  1. I didn't say it the right way: If a society doesn't exercise self-restraint will the result always be it will become a degenerate mass? OR, is a lack of self-restraint just one of several possible causes ofna degenerate mass? OR, does the degree of self-restraint of a society have any correlation at all to whether it is a degenerative mass or not?
  2. That might be self-censorship, but it could also be self-restraint. It could also mean that you considered it a complete waste of your time to respond to those engaged in the conversation.
  3. Now there may be something which is completely interrelated. Is a society a degenerate mass because they are incapable of self-restraint?
  4. They were wrong, you didn't censor yourself. I don't think you technically exercised self-restraint because you already had posted it and deleated it later. That is more akin to changing ones mind ("thinking better of it upon further reflection"). It is a sign of of the most advanced of intellectual thinkers.
  5. Are they all standing in one corner of the fence?
  6. Exactly. The lay meaning you quoted has a particular meaning. A goverment entity that reviews material and determines the material violates a rule, code or statute. I.e. the Censorship Board in WWII, the local and state censorship boards that banned books and films.
  7. I heard the official Polk Audio forum loves talking about that topic over there.
  8. No, "censorship" has a unique and specific meaning. Self-restraint has more to do with living within the bounds of common decency that a "society" expects.
  9. It isn't censorship either. It is a prior restraint.
  10. Wow your right, it didn't end. Son of a gun.
  11. Has nothing whatsoever to do with censorship. It doesn't apply here. This isn't a free speech issue. Who took what position on euthansia is relevant how? Is that where we are going now, who picked on who, who jabbed who, what was debated, who took what position on what issue? If euthansia wasn't discussed enough in that other place start a thread on it and hopefully people can play by the rules.
  12. That does not look like it was made in USA, UK maybe?
  13. Your free to talk about his dad all you want. You know, Homer.
  14. The first MJ dispensary in Texas was licensed i. The last week. A positive, or window dressing?
  15. Good because it should all be about me. Thank you Dean
  16. I know. Now help me with Bart please.
  17. I'm more interested in Bart and if there are any good sources out there that challenge his view of "history" because it relates to my own spirituality and, well, I'm more interrsted in me right now.
  18. No, and you have stated the precise difference in and earlier post, and I know from our face to face discussions that you are way smarter than that. By the way I need to send you a PM to see you know of any good books or articles, scholarly, that refute the writings of Bart (I don't want to say his name because it reloves around a prohibited topic but I think you probably know the North Carolina professor I am speaking if). I have looked and have not really found anything.
  19. It seemed to me that people wanted to talk about everything but NoBS closing down. I was just curious if anyone had anything else to say on it. Members of NoBS had about 3 days to talk about it in their own thread, now it is here, and even one or two formers have stated in here that the thread should be killed. Is it because they think it looks like vultures hovering over a dead horse, or there isn't anything positive coming out, or everything has been said can be said, or maybe the next logical progression is to turn it personal and they want to head it off at the pass? I don't know.
  20. Yes, but there are no personal attacks as well. Very big difference.
  21. A jucy controversy that doesn't allow for politics, religion, etc. and doesn't allow for personal attacks. Hmmmm. Should disaster relief be the responsibly of the states and private charitable institutions? What regular members live in Florida and what can we do to help them? (That is too uniting, would probably fail). Does coach [ fill in the blank] know what he is doing.
  22. This is what you said: "Okay. I am really not trying to be argumentative and wish people who had no interest in this thread stop posting their opinion....That said, okay I may have misinterpreted your quote and regardless I haven't changed. " I was trying to figure out what you meant by people with "no interest" in the thread to "stop posting."
  23. It has sort of been hovering level for awhile. One positive is that people who didnt participate can get a rough idea, very rough, on how a thread would go in that other place.
  24. You meant "interest" in terms of being members of NoBS? You don't want non-members to comment about NoBS being terminated? If so, you need to take that up with Thebes for posting it in a public forum. He posted in thr farwell thread in the NoBS section, he apparently wanted everyone to know and be able to comment on it.
