  1. Found this on craigslist. Anyone who is close it would be good buy! http://omaha.craigslist.org/ele/346640609.html JC
  2. Good point, but the drive is 4 hours away, and it doesnt work out with my work schedule, and weekends are pretty full. So I might just have to compromise and say to hell with work for a few hours and go down there. We will have to see, I will post more on here when I have the sub in my hands. JC
  3. That might work for me in awhile. I am not in the area of IL, but close by, being IA. I found a sub listed on Craigslist. The seller doesn't want much for it, said it was all computer designed by a friend. The amp is an Apex Junior, which isn't very powerful. The seller doesn't remember what the woofer was in the enclosure, and has no time to rip it apart. Here is the link, It looks very well made, but I would have to see up close to tell. What are everyones opinions on this one? I should be able to pick it up sometime this week, I hope!! http://iowacity.craigslist.org/ele/337466200.html JC
  4. I was thinking about buying the Dayton Audio 15" powered subwoofer kit from partsexpress.com. It is selling for 249.00. I was just wondering opinions on this subwoofer kit, or are there other alternatives that would be better for around $300. This sub would be playing in a room about 15x20, but the walls are very thin and let alot of sound through. I will have this sub hooked up to my HK 3480 and pair of KG4's. Thanks for any input or ways I could improve the question. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-770 JC
  5. What is normally stuffed into these huge enclosures then? Would I need alot of watts to power a pair of these in a small room (dorm size)?
  6. Has anyone used or currently using the JBL 4507 speakers? Just curious because I might be able to snag a pair here at college.
  7. Well I know its not much to work with, but I am going to try it in a sealed box anyways. I might also just play around with ported boxes.
  8. I was wondering how much it would cost over all to have crossovers in my KG4's reworked, with different caps and such? I am working on a budget for this summer, and I hope this would fit in. I am running the KG4s off of a H/K 3480 right now. thanks for any input JC
  9. Hello, I am on my quest for a DIY subwoofer. I already have the sub, but I am looking for an amp. I might have found one on partsexpress.com. Anyway, my sub consists of a Cadence Flash 154 with the t/s parameters as follows. The amp I am looking at buying is a 250 watt rms @ 4ohms. Here is the link http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-793. The question I have is what type of box should I make considering these specs. I will use the sub basically 60% music 40% movies. Any input would be well heard. 10. As mentioned before with the HK x30 line, currently i am listening to a 430 with a pair of KG4's and for music it is great. I also have the 3480 HK, but if your set up is for music go with the KG4's and a 430 or bigger old school Harman Kardon. I like my set up!
  11. I just found this post on here about a DIY project which would be great for me over the winter break here at school http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/755981.aspx I might give this a try, but i need to find room for 5 cu. ft. of box in here

    BearShare?

I am current using bearshare to download music on my laptop. You can download the entire album from them and not have to sort through songs, I thought this was a great option to use, but when songs are finished downloading they are in .wma format and they are protected which means I can not burn them to CD's. Is there a way to convert these files to .MP3? Is there any other way around this people have heard of? Thanks
  15. Sorry about this mistake, would this make the songs on my computer sound better, or would i need to convert the files into something differernt? Thanks for the input
  16. I was using my computer with my old reciever and it sounded about the same, but louder. The Bass is set at about 3/4 little over and Treble is set at about 3/4. The Vmax isnt on either
  17. Are you using the number cruncher with your computer? desktop or laptop? How did you hook it up to your receiver? I was looking at getting one to use with my laptop but it looks like the 203.2 has a single digital input and the output from my computer is a small headphones jack that i use a cable with that converts it from the headphones style to two RCA jacks. Would this still be possible to use with the 203.2?
  18. Im using a Gateway laptop and running the sound from the output on the front of the computer. It most likely has a sound card inside the unit, but it seems like when i listen to music it doesnt sound that great, do i need an external sound card for better sound? If so what should i get, im on a very limited budget since im in college. I saw a USB converter that had a single digital output, but my new HK doesnt have a digital input. Any ideas and opinions would be awesome! Thanks JC
  19. I just picked up my H/K 3480 from the mail room this afternoon. I pluged in all of my AV equipment and hooked up the KG4's. I let it warm up for about an hour before playing any music into it. Then I started to listen to some music from my computer at low volumes, it seemed very quiet compared to the AVR 130 I had driving the KG4's before this. I am confused. At higher volumes the 3480 sounds awesome!, but I have to turn it up all the time to get a good sound out of it, and then sometimes it really doesnt sound that great. Is there anything im doing wrong, anything i could improve on. Is there anyone out there that owns a 3480 I could talk with for awhile about this? Thanks alot guys and gals JC
  20. I would run it alone with the KG4's in another room, but im still in college and well im limited to one room. I really dont know why i bought both the 3480 and the 430. Well i guess i bought the 430 because i wanted to hear what everyone else was talking about. I will hook them up together at one point, but i will demo each of them alone compared to my AVR 130, which at this point didnt sound to great tonight i have no idea why.
  21. I will make sure to clean the entire unit out to make sure i get the best sound out of it. Where would i pick up cleaning supplies to do such task, we dont have a rat shack. Is there any specifics i need to know on how to clean the 430.
  22. I think i might try the 3480 as the main receiver for my video inputs, and then use the 430 just to power my kg4's, maybe get another pair of kg's but the room is kind of cramped. Has anyone in here done a wall treatment behind their speakers, like foam or someother sound treatment? If so what did you use and where did you get it? The college dorm walls just arent cutting it, really thin and i think all the sound goes through them especially with the KG4's woofer on the back.
  23. greetings! I just won a HK 430 on EBay! After reading most of the reviews about the 430 in the forum, I decided it was my time to enjoy it. Now I have to wait for it to get here, dont know how long i can wait though. Its going to be close to see which new piece of audio is going to get here sooner, the HK 430 or the HK 3480, either way in about a week i should be doing pretty good. I know the 3480 has outputs for a differnt amp, could i hook the 430 up to the outputs and use it to power my kg4's, or should i just listen to them separately and decide on which one to keep?
  24. Thanks Again to Daddy Dee! The item is listed on ebay and its well below the retail price of $150.00 so I think I'll try it out and see how it works for me! Thanks again! JC
  25. I just purchased a new Harman Kardon HK 3480! Now im just going to wait for it to come in the mail. After looking at HK's on ebay i noticed a product from HK called the EZ Link DAL 150. Would this be an effective product considering about the only source i use for music is my laptop? Would the EX Link hook directly up to the 3480? It says this product will convert many MP3 files for audio use on many recievers. How many of you out there use D/A Converters? Has anyone used this product and does it really help that much? Thanks A Whole Lot!!!! JC
