  1. Hopefully they just need some playing time, what with new tweeters and sitting for who knows how long. In one of the Klipsch audio papers, PWK said that every speaker of every type (that they auditioned?) sounds best on the floor in a corner (raises efficiency, reduces Doppler distortion, makes best use of a speaker's dispersion pattern), and yes, he recommended placing them along the long wall. The dispersion pattern of most speakers is such that angling them in at 45 degrees gives a wider sweet spot for good stereo effect, since those sitting off-center will be farther off-axis relative to the speaker nearest them (which makes it sound quieter) and more directly on-axis with the speaker in the far corner (making it relatively louder, thus offsetting the difference in physical distance). A center-channel speaker is not necessary, but will tighten image localization and, provided the center channel is adjustable in volume relative to the side channels, allow the user to spread out or collapse the left-right spread of instruments (I think Klipsch used the example of reducing the center channel volume for large orchestral works and raising it for more intimate jazz trios).
  2. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? La Scala, one only, and no current desire for change 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 25 3. What is your current age? 44 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? When I bought the La Scala, I did not live in a place where I could properly position a single Klipschorn, let alone a pair of them. My intent was to listen to the La Scala in mono until such time as I could move to a place where a 3-speaker array including Klipschorns would be possible. I preferred the La Scala's shape, lower price, and simple black-lacquered birch finish over the functionally similar Belle Klipsch. I don't remember what other Klipsch speakers may have existed around 1985, but I don't consider anything other than the "heritage" series to be worthy of consideration (though my older brother likes his KG2's, original sealed-enclosure model). 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers (new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? Possibly a pair of Heresy's. I never realized the goal of living in a home that had a room with suitable corners and a 32-foot diagonal to accommodate Klipschorns. My "serious" listening room is currently a small upper room in a diminutive <900 square foot, 1 1/2 story house in which resides a full Linn system including the bookshelf-sized Sara loudspeakers. Now middle-aged and firmly entrenched in the rewarding but financially non-lucrative field of education, I have to acknowledge the probability that I will never move from this small, but comfortable (and paid for!) home. When my Linn LK2 amplifier, or the Sara's, dies, I am not in a position to afford the cost of a comparable replacement--Heresy's and/or a decent integrated amplifier are within my means. My lone La Scala continues to serve faithfully in the one suitable corner of the slightly more spacious downstairs living area. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? No.
