew old crossover settings to all sats (including the front ones) and the sub)? Corollary to the question above: Are the v2-400's exactly the same as the 4.1's except for the satellites? Do they have exactly the same sub/amplifier? Thank you.
  10. Hello! I am currently using a Midiland ADS-2000 decoder with my v2-400's. It's okay I guess. I'm wondering if upgrading to the DD5.1 will make a difference. I know that the ADS-2000 does not do Large-Speaker Mode for the rear speakers (while the DD5.1 does) but that in itself isn't enough for me. Are there any other advantages the DD5.1 offer? - Is the sound quality itself better? - Can the equalizer (or any other sound enhancers) on the DD5.1 make the weak midrange sound better (the ADS-2000 has no equalizer or enhancers like "stadium", etc.)? I am still waiting for the CP-1 to be available to fix-up (sort of) the midrange, but for the moment, can the DD5.1 help?
  11. Hello, does anyone know where I can find a Klipsch store in the Florida area? I need to get the CP-1 (which is always out of stock in the online Klipsch store). Thanks!
  12. Just looked around the forum, and saw the thread "For future ref: Can Promedia be hooked up to...". Apparently, connecting an amplified receiver (like the Yamahas) to amplified speakers (like the v2-400) is a BAD idea. There will be too much power running through, and the whole darn thing will just explode. UNLESS you connect it to the headphone jack, but if we can't even take advantage of the standard OUT's of the Yamaha's, maybe it isn't worth it anymore.
  13. Hello all. I am in the process of upgrading my current setup. This is my current setup below. Promedia v2-400 Midiland ADS-2000 NO CPS-1 I am planning to upgrade this to the setup below. A. Promedia v2-400 Promedia DD-5.1 CPS-1 However, I was also thinking of the following setup. B. Promedia v2-400 Yamaha Receiver (forgot the model, but it's a "real" receiver/amplifier) The price difference between the two is about $70 (B. is pricier). Should I just go for the second one? 1. Can the Yamaha receiver approximate (or even improve on) the performance boost given by the CPS-1/DD5.1 upgrade (cleaned-up sound, less distortion, etc.)? Would the Yamaha be more successful in dealing with the weak-midend sound of the v2-400 (considering it has a full graphic equalizer, and is supposed to be more "industrial-strength")? 2. Since the v2-400's are just 4.1 speakers, can the Yamaha receiver split the center signal between the two front speakers for simulated 5.1 output (like the ADS-2000 and DD5.1 can)? Also, the Yamaha has nice big headset ports, which is another reason I am thinking of taking this option. Any ideas? Sorry have no dough for upgrading the speakers themselves so this is not an option for me.
