  1. Go get them for $100. You won't be disapointed. I find mine are a little smother with better sound stage the my KG 4s Due to the single woofer I guess. Got my 3.5s from a shop for $80Can. They didn't know what they had. Good speaker. Hugh
  2. Hi all I'd like to get in on the debate but my PL 200 has a very noisey channel. Wondering if anyone can point me to a schematic for it. I checked at the above link but there's only the relay board. Thanks for the enjoyable debate. Hugh
  3. I have a set of KG4's that were funny sounding in the upper regions and upon inspection of the tweeter diaphrams found that the voice coil wire had become unglued allowing severe vibrations at certian frequencies. The coils would read good for DC R checks. I found this much more obvious doing tone checks from a test record as the distortion is easier to hear when listening to a tone. I believe I used a cyno to glue them up. They've been good ever since. Good Luck. Hugh
  4. The metalurgy lessons are very interesting but the proof is in the listening. I have rewired my LS, KG4's, KG3.5's and every other speaker that I have owned and have found improvments with all of them. Some more than others however. I think the biggest difference was with the KG4's and mostly with the tightness of the base. I truely believe that replacing the low quality hook-up wire (used in maufactured speakers for cost saving purposes)can make any speaker sound better. My favorite is the Monster XP because of its flexability and its easy to work with. I have used RS/UltraLink interconnect for HF drivers and find noticable improvment also. Just my 2 cents worth. Hugh
  5. Thanks Guys I decided on the ALK design as I can get all the parts (except the harmony caps) through my local parts supplier Munro Electronics. Also the posts about them seem very favourable. And I wondered what happened to the parts dept at Sonic Frontiers. I guess I missed the link on the Anthem page.???? Its bookmarked now but they don't list harmony caps. Would the Auricaps be a good substitute for the Harmonys? Any comments? Thanks Hugh
  6. Hi Guys I've been reading here for some weeks and finally joined. I'm going to build the ALK XOs for my LAS and was wondering if anyone knows a supplier of Harmony Caps in Canada. I was surprized to see Bob Crites here as I had bought a set of K75 diaphrams from him last year(off ebay) for a pair of Heresys I'd had for years. Thanks Bob. They are now my surround speakers. Its a pleasure to read the posts here as everyone seems to be having such a good time and I really enjoy the "Cheap and Inovative Ideas" that so many have. Thanks to All Hugh Morrison
  7. Hi Paul I rewired my KG4s with monster XP 16g for the lows and Ultra Link bulk IC for the highs. The big difference was in the base control. Much better defined. I highly recomend it. I use Monster xp for speakers just cause its's not to expensive and its easy to work with. Hugh Morrison
