Unless there's a thunderstorm or you won't be around the house for a few day or more, leave the 4.1s on. ---------------- Hi I'm back again but this time I'm asking the question with a different twist. I was wondering if the same principle applies with the 5.1's (Ultras or not)? The reason? I'm getting a second set but this time a 5.1 version. Or are the 5.1's more robustly built and can withstand the power strip and UPS setup. Thanks again for any expert views.
  2. You mentioned that you have 5 scalas, 2 khorns and 2 ksw's. From the photos and your description all I've firgured out is that there are 2 scalas and 2 ksw's in the rear and 2 khorns in the front and a scala behind the screen. Hmmm ... that totals 3 scalas, 2 khorns and 2 ksw's .... where did the 4th and 5th scalas go to? Can't seem to figure them out anywhere from the photos.
  3. Thank you for your helpful comments. At least I'm not in the dark about these things anymore. What are these 2 very important resistors that you're referring to? Just in case something bad happens at least I know what to check .... like I mentioned earlier, I live in a country where brownouts happen and makes me think that even if I leave the power on, a brownout might still zap my 4.1 unexpectedly. Makes me feel sad ....
  4. Thanks for your advise. But I do find it funny and strange that in spite of it's great sound, the 4.1's are not robustly built to withstand frequent on/off treatment on the main power? I wonder what the engineers at Klipsch got to say about this? I live in a country that experience occasional power brownouts which to my mind is much more scarier than having to permanently switch off the mains when not in use and back on again when I want to use the 4.1. ---- What if I used an solid-state AVR that had a few seconds "delay" circuit upon power up? So as not to immediately jump start the voltage but gradually bring it up to level when switched on? Will that still be bad for the 4.1's? Am hoping to hear some official reply from one of the Klipsch engineers. They should know their products pretty well on this aspect.
  5. Ok so you guys say that turning the 4.1's with a surge/power strip is bad .... hmmmm ..... my question now is .... but what if the surge/power strip is plugged into an AVR? Will that not at least keep the current at bay plus the surge/control strip? Wouldn't that be a safer method? Awaiting your replies on this matter.
  6. We bought a lot of Klipsch speakers for our classrooms so we had our maintenance/building crew pr-fabricate some aluminum wall mounts for us. We unscrewed one of the original leg mounts and used that as our model (specially for the area where the bracket slides into the bottom part of the speaker).
  7. I bought my PM 4.1 BRAND NEW on Dec. 13, 2003 as a Christmas present for myself! I was blown away and impressed by the clarity of sound of the 4.1. I'm from the Philippines. Now, it is Mar. 16,2004 barely 3 months since I bought this set. I turned it on one day so I could watch and listen to some concert DVD's I just bought. All my equipment including the PM 4.1 is plugged to a power strip so all power is cut-off when I switch off the power strip! Sad to say, there was no power from the PM 4.1 - I checked the internal fuse and there wa nothing wrong with it. I am very much disappointed that such an expensive piece of sound equipment should "konk-out" so fast! My family has other sound equipment from the old Sansui's, Kenwood and yes even the old RCA's some dating back way back when I was still in elementary school when I was around 9 or 10 years old - now I am 44 years old and they all still work, maybe not as good as before but they still perform well. So I am really disappointed why my suppsedly Brand New PM 4.1's should die on me in a span of 3 months! Gosh! The dealer told me to bring it over for repairs/checkup - just adding to my already stressed life and schedule! I really like the sound quality of the Klipsch but if they break down this easily then what's the use and a waste of money and time on these "high-end" equipment! Really .... am very disappointed!
