Thanks, SW. 'll give it a try. In the past it didn't help me much because I would always hit the volume on the knob, thus further complicating matters. I'll try to stick with the volume on my computer only, and see if that helps. I like not having a subwoofer on or under my desk, and these do a pretty decent job in the bass dept. w/o.

I haven't logged in for a long time, but was finally getting so fed up with my computer speakers, I decided to check out my old fav Klipsch website. I am a loyal Klipsch fan, and that is why my 7.1 home theater has Klipsch RF-7's, RC-7, RS-7's and RCW-5's. Well, a few yrs back, I bought 2 pairs of these computer speakers - 1 pair for work, and 1 pair for home. I love the sound, but hate the static, popping in and out sound, and having to turn the volume knob to get them to work. Much to my surprise, I started reading this thread. I got through about 3 pages and quickly learned this is a design or production flaw. I am disappointed, as I also purchased in-ear monitors and I love them as well. I suspect that many others did what I did - just put up with it in frustration for a long time. Now what to do - junk them and buy something else? Take them apart and monkey around with them, spending more time and money, for a possible fix? I also expected a little better from my beloved Klipsch. I'm sorry, but the copper image on my Klipsch licensed plate has been tarnished a bit.

Very sweet, indeed. Are those over on display at Ovation's new showroom floor? I got a flyer the other day...may have to stop in and check them out, just for the fun of it.

Q: Where exactlly is the foam supposed to be located inside? Mine is along the bottom and extends up toward the driver, just covering the bottom of it a bit. Is it supposed to be tucked all the way down below the driver? Does it really matter much? I know, if it sounds good, don't mess with it. I'm just curious.

I've been car [au] shopping the last month, and reading auto forums instead of A/V. Just tuned in today for a moment. Glad to see that I haven't missed anything significant. Kind of like the daily soaps, I guess. []

I've not been impressed by the movie theater for over 30 yrs or so. The picture and sound quality (or lack thereof), the mess, uncomfortable seats, etc. I took the kids to Nat'l Treasure 2 this week, and WOW was I impressed with the eye-popping color, crystal clear Huge widescreen and great sound (I hope they were commercial Klipsch!). With a new AMC theater nearby (Indianapolis/Castleton) I couldn't believe the dramatic improvement in equipment. while I love the High Def at home (bluray and Comcast HD), I will definately be going back to the movies once again. Other than an occaisonal trip to the local IMAX, I had pretty much given up on the dinky screens and artifact laden excuse for movie houses that have been churned out over the years. If you've not been to a theater lately - give it a try. Big, comfortable, roomy seating, and awesome picture (must have been 1080p)/sound. Any of the locals checked out that theater yet? Anyone else have similar experience? Just curious.

Ditto to what drpayne stated above. Yes, i was referring to 1080i via component, for bluray sources only (not upconverting - as stated earlier, it does not). I just bought a Wii for the kids, and really didn't want another gaming system, but really, why not, when it doubles as a darn good hi def dvd player, and gives you the gaming to boot. I'm still sold on it, although I wish they would have included an IR sensor in it, instead of exclusively bluetooth. For a work around though, I bought a cheap IR remote sensor plugged into the usb port, and learned the commands on my Universal remote. The fan noise is not really an issue.

DrPayne, I'll keep a lookout for you. I just finished the single player a few nights ago, and played online for the first time. It was a lot of fun, but I got my a-s handed to me on more than one occaison! I increased my rank some, but where do these people get the cammo? Jay, The PS3 is really a great little machine. I was going to wait it out, but then after Thanksgiving, Walmart had an online promotion that you could get the 80gig PS3 and walk out of the store with 10 free bluray movies. With the mail-in rebate for 5 free, I ended up with 15 free movies - a deal that pushed me over the edge to make the plunge and risk winding up on the wrongside of the format wars once again. As the days pass, the deals will get more enticing. I love this PS3 and am glad I made the plunge. Besides the obvious high quality picture and sound, the gaming is unreal. First a word about the picture and sound. I have an older Mits RPTV with no hdmi. I am using component only, so highest resolution for me is 1080i, instead of being able to view 1080p. The picture is fantastic. I don't even want to watch one of my older movies on my Denon, which I thought was pretty darn good at the time. My audio is via optical. I understand to utilize many of the new formats it needs to be via hdmi. Well even though it is optical, when I select losless dolby or whatever special options the movie has, I immediately notice the substantial improvement in sound. It is rather dramatic, compared to my Denon with standard dvds. I'm sold. The ps3 gaming is awesome. I just have the free game (Motorstorm) which is racing, and 2 others. One is Call of Duty 4, and it is incredible. I just finished it today, and couldn't believe the realism and sound. It pushes the limits of 7.1 surround sound, as bullets and explosions immerse you in the action. I also tried the online gaming of it, and got my head handed to me for about an hour, before I had to settle down. It is really cutting edge and unbelievable if you haven't ever done it. I have also used the hard drive to load pictures. It is really easy, and you can play some really cool slideshows of pictures, all in high def. You can connect to the internet very easily through a wireless connection. It was really easy to connect and run updates of the firmware. You can download trailers and additional gaming content, such as video for new games coming out (a la Gran turismo 5), and add ons for other games. My point is this - I was a disgruntled consumer, and was planning on waiting for the war to end. It probably will switch to downloadable content, like Comcast "On demand" and others. However, I decided to take advantage of this while it is around and so affordable, and glad I did. At least it will be fun for a couple of years, I hope. Only you can decide what is best for you, but I can't imagine you will be disappointed with any HD movie machine you wind up getting. Good luck and have fun....

This game is a "Must Purchase" title. I just picked up the PS3 over Thanksgiving, and started COD4 this past weekend. It is unbelievable. I cannot compare it to the other games you mentioned, because I mainly liked driving/racing games on the PS2. The graphics are spectacular (1080i) for me (component connection). The sound is out of this world, in 7.1. The use of the surround back and sides is awesome, and the overall sound is exceptionally well done. The story line is immersive and addicting. I was playing last night, and then had to put on my wireless headphones, as everyone else in the family had gone to bed - next thing I knew it was 11:30 pm, I had flown in helicopters, launched assaults, shot about every weapon I could think of, and been part of a nuclear explosion ( of which I did not survive.) Learning the controls was not hard at all, as that was one of my biggest concerns. I don't usually have large chunks of time to devote to gaming, but this game is simply incredible and well worth the time and expense. I was floored by the level of realism and engaging storyline in this game. I do not believe you would be disappointed in it.

I would highly recommend The Polar Express. Besides having a "train-loving" 8yr old at home, when that steam engine comes rolling in, your whole house will be a shake'n. It's a lot of fun and remarkably well done.

Yes, happy belated b-day Roger! From another soon to be 46 er. I hope you enjoyed the excitement in the dome, because it was a pretty big let-down at home. Lets hope Marvin and company get healthy in the coming weeks. Save yourself the trouble - don't watch it again. Wait for the rematch.

Weren't we supposed to be driving "flying cars" to work by now - like the Jetsons? I'm tired of adopting, just to have to change things out again. Like that SACD/DVD-A player I just had to have. Guess I'll just give up on Quadrophonic sound. So just how long can this Blue Ray/ HD DVD battle rage on? I'm sitting this one out, until they are giving them away - wait, they are almost there already. Guess I'll have to break down soon and jump on the bandwagon. When is HDMI 1.793,200 coming out? I hope it is in time for Terminator 45.
