  1. Well I would feel safe with a good surge protector, and like one of you said , the equipment is expensive enough to spend a little more to feel secure about lightning(I do live in the lightning capital of the U.S."FLA.") lol

I will more than likely look for something in the $500. range. I do not think I have a dealer local that deals in Rotel. So I may choose monster.

I dont think I want to wait for anything else over the internet, since I am still waiting for my RF7s.

-Another question about HT, if I may:

My room is basicly a 3 wall rectangle 25X15 at this point I have one or two more purchases to make(surge protect) and HT Sub. At first I was going to leave the sub out of the picture for I would not use it during listening or 2ch. listening CDs ect.. but after learning more about HT and the diff. types of processing DTS 5.1,7.1 ect.. I realize there is a need for that channel during movies. What size sub would you think I would need to go with? 10, 12 15? I ran across a store that carried the HSU, but just the 10" STF2 for $350. Would this do the job for movie play?

Thx. Oh and yes you have noticed the name before.lol (FPS gaming handle)

  3. Hey guys (and Gals)

I am rather new to HT, and aside from the learning curve would like to ask for a few comments about Powersurge and clean power units.

I am still trying to figure out how to hook all my new equipment up myself here, and was reading about power cleaners and protection. I think after droping nearly 10K into this HT I should find out more about protection.

So I ask for advice in this area, hell any area of HT.

    Thx.

  4. Klipsch awesome!

I have just started receiving my new RF7s and RC7. I am so pumped! After a 2 hour drive for a demo. Remarkable! My only complaint is that I did not listen to a set of RF35, or RF5s first, I might have saved a bunch.lol

I have been so out of the HT loop for , I always enjoyed my old stuff, I never felt the need to upgrade.

I have not purchased any Home stereo equip. since the 80s. So I will be hard pressed to learn connections and Bi-wiring , along with everthing else that comes with HT. I would like to ask if anyone might know a good reference for a NooB like me,(book or Mag)so I wont be posting questions every 5 min. I mean we all have to learn sometime.

You see I have a stack of unopened boxes sitting in my living room, with all my new equipment, just waiting for the rest of the speakers to come in the mail. From what I have read in the manuals so far....this aint my fathers HT!

  5. Thanks DB, I have not purchased new equipment since the 80s.

So you can imagine the new technologies, besides bi-wiring that I am getting into.lol

This is my first pair of Klipsch speakers, my old were Yamahas. They did the job for all those years. I have many more questions about HT connections and wiring, but I will move those to a more suitable thread.

    Thx again .

  6. I just received a set of RF7s and an RC7, and was a bit surprised to see 4 speaker connections on the back of each speaker?

I have recently learned that this is for bi-wiring. I went out and purchased all the needed wires for this type of connection, because I have read it will make a noticable diff. in the SQ? The wires that come connected to each pole, should they be removed when Bi-wiring? Also why is there 4 connections to the speaker , but only 2 coming back to the amp?

    Yes this is my first.)

  7. I would like to keep this purchase under $500.

I am 80% TV watcher so DVDs take a second to TV.

I almost purchased the Samsung 931, but then read about problems , so I may hang on for the new Sammy you folks were talking about.

    Thanks

  8. I myself am in the same boat, I am so close to driving to sound advice and picking up a Yammy 1400, but I believe the Z-1 will be dropping in price here very soon, because of the 9, maybe into my price range, so I will hold out at least another week. I really wanted to keep it under $1000.

  9. I did not browse through al posts , so forgive me if this topic is a repeat.

I am building a HT for the first time, and I am rather new to much of the technology I am up against. I have started with a set of RF7s and an RC7 for now , due to budget, I cannot purchase surrounds for a few months , but I am hoping my old Yamaha book shelf speakers will do till then for rears.

My main issue is a DVD player, I have no knowledge of them , and would need something that works well with the Samsung DLP.

If you could give me your opinions I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

  10. Thanks for the welcome, I respect Klipsch for thier atempt to keep their product in capable hands and serviceable dealers and the such, but it almost seems like a price thing? Both "authorized dealers in my area, want $1500. for 2 RF5s That to me seems like they are the ones that should have been sued! I have found a company through a friend of mine out of state, who will ship them to me for a grand total of $1099 RF5s and $1509 RF7s?

I say Screw the authorized dealers for that price!

  11. I currently cannot find a Klipsch dealer within a 2 hour drive!

I have fallen in love with the reference series speaker, but cant seem to decide between the rf5 or the rf7 , which will be determined by the price . Its just hard finding a store by which to find these answers. The only stores carrying Klipsch are Best Buys and they only carry the synergy line.I need to stay within my $2,000 price range and that would include a center. Any advice , I would welcome it? Im under the impression Klipsch will not sell direct?

    Help!
