  1. After reading about the benefits of spikes on speakers that are on thick carpet, I've decided that I'd like to spike my recently aquired Forte II's. When I purchased the speakers, they didn't come with stands so I can't put the spikes on the stands. There are already holes the bottom of the cabinet where the factory stands were attached, so I was thinking I could enlarge these holes and install the spike in those holes. My question is, do any of you know if this could be done without removing a driver...can I simply screw in the spikes from the outside??? If so, do any of you know if there is anything mounted on the bottom of the speaker cabinet I would need to be sure not to drill into??? I would assume that on the corners where the mounting screws for the factory stands were would be clear, but you never know. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!
  2. Yeah, if I can't find any factory risers, I may attempt to build some on my own.
  3. I purchased a pair of Forte II a couple of weeks ago and I got a GREAT deal on them, but they didn't come with the risors. I was just wondering if any Forte owners out there aren't using theirs and wouldn't mind parting with them for the right price. BTW...my Forte's are Oak.
  4. Well, I lost the auction on eBay at the very last second by $.29. Don't you hate when that happens! Well, I am still looking for a HK430. I'll keep my eye on eBay, but if anyone sees one or has one for sale, I'm still looking! Thanks!
  5. After doing some reading it looks like te HK430 is the route to go and its economical. Now I just need to find one of these puppies. If anyone has one for sale or know where I can find one please let me know! Thanks again for all of your help.
  6. Thanks for all of your input. I went look at the speakers and they were in excellent shape so I purchased them. I rushed home and wired them up to an old Sony receiver and they sounded great. I can't wait to hear them on a higher quality receiver.
  7. So even without the base they are still a great price. Cool! Thanks!
  8. I found someone in my area selling some Forte II's for $250. The only problems I see with them is that they don't have serial numbers sheets attached to the back and they don't have the platforms that came with them (see attached pic). Do you think this is still a good deal for these speakers??? I'm looking for my first pair of Klipsch speakers. My dad owns a pair of Belle's and K-Horns and has owned Heresey II's in the past so I'm already a big Klipsch fan.
