  1. Hello ! I was wondering which one is the better option to connect my DVD player to my AV Receiver. Any sugestions?
  2. Hey Fellas ! Great News !! I got my AVR430 fixed. Payed about $50, and had the receiver checked and repaired. Aparantly the relay was out. Anyway, the receiver is back and my RF-7s are singing !!
  3. Hey RM111 ! No, the amp is out of warranty...just over a year old. Besides, I bought it in Dubai, and I live in India, where unfortunately Harman Kardon doesnt have a presence. Tried mailing them, but have'nt received any response yet. I'm so screwed !!
  4. DrWho, thanks for your response. I didnt notice anything funny before this equipment started malfunctioning. Power supply in India is pretty erratic. Can voltage fluctuations, etc. be the reason for this?
  5. My view is, if there's a short somewhere, the system should switch to standby immediately...why is everything fine for about 20 odd seconds and then the switch to standby ?? Any ideas?
  6. Cant just throw away a $800 receiver, Dr.Who !!! The damn receiver works fine .. but only for about 20 sec, before it switches off to standby mode. Maybe a power problem ??
  7. Thanks for the quick response !! I unplugged all the speaker cables from the amp. But the amp still switches into the standby mode. The amp switches into standby mode even if i donot give any input (ie. play a CD/DVD) in some time (as mentioned before). Any other sugestions ??
  8. Hi ! I got myself a pair of RF-7s and a Harman Kardon AVR-430 a year back. Now, i know they arnt a perfect match, but my budget restrictions didnt leave me much of a choice. And besides, I just HAD to get the RF-7s ... it was love at first sight !! Anyway, the system was working perfectly till about a month back. All of a sudden, the system (i.e. the amp) would go into standby mode after a few seconds (vary between 10 and 25 seconds). During the power on mode everything works fine. The sound is good, no distortions , nothing. The system just goes into standby mode after a while. Its been a very frustrating few weeks, tried to check the wiring n stuff..everything seems to be in place. I donot have a power conditioner (stabilizer) , but i plan to get one soon. But could anyone help out in the meanwhile? Donot have any harmon-kardon service centres here in India. ANY tips/sugestions will be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Thanks guys. Really appreciate your inputs.
  10. Thanks guys. I got a coax cable from QED. Sounds good. My friend told me that he could lend me his optical cable for me to try for a few days....will let u know my opnions on that.
  11. I was wondering which would be a better option....an optical or a Coaxial cable to carry signals from my cd player to the amp. Thanks
  12. Yes...I finally bought a pair of RF-7s(Cherry) this saturday. I have dreamed of owning these speakers for a copule of years now...I used to frequent these forums some time bak...now that i own these babies i'm gonna be a regular here. I bought them for $2500 from the local dealer in India. They are being powered by a Harman Kardon AVR430 receiver (65 W x 7 / 80 W x 2). I'm using a Pioneer DVD player to play Audio CDs and MP3 discs. I'm also using QED cables and a QED Coaxial cable to carry audio signals from my DVD player to the amp. I had a demo of these speakers at the local dealer. There, the RF-7s were powered by a Sunfire Ultimate Receiver (200W x 7). Sounded brilliant... But at home these speakers dont sound as good. I feel it lacks base and some low midrange (I own a Promedia 5.1 and that system gives a lot of bass). Is this usual? 1. Will the speakers sound better after they break in? 2. Should i have used an optical cable instead of the Coaxial? 3. SInce the RF7s have dual 10" woofers i thought they would be enough for my base requirements...do i need to get a SUB now? 4. Is there any adjustments I can make to improve things? I have already set the speakers to Large mode. Any help will be highly appreciated......
  13. Hi I have just purchased the Harman Kardon AVR 430 Receiver and was wondering if i could mate it with the Klipsch RF7s. The reason I ask is cuz the amp rating is only 65W X 7. All comments will be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Hi Cliff I am from India, and I own a klipsch 5.1 too. I totally understand how you feel, and beleive me, if the same had happened to me, I would be considering burning myself up under a NASA rocket exhaust or something. However, since you live in the US (i think), why dont you call the Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service Toll Free: 1-888-554-5665 Mon - Fri, 8AM - 5PM EST They will be the best people to guide you on how you can fix your system. A word of advice. Always connect your electronics through a good spike buster. A good spike buster will go a long way in protecting ur gear. Also, when you are not using the system, switch off the main speaker switch (the one on the rear of the sub). I know its a pain cuz or its inconvenient location, but like they say, better safe than sorry. Good Luck!!
  15. Hi ! I have heard that in order to get the best of a HT system based on the RF-7, you must use a "High Current Amp". What is a high current amp? How do you know if the amp you are going for is high current or not? Does it make a difference in the clarity of the sound from the speaker??
