That seller is an idiot. Remember when he tried to sell them a couple of weeks ago?

Hey Thumpelstiltskin , Did you get your signature from an old Hank Williams Sr. song ? " My buckets got a hole in it , I can't buy no beer ? " . Anyway unless you can go and see these Belles in person , I would avoid this seller like the plauge !!!

    ----------------

That right, SB Willy. Hank was one of several people/groups to record that song.

As for looking at the Belles, the seller told one guy that asked to see them, "Sorry but the listing offer does not provide for auditioning or viewing--Thanks for your inquiry anyway and have a nice day".

    Rick.

Maybe I am just a grouch, but I have been looking for Academys for ever and I check Ebay every two days to see if I can find a set, and without fail someone posts the link on the BB. Very generous, but if people really want them they would be looking for them. Its very frustrating because people that buy and sell for a living watch theses sites and snipe the nice equipment so that it never goes cheap. If you want to know why they are going to be bid into the stratosphere, IT'S BECAUSE YOU ARE TELLING EVERYONE AND THEIR GRANDMA THAT THEY ARE OUT THERE AND TO GO BID!!!!! This one is classic because they were not listed as Academys in the heading, and very few people check the descriptions.

Posting a warning that they are damaged is really helpful, ie the set from Florida that I asked about and got a close up of some really nasty damage and I posted it here so that no one got ripped off. But people who know what it is will find it, you are just chumming the water and making it hard for joe average to get one or a set.

There I got it off my chest, I feel better, but if you really wanted them you should have just bid on them, not taken out a nationwide ad for the seller.....

Take it easy, man. Maybe you just need to hear a bug joke (or two).

"A grasshopper walks into a bar. The bartender says to him "Hey we a have drink named after you." The grasshopper replies, "You have a drink named Murry?"

"A snail is returning home late at night and has to cut though a dark alley. As he is passing through, he is mugged by two slugs. Later on at the police station, the officer asks him,"Can you give me a description of the assailents?" The snail ponders this for a moment, and then replies, "Gee, I'm not sure... it all happpened so fast."

    Feel better now?

  4. Here's a good deal on a projector. It's listed in Yahoo classifieds, so I would suggest using an escrow service, or maybe someone here would help you with it. I'm sure there's someone on the forum from the Portland area.

INFOCUS ScreenPlay 4805 Projector. All cables, remote control included. Retails at 1099.00 never used. $500. Call 503-620-1814 ask for James. Portland, Oregon.

Here's a link to the actual ad: SP4805

    Good luck, Rick.

  5. There's a pair of Cornwalls for sale in Ogden, Utah......about 500 miles from Denver. It would be a 16 hour road trip, but you would avoid the shipping cost and hassles. Here's a copy of the ad:

"Onkyo Tuner, Pre-amp and pwr-amp. Klipsch cornwall spkrs. Sony 5 cd and JVC single CD and Teac Cass. All for $750. 435-730-5155"

If the Onkyo amp is an M-504 or better, you could sell the electronics and get some, or all of your investment back and keep the Cornwalls. Just a thought.......

    Rick.

  6. This ad is in a newspaper from High Point, North Carolina. I just called and a very nice lady said she thinks the front speakers are RF-3s, the surrounds are RS-somethings, and the center is an RC-3 or RC-35. There's a subwoofer, but she didn't know the model number.

That's just six speakers if I'm counting correctly, so there must be a rear center or two subs. I didn't ask about the electronics. The price sounds high if there's just the speakers and a receiver (depending on receiver model), but someone might make an offer or get the seller to split things up.

"YAMAHA Klipsch Entertainment System. 7 speaker & receiver, $3,000. Call 336-471-8543."

    Good luck, Rick.

Here is a picture of the units I bought. What do you all think?

You got a great deal!! The HK PA-2000 is only 45w X 4 (or 100w x 2), and the AVR4800 has 125w X 5. If it was my deal, I'd sell the HK amp to get most of my $300 back and enjoy a nearly free receiver! Then again, you might want to use the amp to run additional speakers.....ya' done good either way!!

By the way.....The page that compares a receiver's true performance to its advertised specs says the Denon AVR4800 actually provides up to 148w x 5!!

    Congratulations, Rick.

  8. That reminds me.......

"Gas station neon sign, orange and white

Winks an eye and it whispers, Goodnight.

Drunk on the train to Chicago, I feel alright

    Half-pint of Dewar's White Label still half-full

The train lurches left, lurches right

Drunk on the train to Chicago, I feel alright

    I left a New York

Of gas bills and cigarette burns

    Wasted days of whiskey

    And As the World Turns

Train driver, hit the gas, shovel coal, move your ***

We've got a schedule to keep

Drunk on the train to Chicago, I fall asleep

And in my dreams, we're careening drunk

Down the streets of my hometown

The man in the moon is on benzedrine

    Merrily spinning around

    Bells ring and lights flicker

    Old girlfriends, good liquor

Hold my hand all through the night

Drunk on the train to Chicago,

    I feel alright

    I feel alright"

    One of my favorite songs.

    Rick.

  9. Audiomaniac,

    First, welcome to the madness.

I've had Heresys, Heresy IIs, Fortes, Belles, Chorus, and now Cornwalls. I personally like the Cornwalls better than any of the others.

By the way.... my room is 12' wide too, and even the Belles fit nicely with a 50" RPTV and a rack full of gear between them.

    Good luck, Rick.
