  1. My Velo is dying. Need some advice on getting something similiar in size (physical footprint) that will sound good with the RF-3 II's. Ideas? My buddy has an SVS and really likes it and has given me some advice on the SVS versus the Klipsch 12 inch - budget between $400 and $500.
  2. I bought RB75s and a RC7 from Brandnamez and was surprised that I did actually get what I ordered. You really do take a big chance that speakers may or may not work - I can't imagine trying to return something to these guys. They split my order into 2 different deliveries 2 weeks apart so I had no clue if I was going to get everything or not because they don't respond to emails.
  3. There should have been a list of codes that came in the same box with the 3805 but you are right it's not in the manual. If all else fails you can get the codes from the Denon website.
  4. We did a side by side test last night of the Velo vs. SVS. We both own Klipsch reference speakers so we can remove any thoughts that the speakers made the difference in this test. We first tested some movies with some heavy base scenes - Star Wars 2 the scene where the ship is landing before it gets attacked. The SVS shook the house but in a slow rumbling way. The Velo did not fare well - it seemed to rattle and sound like it was going to break to pieces. The next movie we tried was Behind Enemy Lines the scene where he runs through the gauntlet of mines. WOW I see now what the Velo offers big slam in you face for each explosion whereas SVS made the house shake but no salami slapping the couch. It was about that time when my wife yelled "turn it down" that we decided to test music on a day she would be out of the house. Does anyone know why the velo would have rattled for SW but be kick *** for behind Enemy Lines? I am assuming that it could have been a very low bass signal.
  5. Thanks for all of your comments - Since my buddy seems to be such a know it all I have convinced him to bring it over to my my modest HT and compare against my SVS PB2 ISD. I expect more of a punch from the velo but I don't think it will go as low as the SVS.
  6. My buddy has an old velodyne 10x sub that he wants to sell me and claims that it is a sealed sub and has better qualities for movies then a ported sub. I am confused to the seal sub vs ported sub and which is better can any one offer an opinion?
  7. MrMcgoo - you hit the nail on the head the Denon set the sub at 0 so I changed that to 10 and it made a huge difference I can now get the whole room to shake sounds awesome now I know what the big deal is with the PB2 Thanks
  8. I do have all speakers set to small - when I redid the auto setup Denon set them back to large. I switched them back and saw huge decrease in bass. Tom V thinks Denon may have defaulted the Sub to LFE + main so I will check that when I get home. I was totaly blown away with the sound when the fronts were set to large (I finally had some bass). When I set them back to small it was really tempting to set them back to large but I will wait till the SVS starts to work for me.
  9. I did here back from Tom V. at SVS. Although I was hoping not to have to spend any more money I may have to bite the bullet and buy the SPL meter and an AVIA disk. I just wish I had the time to play around this and make it work.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions - I redid my auto setup last night on the Denon 3805 the Klipsch RB75,Rc75 abd RS35 sound awesome but not much coming out of the sub. If I crank the gain I do get boomy sound but it does not really match anything that is going on in the movie. If I leave the gain set at 1/3 to 1/2 it does make some noise but not much. I don't know if the Denon has an LFE that can be adjusted so I will check that out tonight. I sent a note to tech support so I will wait to see if they respond.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions - I am trying the pod race on star wars and a scene in behind enemy lines where Owen Wilson runs across the mind field, darla on Nemo as the source material. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the port that I leave unblocked - i.e. leaving the the top port open vs the bottom.
  12. I got my PB2ISD 2 weeks ago and I still am underwelmed. I have tried moving it aroung the room in the corners away from the corners still not having much luck. I was told that it should rattle the windows and shake the house but I can barely feel it. I can hear it so I know it works but there is not a huge difference when I have it off vs. on. I have it tuned to 20 and crossover set to 80. The room is 12 x 14 with a Denon 3805 as the reciever. Does it matter which port I plug? I don't have an SPL meter and maybe that should be my next step but any suggestions would be helpful. I think SVS may be having some email problems because I never seem to get a response from them other than the sales dept.
  13. Tom, You may be having problems with your e-mail. I have sent multiple emails within the last few days with no response.
  14. Which SVS? Good question after doing some number crunching I am thinking about going for the RB75, RC7 instead of the R35s. Because of that I figure to go with the SVS PB2+. It might be overkill but might as well make the right decision now and go bigger. Now the question is whether to use RS35 or RS75 for surround.
  15. Thanks for the input! SVS looks like a great deal and I am going to go for it.
