  1. wow, that is an awesome thread. i learned so much from about half of it already. i really recommend it to anyone who is interested in SVS and HSU. It isn't as biased toward SVS as seems to be the case here on this forum. Check it out!
  2. that really helps a lot. i leaning definitely toward the 25 again. im not that much of a HT enthusiast. im really buying all these speakers etc for music, so i think im going to go with the 25. i dont really feel i need the capability to switch between the different settings since its primarily music. i thought that the higher price tag bought a better driver or something else that really affected the sound quality for music. since it is basically just two of the 25s, i dont think i need that. after all, im not trying to play music for my neighborhood, just my family room which isn't huge. thanks a lot for the info. i have sent a few emails already and wanted some of the wisdom of the posters in this forum. id be interested to see a chart of the 25 compared with say, a rws-10 or 12. ill check out the link you provided. peace
  3. i just read about the svs pb2. now im considering paying more. says it is really good for music. what i dont understand is how the performance will be better with that than the 25-21pci. can anyone explain to me how the performance will differ for music? i understand how it may go to lower depths of bass than the 25, but for music, how is it better?
  4. thanks guys for taking the time to respond. ok, i was leaning toward the svs, but just wasn't sure. i guess i can always return it if i dont like it. i wonder if anyone has heard both the 25-31 and the 20-39..im curious as to how they compare at each volume setting (lower mid high) with music and HT. thanks again. anyone else?
  5. hey im another newbie that recently bought rf-35s and am very happy with them. well, i decided to get a sub next but after a couple weeks of reading reviews and opinions im kinda struggling to decide. im on budget. i dont want to spend more than 700. preferably around the 600 range. here are the variables: room is 18 1/2 x 12 x 8 foot ceiling family room - concrete slab 70 percent music/ 30 percent movies. music includes: pink floyd, zep, old vh, rock and roll basically. no rap. ive been playing guitar for 20 years, so i like sound detail. i do not want overwhelming bass. want it to mix in nice with the music. listening level will be moderate. not low, not too loud either. loud on occasion. a/v is yamaha rx640. yes, it isnt audiophile stuff, but like i said, im looking at a certain price range. your opinions will help. ok, i was kinda torn between hsu vtf3mk, vtf2, and the svs 20-39pci. i read lots of posts where klipsch rsw-12 and 15 are the best musical subs. im not willing to spend >700, so that rules them out. what do you guys recommend? i really just want something that will give nice bass and blend in well with my 35s at a price that makes sense to me. anyone who takes the time to answer, thank you!
  6. thanks much for the info on titanium versus aluminum...now my next question is...how noticeable is it? I'm going to audition the RF-35s again in a different store setting..but would like other people's opinions too if i can't get a good test at a store...thanks for replying
  7. I've thought a bit about things. the room i auditioned the RFs in was rather large compared to my home setup. I think that it was better suited to the RF-7s since they put out more sound at same volume setting. It really was too big a space to compare to my room at home. Ideally I would like to hear the SF-3 with a RF-35 side by side at home.....but...I can't. So, I'm going to give it another shot at another dealer where hopefully the area is smaller. But to be honest, I did not notice much sound (tonal characteristics) difference (if any at all) between the RFs (RF-35, RF-5, RF-7) except for the amount of volume pushed at the same volume setting. and no kidding, the SF-3 sounds pretty damn good. Actually seemed smoother than the RFs. Like I said, I'll try another place. I've returned the SF-3s and will keep an open mind. No reason to be biased since I don't own either anymore. Nothing to sway me either way now besides their sound. I wonder if the aluminum driver in the SF-3 causes for more smoothness in mid-range compared to the titanium of the RFs? Anyone know for sure if aluminum driver compared to titanium driver has affect on sound? Is it significant? The size of the room probably affected my opinion at first though. The room was very wide, long, and with a high ceiling. Definitely made the RF-7 seem to stand out since it could push more at the same volume setting. I guess it is a good marketing ploy for those that don't think about room size. lol. I'll repost some time this weekend if I get to hear the RFs in a different setting. I'm sure most of you know what you want, but in case there is someone else out there that is new to Klipsch that gets so hooked on an SF-3 after visiting a best buy that they are on this board, I figure it couldn't hurt to post an opinion for them. Peace
  8. ok, i went to a dealer today and checked them out. you know what? sure, the klipsch are better sounding to me than boston acoustics, b&w etc. but, it's odd, the SF-3 just sounds better to me than the any of the RFs. Call me crazy, that's fine. The dealer was using a Rotel tuner. I don't get it. I mean i think the sf-2 and sf-1 sound like crap, don't get me wrong, but i just really like the sf-3. i guess my taste is cheap. lmao. anyways, im settled with what im going to do now. just need to research about the other components though. i may go RF for them. thanks anyways.
  9. I did do a search. But did not find ANYTHING on SF-3 compared to the RF-35. Seeing as how the SF-3 and RF-35 are in my price range, I'm only interested in those models, not how any of the other models, RF-5, RF-7, etc stack up to the SF-3. Thanks...... I think....
  10. I would really appreciate some opinions on the sound difference between the SF-3 and the RF-35. I know that rf uses the titanium tweeter and sf uses aluminum, along with the difference with woofers (copper), but how does that affect the sound? If there isn't much of a difference in sound, does the RF just have better quality components? any opinions related to this is appreciated. BTW, ive listened to the SF...but cannot find anywhere to listen to the RF...hence my question..Thanks in advance if you can help me out!
  11. Hi everyone, I'm new here and have a question about the SF-3 and RF-35...I know one has a titanium tweeter and the other is aluminum...along wtih the copper coating on the woofers...but how does that affect the sound? I know sound is different to everyone, but if I could get a general consensus on how these two speakers differ in sound I would be extremely thankful...and if sound isn't really that different, is it just quality of components? thanks again. oh, btw, i have auditioned the sf-3...but not the rf-35 which is why i am asking....
