  1. here is something i have recently began to wonder about, i have done some extensive upgrading of the system have most of the new gear am waiting on the amps and tuner the system currently consists of blueberry pre amp, dynaco st 70, basis 1400 with a grado ref. sonata, and la scalas with newly rebuilt to spec AA Xovers, the speakers are about 11 feet apart setting in corners toed in at 45 degree, i set about 8 feet away centered, the room is about 11 feet by 20 feet (listening room and kitchen, seperated by a carpet strip) my observance has been that soundstage is really not all that good most time occassionally i will have decent soundstage but most of the time, you can tell the vocals are from the right or left i have a set of craigs vrd's on the way what contributes the most to getting good soundstage i am kind of limited in my room for setting the speakers a differant way and no way to get them out of the corners will th new amps help with this? Joe
  2. hello gary i got the grado sonata referance with the package deal on the table, table rb 300, incognito upgrade, grado, and the basis record clamp all in excellent shape 1380 delivered to my door in 1 day, i hooked up the rx 505 and it sounds and works great (a light squeak when you hit the stop button) i also ordered a marantz 120 tuner with the wooden case that should be hear by friday at latest, this little upgrade project is nearly complete, i would like to get the cleaning machine then i will figure all finished thanks for the input mark i kinda figured the pre-amp would still perform to spec i was referring to the amp it is old as you know and has not been upgraded still alot of the original parts in this one so im sure it is not up to par have to put in ther crossovers toni9ght that bob sent back and see the differance in the sound from the scalas lots to do thanks for all the input and gary dont forget if you want to compare the vrd's in your home i would happily come by one saturday (after i get them of course) Joe
  3. well after initial set up and a short listening session with a less than stellar amp the basis 1400 really shines, crystal clear sound, super detail and seperation hard to beleive the differances i must have heard dark side of the moon a few hundred times and today for the first time i heard a new bell in the background during the alarm bells segement, unreal what a good table and cart will bring out sound wise, on the down side it also picks up more background noise (static etc...) this may be solved when i get a vpi 16.5 i hope i am sure my new blueberry has something to do with the gains in sound also i heard a deffinate differance in the quietness of the pre with nothing on except the amp , and i also seem to have gained some volume from the dynaco st 70, it has a weak channell and the seperate gains on the pre are super for this problem just turn up that right channell gain a little and they sound much closer although im sure this is throwing some of the sound out of proportion this will be a moot point when the vrd's arrive so no need to worry about fixing that now, i should also see some gains in sound when i get the aa crossovers that bob sent out late last week i understand they will make the scalas sing even better, well gotta go hook up the totally restored nakamichi rx 505, and see how this guys work is will post more when the system is complete Joe

Does anyone on the forum have a nice side view of a Blueberry with the standard maple bodied case that they could post up so Joe has something to decide on for VRD finish ? Joe here are the 2 VRD finshes Walnut http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/SS_VRD.jpg" border=0> Maple http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/VRD_MAPLE1.jpg" border=0> ---------------- beautifullllllllll, as much as i would like all the gear to somewhat match i really like the walnut over the maple, so i guess ill have to go with walnut, its a hard life aint it Joe
  9. i have some albums mostly classic rock, i would trade approx 125 i can email a list if someone wants it, i want a nakamichi dragon or a rx 505 cassette deck also looking for a tube tuner Joe
  10. thanks for all the help, ben appreciate the compliment i think this table package will do me for a long time it stands yards above my existing tables according to all i have read, only reason i was able to get to a system like this was selling off my existing system, and selling off my harley 1 piece at a time, seems weird how parting th bike brings more money than selling it whole i will post a review of the system after i get everything here Joe
  11. mark ill be having my blueberrys and cream on monday evening, glad to hear that you have first hand exp. with the rb300 set up that makes me a little happier, craig wants my existing pre-amp i said he has to wait till i get the berry, CANT WAIT. i have to let craig know what type wood trim to put on my vrd's do you recall the prominant color on my blueberry, i want to match the amps wood to it thanks for all the input Joe
  12. yes it was included in the sale i would have liked to get a much higher table but alass i am a poor man and have to take baby steps, one of the reviews i read said something like the 1400 is entry into audiophile and the ending, i guess trying to say a person could be happy with the table and wouldnt feel the need to upgrade further. i will get this in and set up and play with it as is for a while before i worry about a new arm, the rb 300 that comes with it has upgraded cables(incognito), sounds like the guy was tweaking a little and just decided to drop the knot on a high dollar setup im hoping my upgrading is done with after i get the vrd's from craig, the blueberry will be here monday, and this table by wed or thursday at latest, craig said vrds would ship by may 20, all i will need then is a quality tuner vintage tube maybe, and would like to find a nakamichi dragon or rx505, that should keep me smileing for awhile Joe
  13. yes it was the combo on audiogon and yes i bought it, i found some information on the net about the qualit7y of the table and the quality of the grado, what i could find the set up would have cost approx, 2500 or more new so 1380 shipped seemed like a good price, and the reviews i read about the table were good i also listened to garys basis and it was awsome although it was a much higher model, i figure a company that puts out top dollar equip isnt going to hurt there rep by putting out junk, the grado also has alot of good reviews and a going cost of 500.00 new just seems like a sweet deal have you heard this table or cart Joe
  14. need some opinions on the value of this set up, basis 1400 TT, with the rb 200 and incognito cables upgrade, and a grado sonata referance cartridge, can buy this shipped for 1380.00 is the grado considered a good cartridge thanks Joe
  15. thanks for the correction gary i get so excited looking i forget the exact lettering, and i try to ask about certain items before i buy as i am not above being taken for more than something is worth at times Joe
  16. thanks to all i do apporeciate the advice Joe
  17. i have a few items, thorens 160, with a stanton 681 cart, pro ject rma4 with sumiko pearl dual cs 5000, with a audio tech a scott lc 21 pre-amp a dynaco st 70 looking to upgrade my turn tables, always looking for klipsch, or high end cassette deck Joe
  18. thanks rick table was listed today and is sold already i just missed it (buzzard luck) Joe
  19. hello again is 1100 a good price for a gently used aries scout, seller also has a benz micro H2 cartridge will throw in for an additional 600. are these good prices thanks Joe
  20. anyone know if i am limited on my cartridge selection when my blueberry arrives, mark emailed me said it went out today, but im looking for a new turntable and was wondering about the limitations for the cartridge Joe
  21. im looking at 2 tables to upgrade from my presentr table, i currently have a dual cs 5000, a project rma 4, and a thorens 160, i am now watching a vpi 19 MKIII, with a E.T.2 tone arm (looks alot like a linear tracking deal)the table has a benz glider L2 cart with about 700 hours on it, table is in great shape and has the alu. spike feet for isolation cost is 1300.00 the other table is JA Michell techno deck, with the rega 250 arm, no info on the cartridge yet, table is also in excellent shape asking 900.00 i want to get a table that i will more or less be able to use the rest of my life and not worry about upgradeing again thanks is advance for all the help Joe
  22. trying to find out if 1300 is a reasonable price for this type table, and how well does this type arm perform looks kinda like a linear tracking set up thanks Joe
