  1. Hi! I have a couple of architectural speakers and noticed that there's an "IR Sensor Mount" on them. I can't seem to find any reference to it other than a mount. I was wondering if somebody could explain this a little and how it may be utilized. Thanks!
  2. Hi! I had an "expert" install the speakers in my new house, and he used 4 R-3650's and 1 R-5650. The 5650 was stuck in the right rear and I moved it to the center channel. I'm guessing they brought a wrong speaker and just used it anyways. In either case, the center channel is a R-5650 that's mounted horizontally, instead of 'vertically'. Since the tweeter is a 90 x 60 degree tactrix horn, is the orientation wrong? Can you unscrew the 4 screws around the tweeter and rotate it 90 degrees, so it's the correct way? Thanks!
  3. Thank you for your information. It's so great that tech support from klipsch chime in on these forums. This is one of the major reasons why I want to stick with the brand; I feel comfortable and at home here. Anyways, thank you again for your information. I dug up the manual to see exactly what it says. Turns out that it goes... POWER OUTPUT AND TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORATION: With 8 ohm loads, both channels driven, from 20 - 20,000 Hz; rated 120 watts per channel minimum RMS power with no more than 0.05% total harmonic distortion from 250 millwatts to rated output. So, after reading this...and please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like the receiver puts out 120 watts per channel RMS...right? I just wanted to make sure...and if this was the case, I think that I should maybe think about using a little larger of a speaker instead. Thanks! Mike
  4. Hi! I have a pair of Reference that have used for about 5 or 6 years now, and absolutely love them. However, they are a little large in my living room now and would like to get something smaller. I'm looking at either the Quintet III's or Cinema 6. My main concern is the power handling from my receiver. I have a Sony STR-V555ES receiver, that outputs 120 watts x 5 channels into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.05% THD. I was wondering, are these specs too much for the small Cinema 6 speakers? On the web site, they say only 40 watts RMS. Am I going to smoke them if I use them? Thanks in advance.... Mike
  5. Small chicago house, a lot of furniture! I think what we're going to do is move the TV from the corner to where it was in the first jpeg from dr.who. This will at least give us an idea of how it looks around the room. If it looks too cookey, then I think I will just stick the surrounds to where they were in the original picture I drew up and see what happens. I really miss not having the rear fill, and the rears have been sitting in my basement now for about a year and a half. But thank you again for all your feedback!
  6. Thank you very much for your information, especially Dr. Who's picture mods!!!! I'm just having a hard time, as you can all see. I originally had the TV setup in drwho's second pic, where is was against the wall where the longer couch is now. However, the TV stuck out about 3 feet and didn't allow much room to walk around. We moved the TV to the corner, so it would be a little nicer looking, and it is...but i'm just having a problem trying to set everything up. I think I might run the first drwho jpeg across the gf and see what she thinks about it. I was originally thinking about that setup, but not sure how everything will fit. Looks like I might have some moving to do this weekend!!!! :-) Thanks again for all of your help! Mike
  7. Hi! I'm having a few problems trying to arrange my speakers in my room. Any help would greatly be appreciated. To describe my setup, please check out the pic. The room is 16x12 and I have tried to do the best I can with the pic! The "Arch" description is an archway, the one on the top leads out to the front door, the one to the right of it on the rear wall leads to the dining room, and the arch on the bottom leads to a hallway that connects all the rooms. I have a pair of Reference RF-3's for my left and right (represented by red), a center RC-3 (again, red but above the tv), and two surrounds RS-3's (represented in yellow) for my rears. I haven't set the rears up yet, but plan to do so soon. I have a Sony V555ES receiver, and a 32" TV (represented in the pic). I've had my equipment for awhile, but because of the goofy layout, I don't know how to place the speakers, especially the rears. I was thinking of mounting them towards the ceiling, but don't know how many inches down. I can mount a speaker above the arch, but it would probably be about flush with the ceiling if I do that. I was also thinking of getting the klipsch satellite/subwoofer set. I *love* the sound from my speakers, but I just think it's too awkward for this room. Another problem is money, in where I don't have enough to get the sat/sub combo. So, I'm pretty much stuck with what I have... Stuck, meaning the room, not the speakers!!!! Again, any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
  8. This posting may be a little outdated, but here I go... I have a sony ES receiver from a few years ago. I forgot hte model number, but it's either 555 ES or 333 ES. To be honest with you, I'm not a really huge fan of it. Why? It's too hard to setup. The documentation is HORRIBLE (doesn't explain what things mean). I don't know, just overall, I'm not really happy with it. I have all sony components, and it seems like the slink just doesn't work how the instructions says it works. I do have a sony XBR tv and that, I can say I am happy with. But as far as the other components go, I would look elsewhere. If I had the money to get a new receiver, I think I would go with denon or maybe an onkyo.
  9. Ahhhhh..... I thought the instructions said to mount them about a foot down from the ceiling. I never sat down and smiled with the surrounds yet and I've had them for over a year. I'm watching this concert on hdnet and the surrounds are really starting to bug me now because it sounds horrible. I guess I should probably get some stands and mount them ~ a foot above the ear level!!! Doh! :-) Also, would you recommend mounting them on the side of the listener, in line with the ear or behind the seating position a little bit? Thanks!
