  1. I finally got my speakers finished. The bass horn is constructed from 1/2 inch MDF. Pictures of the bass horn construction are posted on an earlier thread titled Cornerhorn Project. The removable front raised panel as well as the top horn section made from solid 3/4 inch Purpleheart. Purpleheart is a South American hardwood.I used new K-33woofers purchased from Bob Crites. The mid range horns are Altec 511b's dampened with asphalt sheets from Parts Express. The Atlas mid range drivers also came from Bob Crites. The tweeters are Beyma CP-25's. The ALK Engineering designed crossovers are home made. The rest of the components in my system are as follows: McIntosh 2205 amp,McIntosh C-26 pre-amp,Micro-Seiki DD-40 TT with Grado Reference Master,Pioneer RT-909 reel to reel and a Teac A-3300 SX reel to reel.
  2. Jon, It sounds like what you need are new Pinch Rollers. They are readily available for Pioneer and Teac Decks. I don't know about Tanberg, however. Check on E-Bay. Don
  3. I used Altec 416-8A woofers in a set of K-Horns as well as a set LaScalas I've built and they sound great.
  4. What is the best way to dampen Altec 511B Horns?
  5. These are some pictures of the finished bass horns with a MDF mock-up of the upper horn box. The horn box will be made out of solid hardwood in it's final form.
  6. Michael, I tried every combination of EV, ST-350, and baby cheeks I could think of and couldn't find anything. Don
  7. I was thinking about using Beyma CP-25 tweeters in my DIY K-horns.Recently I found what I thought was a pretty good deal on some EV ST-350 6"x5" baby cheek tweeters.Has anybody out there had any experence with these? Or should I stick with the Beymas?
  8. Here's some more pictures of the Bass-Horn assembly.
  9. Chris, According to my plans the dimensions of the top piece are 32 1/2" across the front and 13 1/2" down the side. That would make the angled section about 14 7/8". Don
  10. Hey Guys, I was planning on using Beyma CP-25 tweeters in my DIY K-Horns but I found what I thought was a pretty good deal on some EV ST-350 6"x5" baby cheek tweeters on ebay. The ebay item # is 5750320734. What do you think,Beyma's or EV's?
  11. I started some assembly today. Here's a couple of views.
  12. D-Man I bought the plans on E-Bay two years ago. I suspect that they may have originated from Speaker Lab. But I'll tell you what, the plans are excellent as far as the dimensions are concerned. I know this for a fact because I already built one set and they worked out great.
