  1. [Message cross-posted from the Aragaon General Questions forum] I have a four-year old 5.1 system powered by an Aragon Stage One preamp and a 2000 Series power amp. A couple of days ago after inserting a cd I realized that I wasn't getting sound out of either my sub (Klipsch RSW-12) or the center speaker (Klipsch RC-7). When I checked the level settings using the Stage One set-up menu, neither the sub nor the center channel produced any sound at all. The sub amp is fine [worked perfectly when connected to a cd player.] Any suggestions?
  2. I finally got around to hooking up my Denon 2910 DVD player to my Panasonic AE 700 projector using an HDMI cable, only to encounter a major problem. Although I was able to obtain a signal, it was not stable. After a few minutes, the screen would flicker. At times, the image was lost completely only to be replaced by "snow." Sometimes the snow lasted only a moment or two before the signal was restored. At other times, the snow would last for a minute or more before resetting to the proper image. Can anyone here explain why I'm encountering this probelm? I'll confess that, owing to the layout of my room, I have to use a rather long HDMI cable (35 ft or so). Could this be the problem? If so, will I encounter similar issues running a component video cable that distance?
  3. I have a projector set-up identical to yours in the basement of my house (Panasonice AE700). Like you have have pretty good light control (one egress window, covered, or soon to be with a dark curtain). The room itself is rather large (28 x 23). My viewing habits are pretty much the same as yours and I, too, have to get HDTV off of a satellite. After playing around with the projector for a couple of weeks, I decided on the 52 x 92 Day-Lite Perm Wall (fixed mount) screen which, I believe, makes my diagonal something along the lines of 110". I went with the grey and have been very happy with the results. Although the blacks from the LCD projector probably wouldn't satisfy the most dyed-in-the-wool videophiles they strike me as pretty darned good on the grey screen. Whatever you do, though, I'd recommend going the HD screen route. While there's not alot of HD programming available yet, once it becomes more widely available, you're gonna want a screen with the proper aspect ratio. (IMO, the AE700 is simply frickin' incredible for HD programs).
  4. I have a Denon AVR-3805 for sale. The unit was purchased new from an authorized dealer in late November. Although the box has been opened, the receiver has never been used. PRICE: $975 (shipped, UPS Ground, to anywhere in the lower 48 states) PM me for more information. S. Palmer
  5. Thanks to everybody for the input. The separates are coming from an authorized dealer and are brand new. Looks like it was a no-brainer afterall. Again, thanks for your thoughts.
  6. Hi All, I imagine that this will strike many of you as dumb questions, but here goes. I will be purchasing a Klipsch 5.1 set-up for my HT (RF-7s, RC-7, RS-7s, and an RSW-12) for which I have already selected (and bought) a Denon AVR-3805 as my power source. A couple of days ago, I was given a chance to buy an Aragon 2005 and Stage One preamp for $3900. I hadn't planned on spending that much to drive the speakers (hence the Denon receiver) but the price of the seperates strikes me as pretty good. First question: is $3900 for the Aragon seperates an OK, good, or great price? Second Question: is the difference between the Aragon seperates and the Denon going to be *that* noticeable? Thanks
