  1. I have been thinking about the same thing. My thoughts are to use a pair of Faital 8FE200 woofers like Bob Crites does for his CSC-1 center speaker they equal the same sensitivity as the Heresy speaker but change too the K700 mid horn and A-55G mid driver which I am using in my Belle's,  Eliptrac HF horn with B&C DE120 driver also using in my Belle's and I will build a crossover to match closely to the ones that I built for my Belle's. Just might be the Heritage center speaker we are looking for.

  2. I am kicking around the idea of building a center channel for my Belle's. My thoughts are to use a pair of Faital 8FE200 woofers like Bob Crites does for his CSC-1 center speaker,  K700 mid horn and A-55G mid driver which I am using in my Belle's,  Eliptrac HF horn with B&C DE120 driver also using in my Belle's and I will build a crossover to match closely to the ones that I built for my Belle's. So what do you guys think?  I appreciate any input Thanks Brian

I want to see a video of him tinning the ends of the Litz inductors. :-)

That would be a long video if it was me doing the work. I cut the to the length I want  and unwind a inch or so and use 220 sand paper to remove the enamel coating on each strand the twist back together. Tell me there is a better way LOL. And I am still interested in purchasing some transformers from you Dean. Thanks Brian

  4. Oh yea I guess my pass F5 amp just sound better and is has nothing with it only have 15db of gain. My Monarchy SM70 has to much gain I know that but still sounds great. FWIT I have two XPA-5 gen2 and one XPA-2 gen2 and was looking for a third XPA-5 gen2 to match the others.

Normally not a problem, but I don't have any right now, and need to order a minimum of 10 at a time to get them in here. I won't put that order in until someone orders a set of crossovers.

Thanks Dean no rush please let me know when you get them in and I will keep in touch with you. Again Thanks

Sounds right - $675 with shipping included. Shipping generally runs me $45 because of the weight (the new autoformer and low pass coil are much heavier than what Bob or Al use) - and then of course the oak and capacitors - all heavier than what's normally used.

Dean would you be willing to sell me a pair of your autotransformers.  Thanks Brian

So, the women hear better. :-)

The tap settings on your new network are now the same as a Cornwall. I can see where that might sound better to you at live listening levels (loud), but that definitely wouldn't work for me at the levels I listen at - I prefer the Klipsch settings, which produce a flatter response. However, I also run Fastrac LaScala horns, which are certainly more laid back sounding than the K-400.

What capacitors did I use on your build?

Yes on your networks you used Jensen paper in oils and I wish I could have used them in mine. In my build I used  ClarityCap ESA  250V in the tweeter and squawker section and Solen Metalized Polypropylene in the woofer section. My tap settings on the tweeter is X and 4 down  -1db and like I said if building them again I would not bother using a autotransformer in the tweeter section. In the squawker section the tap setting are X and 3 down -4 there. If anything I need to drop down to -3  on the squawker to match the output of the eminence kappa 15c better. So to recap they can be built cheaper if you reuse the T2a autotransformer on the squawker section and a autotransformer is not needed on the tweeter section and reused the all the inductors off the AB networks.

  8. Ok it time for a update. So I put the new crossover in the left speaker and left Deang's A network in the right speaker. I have listen to them for a couple of weeks now and anyone that came over was made to listen none of them the new what or why they where asked to do so and the verdict is 7 out of 9 prefer the new network including me. The funny thing is that for some people it was immediate the new network sounded better hands down. I can tell you there is less hiss more focus and more laidback sound  with the new networks.  Well  I like them two thumbs from me I might be biased but 7 out of 9 people agree and the two that like Deans where women LOL.
