  1. Those heavy receivers take a beating in shipping . I lost a Kenwood KR9600 to fed ex this past year. It was real heavy, 2 handles bolted on the front just to help move it. I double boxed had sheets of styrofoam ,and from the damage done it looks like they dropped it right on a corner and crunched it in. Used a heavy duty "Dell "computer box. Almost have to make a plywood encasement.
  2. Jay, I might be able to help you out with some metal squawker horns, not the drivers . If you need them ,you did not mention them. When I put in the trachorns.Let me know, you could get them at the get together ,save on shipping if you are interested.
  3. [speakerfritz , Do you have one set of cabinets remaining , if so I would be interested if you are comming to the get together and have room to bring them . If not I fully understand ,they are quite large to haul around . I just was thinking I already have a pair of tweeters laying around , and will have the squaker horns when I install the trachorns.
  4. Duke, Sorry just read a PM from Claude ,stating he wanted it. I am not good at checking PM's . Just got home from work. I get home around Mid night on working days.

  7. So far this is a list of people and possible equipment at a quick going through the thread. Those who have shown an interest in no particular order 1. markgod VRD's . Craigs blueberry pre, Onix Cd player modified by ModWright, speakers see at bottom below the post 2. Duke Spinner K2 amps , Quicksilver pre , jolida tube cd 3. tuned4life some rare Neil Young recordings 4. whamo 5. tjnif Mac MC2102 tube amp ,Mac C2200 pre 6. oldbuckster 7. jay 481985 8. speakerfritz tube CDplayer , high end CD player [offer of several other pieces of equipment] 9. ben Mcintosh MC30 10 lwhaples 11. Daed [local forum member] Again this is just a quick list ,might have missed some people or some equipment,if I did do not take offense, but post correction. Those who are bringing equipment ,bring IC to hook up the equipment and possibly a good power strip to plug into. If each person would like to bring music,I suggest you bring 1 favorite and we will try to play a song or two from each persons slection. Since we have the blueberry , I do have a turn table ,not a great one but fairly decent ,don't have any lp's , if someone wants to bring some ,or even a fancy turn table.
  8. Claude, I bought one JBL 2404H off e-bay ,thought I was going to use it in my K-horn but after talking to Dean W ,found out that I would have to do something with the cross overs and did not want to bother. If you are wanting another one let me know, I paid $118.50 plus shipping . I don't know if you can look up an old e-bay item with the item # ,but it was 160056608433.[You can look it up in advanced search ,with item #]. If your interested ,how does $100 plus shipping sound. Let me know. I will be going on a short vacation from 12/20 -12/31,so can contact me before or after . My phone # 315 7947-4053 , or give me yours I have free long distance.
  9. Some great looking gear you got there. Just got home from work ,I have to cover Sat. and Sun. every other weekend.
  10. If anyone is wondering ,deleted post on my address until I get back from my little vacation. The guard dogs will be home along with my son's girl friend ,house sitting, but thought it wise to delete ,you never know who reads posts on a public forum.
  11. Would love to have you come, bring what you like ,that is easy enough for you to bring without a major hastle. The reason I say bring what is easy to bring is because people have already mentioned a few different items ,if we get too much we will definitely run out of time, the way I am inclined right now ,is to let the assembled group decide by the majority of interest, what gets put into the rotation. As we get about one to two weeks out ,maybe we can reach a consenses ,here on this posting about what holds the highest interest ,that way people would not go through the hastle of bringing equipment that we have no way of listening to. Do not know exactly who is comming yet. It will definitely be Saturday Jan 27th, I think around 11:30 - 12:00 noon [arrival time] for the sake of those travelling a distance but I am open to suggestions,if people will state what they think. . I will be in Florida from Dec 20- Dec 31, so I will not be on the Forum ,unless I get a little chance here and there to check in. The way this is developing I think we all are in for a good time, it will be great for people to get to meet each other ,and sample the music. I think about 2 weeks from the day,I will start a new thread "Central NY Get Together ,People and Equipment Sign Up" and we can hash out what equipment will get brought .
  12. It is kind of hard to make suggestions because these do not look like original equipment LaScalas ,to me. The top section is modified some what ,not sure what is in there . BEC [bob Crites]sells crossovers on this forum ,as well as others , they would be able to help you.
  13. Have you heard Neils new Filmore CD ,for the time it was recorded I guess the sound was OK ,but not one of the better sounding CD's ,I was a little dissapointed. I can understand him not wanting to release any more songs from that show if they were lesser quality sound wise. Sounds like you have had some memorable experiences with the concerts. I have quite a few memories from going to Saratoga concerts during my wild and crazy years late 60's ,early 70's saw the "Who" play there ,tons of people. Actually listening to some CSNY material right now "Dark Star" playing
  14. Ben, I wish you had the DRD 45 also ,thats one I would have liked to listen to.
  15. Larry, What if I change the Title of this thread to Vermont / Central NY get together, would that make a difference[] . You could hook up with OB ,near Albany and enjoy his company for part of the trip.[]
  16. Talked to Craig NOS Valves today ,and made sure to make the arrangements to switchout preamps so we will have his blueberry to listen to with the VRD's . Craig liked that idea ,he knows that this will be a good combo for everyone that is going to hear the VRD's for the first time.
  17. Mike, Still looking forward to our Tues. Dec 26th meeting will call you Sun. or Mon. of the same week to confirm. Maybe Tuesday morning to confirm really don't want to bother you on Christmas day. Let me know your preference.
  18. Duke, What about one of your favorites your SET amps[6], just kidding ,sounds like a great selection
  19. Ben, I am swapping my preamp with Craig's blueberry, he wanted me to try his, because he knows that it is a good match with the VRD's ,and we are not sure my Diva M7 is . We were going to do a short exchange after the Holidays , and I was going to try to time it with the gathering. But if I did not do it the same time , we could have the Diva M7 pre amp and your blue berry to listen too.Something to think about.Web site http://www.divaaudio.com/
  20. The CD players would definitely be interesting to me . Alk networks also are interesting ,but time wise I do not know how much we can squeeze in. I think others should make some suggestions. I do not have a really big house . I have a ranch house ,living room where K-horns are is 13' X 15' and has about 8.5' wide opening into the Kitchen area.
  21. How does Saturday Jan . 27th sound for the day . The only other Saturday I have open would be 2 wks. before that on Jan. 13th . I figured the 27th would give us more time to work out the details. Let me know what everyone thinks. Does anyone know Dr. Pyro??
  22. Sounds like we should rent out the Utica War Memorial Auditorium and sell tickets
  23. What I really would like is to somehow lure in Dr. Pyro from Buffalo NY , he is one of the persons who got in on the pCats offer for $2995. Now that would be a nice comparison pCATS and VRD's and a Duke super SS. Any one know Dr. Pyro ,and be willing to work on bringing him into this gathering
  24. Duke, If you could make it ,how about bringing in one of your heavy duty SS rigs . Could do a SS vs. VRD listening session.
