  1. The man who makes Fisher cabinets is Roger Brewster PH# 770-591-0125,he's in Georgia.
  2. Thanks..will the Pro HiFi link connect to the RCA aux. input on my Fisher 400 tube receiver? Looking at the HiFi link on Gateway web site, sez it needs a receiver with optical/digital inputs. I just found a few public radio stations that sound very good on web stream,WKCRW and WKEXP. Cheers, Robert
  3. Thanks..But I give up! I hate the techno stuff! just wanted to see how it sounded, listening to web streams. I don't like it thus far. I'll stick with my old analog tuna. Cheers, Robert
  4. Has anbody tried one of those Crane FM transmitters,or similar device, that you hook up to your computer and broadcast web streams through receivers in your house? THinking about getting one. Or what's the best way to hear web streams through my system? Cheers, Robert
  5. Hiya,I do,I'm lucky to have 2 very good Public Radio stations that play all the types of music I listen to. So we mainly listen to the radio. Anybody tried one of those FM transmitters that you hook to ur' computer and broadcast radio web streams over any stereo in the house? Crane sells one for $69. Thinking about getting one. Cheers, Robert
  6. Thanks Dodger, I sent you a PM. I must of had a poorly recorded DVD,later I played a CD and switched between CD and the tuner section on my Fisher 400 receiver and the volume level stayed the same. I only have one Aux. input on the Fisher and 3 components, extra tuner for hard to reach stations,dvd/cd player and vcr, that I need to plug into it. That's why I use the selector box. Cheers, Robert
  7. Hi, I have a dvd/cd player and an extra SS tuner and vcr plugged into one of those $14 Radio Shack audio source selectors boxes, silver has four push buttons, which is connected to the AUX. rca jack on my Fisher 400 receiver. Well I don't get the same amount of volume from my dvd/cd player as I do when I play the tuner. Should I just try out a better Auxuliary Input Selector, such as the $74 Niles AXP-1? Or are there others out there too? HMMMM...I was just watching a DVD and had to turn the volume higher to reach listening level. Well I was thinking it was the cheapo selector box. I just now played a CD and switching from the cd and tuner the volume is the same. So it must of been a poorly recorded DVD. Anybody use those audio selector boxes with their Fisher or Scott to give you more inputs? Radio Shack stopped selling the 3 input 1 out put small black box one and only sells the big silver one with S video and 4 input RCA and 1 output. I have the old style black box on my other Fisher 400 in our computer room. It has 3 input and 1 out put RCA only no hi-tech S video, but they stopped selling those. Cheers, Robert
  8. Go to http://www.antennaperformance.com/ Ed Hanlon will hook you up with a APS antenna. Lowes sells the poles and Channel Master rotator. Cheers, Robert
  9. Many thanks Rick.I'm sorta hunting more of a round brass maybe a thick puck, more form than function. But those cones could work, the price is right.

  12. Hi, I would like to buy a cabinet for my Fisher 400 receiver. A fellow Merrylander on Ebay sells them. The problem is I had to close my EBAY account due to Identity theft problems. So I can't email Merrylander through EBAY. Could someone please go to EBAY item # 5746230102 Fisher 400 with walnut cabinet and email Merrylander and ask him to email me rlahser@carolina.rr.com so I can buy a cabinet. I would greatly appreciate that. Many thanks, Robert
  13. I've decided to upgrade to a better turntable from my mint 1984 AR ES-1 table. Been waiting for a used VPI Scout to show up,well just now one for $1100 with JMW9 tonearm just showed up on Audigon,ad sez it's 2 yrs. old mint unused. My question,is there a big difference in a 2-year old Scout and a 2004 Scout? Cheers, Robert
  14. Thanks Dean, can't afford the Siemens anyway,I'll just get another set of $80 Russian Mullards for my Fisher 400 receiver. (It's modified to use El-34 output tubes) currently using Electro Harmonix in it. Cheers, Robert
  15. Thanks DEan, The Russian made Mullards have better bottom end than the Cayin Valve Arts EL-34. The guitar store owner also had a matched quad of NOS East German Siemens for $150,but I can't afford them. Cheers and Merry Christmas, Robert
  16. Thanks Craig, I hope Santa is very good to you this year for being such a nice and kind person. Blessing to you and yours. Cheers and Peace, Robert
  17. Hi Craig, many thanks for the info. I have my turntable connected to the low inputs on the Fisher. I tried hooking them to the high inputs but that cuts my volume by 25% just to see what the sound difference was. I'm currently using a 4mV output Ortofon Super OM 20 MC cart. When playing the turntable I have to turn the volume up at 25% more to reach the normal listening level, than when playing CD player or radio. I just tried lifting the tone arm and turning up the volume,I don't get hiss or hum untill I turn the volume up to about 12 o'clock or at half of full volume. Right now when playing records I turn the volume control to about 1/4 from full volume and when playing CD or radio I turn the volume control to 1/8 full volume for normal moderate listening levels in a small room. Customer service rep at VPI said the Dyanvector 10X5 cart a 2.5mV cart puts out more volume than most like shure. Cheers, Robert
  18. Hello, I'll probably buy a used Scout for $1150 with tonearm. My Bizzy Bee Fisher 400 tube receivers recquiress a phono cartridge with 4 mV or higher output.Any sugegstions for a cartridge for the Scout the Dynavector 10x5 is 2.5mV output which isn't high enough. I listen to all types of music on my Fortes. I'm currently using a AR ES-1 table with an Ortofon super OM-20 MC cart that has a 4mV output, would it be a fair match for the Scout. Cheers and many thanks, Robert
  19. Thanks Ben, I found a used Scout for $1150. I'll probably buy it. I listen to all types of music and will be using it with a restored Bizzy Bee Fisher 400 X tube receiver with Forte's. Is the Scout table, since it's not a suspension table, more prone to vibrations like when I walk by in my listening room? I currently have my AR table,a suspension table,on a very heavy entertainment center table and have no problems with shaking when I walk by it,the floor is carpeted. Also any cartridge suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need a cart with 4mV output or higher for my Fisher.I'm currently using a super Ortofon OM-20 MC cart that has a 4mV out put and it works fine. Would the Ortofon be a fair match for the Scout? Thanks again, Cheers, Robert
  20. I want to upgrade to a better turntable,I currently have a 1984 AR ES-1,thinking about a VPI Scout,BIX,or Linn LP12? Anybody tried a BIX? Bottlehead sells them. Cheers, Robert
  21. Howdee, I'm himming and hawing about selling my mint AR ES-1 turntable and upgrading. My Ar ES-1 I bought it in the 1980's has stock AR arm and new Ortofon OM-20 cartridge. So many choices, can't spend over $1600. Considering the VPI Scout, but would like to wait for one to come up used on Audigon or E-Bay. What table can you suggest or should I just get a Scout? The BIX on Bottlehead site for $900 with Rega arm sounds appealing too. I'll be using turntable with my Fisher 400 (X) Bizzy Bee tube receiver and Klipsch Forte speakers. Thanks for all and any help. Cheers, Robert
