  1. Since you bring up the feet - I have a question. I have my RF-7's sitting on a tiled section of our HT room. They are large ceramic tiles just in the area of the TV, mains and sub. Should I have my RF-7's sitting on those spikes it came with, or should I just have them on the plastic feet. I think the manual referred to them as carpet spikes, but I also seem to recall saying about putting a penny underneath them if it is a hard surface. They sound fine to me, but I was just wondering whether anyone had any experience with the spikes. Thanks.

    RF-7 vs RB-75

Paul, I just remodeled my whole room so I could upgrade from RB 35's to the RF-7's. (There was a short stint when I tried the RF-5's but didn't care for them). It has taken 4 months and more costly than I would care to admit, but the sound has been well worth it. I've heard of others that like the RB-75's as much, and some even more than the RF-7's. I have never demoed the RB-75's. However, I would say what everyone else has - you cannot go wrong with the RF-7's. If you have the room - go for it - you will not be sorry. PS, I really like my RS-7's for surround duty, as well as SACD/DVD-A.
  3. Mike, I started out last year with the RB-35's and liked them a lot. I upgraded to the RF-5's because they were on a BOGO free offer. I didn't care for the sound - thinking they were a little too forward/harsh. I wound up the year trading in for the RF-7's and boy am I glad I did. Very pleasant sounding, good extension, detailed highs. I would recommend the 7's to anyone looking for good 2 channel music, Hi RES or HT. I use them in a 7.1 set-up, and properly calibrated, they blend nicely with even my little RCW-5's planted in the wall behind my listening area. My Denon 2805 does a nice job powering everything, and I have experienced no problems with clipping. This is in a 15x25 room, and has plenty of volume, with lots of headroom to spare.
  4. Yes, I have. Started with the 25's, and moved quickly to the 35's. Within a few months, upgraded to the RS-7's. They are the grand-datty, but the 35's did do a good job. The 25's just didn't have enough output. I would recommend the RF-7's, but they are HUGE and stick-out. If you cannot incorporate them into your room, then I would go with the 35's.
  5. I have my HD cable box, Denon 2910 DVD player and PS2 all hooked up to my Denon 2805 via component. It handles the swithching just fine to my Mits. RPTV. I also have my VCR hooked up to the 2805 w/ S-video and it up-converts the signal to component. Despite being advised not to do it this way, I have not been able to appreciate any loss in PQ, and it saved me some connection headaches as well as cable costs.
  6. OSD will not be on at the same time as your source. Either watch a dvd movie or adjust your system, but not both at the same time. Unless you use the display on the front of the AVS. I've had mine for a few months now, and love it as well.
  7. They do make dvd albums like you are considering. I have a lot of "kid" movies and have put all of them in the 3-ring binders for dvds. The kids shuffle through them (and never put them back after watching a movie) and it works great. It also stores the card with the movie picture/name. Usually there is an inside card (with chapters) or you can slide out the front cover and store it with the catalogue. I have done this with 3 categories - "kids", "comedies" and "crummy" (those that I don't want to ditch but are pretty lousy movies). This leaves me with more room to display the better movies and those collector tins like Band of Brothers. Right now, I am having a custom cabinet built with a design that I came up with. Just simple shelves with pull-out pockets that will hold my dvds sideways. Like a magazine organizer, sitting on a shelf sideways. Hard to explain, but I think it will work out ok. Good luck and experiment.
  8. Tom, How can you purchase a Samsung TV on a Mits. account? Are they related? Thanks.
  9. The OSD works via component with my 2805, so I would guess that it also does with the 3805. I think the older models did not, but your 3805 should. Sorry, not sure what to suggest for your particular problem. I would check your set-up menu in the TV to make sure it is correct. I have Mits. "net command" and it requires a lot of tweaking before you get it just right.
  10. Looks like you are heading in the same direction I took. In the past year I went from RB-35's, to RF-5's, to RF-7's. I upgraded the center from the 25, to the 35, and now the RC-7. I've used the RS25, then the 35, and now RS-7's, and 2 in-walls for my surround back channel. I've noticed an appreciable upgrade in sound with each move. Despite getting a fantastic deal on the RF-5's, I just thought they were a tad bright in my set-up. Trading up to the RF-7's was a good move and I am really enjoying them (they are monsters, and you have to have the room). The RC-7 is without question worth every penny. If I were doing it over, I would skip all the returns and headaches, and go for the 7's all the way around. (However, it is sticker shock, and doing it piecemeal over the past year helped me with the WAF! )
  11. Just thought I would pile on top of the heap. Yes, it will make a dramatic difference. I had my Mits. 55" for about a year before I decided to have it done. Besides needing a thorough cleaning, it sharpened the picture so much, and gave a near 3-d quality to it. The HD signal was always good, but the SD signal was lousy. This made the HD even better, and the SD signal tolerable. DVD's looked great. The guy that did mine spent about 9 to 10 hours on it. He was in a trance the whole time, and I don't think he would have even eaten if we didn't make him. (ie. a real perfectionist that loved his job!).
  12. Scooter, Those pic are awesome. Printed on glossy, as you said, and I will be framing/hanging soon. Thanks a bunch !
  13. I have a pair of them sitting at home in the boxes, just waiting for my contractor to install. (ie the replacements for the RCW-5). Haven't seen the specs listed anywhere. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they sound ok as my side surrounds. Yes, it was a WAF issue to trade in my RS 35's for these new in-walls. Redoing the whole room, so it may be a few weeks before I can give any feedback on how they perform.
