  1. I guess x-10 is the current replacement for UPB switches that have been used for a long time in the past.

I work for a company that does home automation/home security and we currently use x-10 and we find these to be 99/100 reliable as opposed to the 9/10 reliability of UPB switches.

Its a good system to go with...we currently use parts from a company in the States called HAI and they give pretty good products. The other great thing about HAI is the integration that can be made within Windows Media Center; this integration can allow remote access from anywhere in the world to control electronic switches, watch cameras...turn on music, call up a neighbor etc.. etc.... With x-10, things are responsive all the time...there is no fear of failure and no down time. Much easier to program. I guess the reason why we prefer HAI is because of the integration that can occur with WMC.

  2. I should add, I never wanted to bring up my large speakers to my girlfriend/future wife because something inside me told me it wasnt a good idea. My mother hates large things...and after a conversation with my girlfriend, I got the same.

SO I figure...this is how I figure, if I have the audio gear before getting married...what can she do, right? Part of my package, so to speak.

  3. Well said NOSValves...

I agree with everything except what you said about detailed conversations. Women are very artificial, a lot of the time. They often compliment each other out of spite and on and on. Not bashing anyone, you got to say your things...so its only fair. Yes, Men like their big toys...cars, audio etc...but a good man always provides for his family and honestly: what more does he need to do? We cant have both man and woman caring about the aesthetics...otherwise there would never be a La-Scala...and any other speaker, other than little cubes.

Men dont need (*think they dont*) to converse in order to express opinion because they develop opinion on their own.

  4. I honestly love the sound of Aragon (had the 4004) but those were beafy amps from back in the day that were really built solid (60 or so lbs for a soild 2 channel amp). Even the 2004 is a great amp...

but the new Aragon amps do throw me off a little because of the weight. I dont need the 7 channels and will not need them before I end up selling and buying something else anyways. If there was an Aragon 3005 going, I would definately jump on it...despite all I have said.

I am also strongly considering a Rotel 1095 but I seem to have got the best price on the Parasound (1300, all inclusive).

I guess for driving really efficient speakers, it doesnt really matter! The only problem I find with the Rotel is that it takes some "loudness" before they start opening up (at least with my 1075 it did).

My other concern...that perhaps someone could address...

I dont think I can afford (Currently) a Parasound or Aragon pre/pro but I can definately throw in 1 grand for a nice Rotel or Outlaw pre/pro...

Do these pre/pro's color the sound of my amps? Am I just wasting my money by having two differently "voiced" separates? Or does it not have any effect?

    Thank you!

  5. I decided to just plunge right into separates (I had separates before but I sold my rotel combo...sigh) instead of being a cheap-a$$ and starting with a receiver.

I dont really need the 7 channels but maybe in the future?

I would really just like to get the 2005 or even 3005 but I have a lead on a 2007 that fits the bill.

Descisions, descisions...the parasound is tempting as well...Opinions?

    Thanks!

  6. Just looking for a nice receiver that can act as a pre/pro, when I go into separates down the road.

I have been doing some major downsizing recently and abandoned most of my systems and amps, just wanted to start over...haha.

I want to start off small,

maybe like a denon 2805? Any suggestions?

  7. Klipsch LaScala - 9/10 (Mint condition) condition, from 1987, light cherry lacqueur. This is a local pickup only as they weigh 120lbs+ each. Amazing sound, huge sound, definately the speaker to have! These are simply amazing and will blow most people away! (original boxes included).

    Original AL crossovers.

I need the space right now and I know I am going to regret it but maybe down the road I will come accross something else...

The price I am asking is fair: 1200 for forum members.
