  1. Audio Flynn: Thanks for responding. I've done several mods to most of my amps but will be talking with craig on more! I've got 2 sacd players, a modded 563a and a denon 2200, may possably be interested in something better for redbook performace. I'm running one of those tube buffer deals between my player and preamp with good results to my redbook operation. I have a dared tube preamp plus a couple dynaco pas3's and an eico hf 81 that I may look into mods's for. If I came accross a quality unit for a good price I'd be interested. "Get a classic or Heritage speaker pair. Something about a 15 inch woofer and a squacker." I build speakers and have about 12pairs allready but no vintage klipsch. You think a move to a vintage pair will be a major step up from what I have now? Again thanks for the input!
  2. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>It would be nice to do a get together in the early winter to break up the monotony. It would be nice to hear the RC-7 with tube amps. I have lead filled Sanus stands.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ____________________________________________ I'd be up for a winter get together. And yes I'm really enjoying the rc-7's with my rogue 88 amp. I'd be willing to hall them over someones place to see what others think. Could probably use the stands too as I've got a makeshift setup right now. Anyway's just me thinking outloud. ____________________________ Hate to post things on others threads but I've got a thread going that you gentleman may be able to contribute some answers or suggestions on. (link below) If this is inapropriate I apologize in advance! http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=58134&sessionID={DAD098B6-841A-4F13-B389-09331F67425E}
  3. rf3iicrazy: Just spoke with craig on the phone and I may go see him this weekend seems like a good guy! I'm on his website right now! Wow! Impressive how indeapth he seems to be. Your right though I may get lost in the world of little glowing bottles! spoke with him a little on one of my st70's seems he's got the same mod with some suggestions. (I'm intrigued)
  4. Deang I have a post going (rc-7's as mains with tubes) started yesterday I believe in the 2 channel forum. would love if you may have some input to any of my questions! Yes I've seen some of your posts with the rc-7's (I love em) Good to hear from yu!
  5. Don't know if you guy's are still around or do anymore of these get togethers. But I'm in michigan (warren) and I'd like to attend one of these functions if I may. Got a few pieces of tube equipment to share with the group to test. Also recently I've setup my rc-7's as mains powered by a rogue 88 in triode mode and I'm extremely satisfied! some tube stuff I have would be 2 golden tube audio se-40's modded. 3 st-70's one modded with triode front end. various tube preamps and a tube cd buffer! Anyways that's me, New to tubes and klipsch about 2 years ago! I build speakers and like to mod things! Later!
  6. Coytee I suspect the room/speaker placement and not the amp! That chair right next to the speaker doesnt help and it looks like they may be towed in to far! I wouldn't worry about amp till you get them in the basement and setup properly. you'll probably be fine. ofcourse those are just my opinions, but that is what I see. As far as hooking both amps to the speakers and just switching one on. I don't think that is a good idea. maybe a switchbox is in order for that setup.
  7. Coytee while I can't reply with excact answers for you I'll give some thoughts. have you messed with speaker placemeant? towed in or out up or down? I'm in a simular situation as yourself. "posted yesterday (rc-7's as mains and tubes)" You should check it out! And I'm wondering what others recomendations might be for tube amp power. One thing I found intriguing about the amp I'm using "rogue audio 88" is the switch from triode to ultralinear Which in turn changes the power from 60 watts a channel to about 35 watts a channel triode. Maybe something like that would work for you. But I see no problem with switching between amps if you want to have more than one!
  8. No one has any amp suggestions, power requirements or whatnot? What would be the least amount of power someome would want to run on these? If your tube amp has 4 and 8 ohm taps, suggestions on which to use? Any benefits to some more powerful tube amps? I seem to get plenty of good bass, then fill in the real lows with the subs. I'm asking these questions because I'm just not familuar with klipsch and tubes."seem like a good match though" My room is fairly open "couple couches and what not" 15'x 25' (7' ceiling) "sitting about 10' from the speakers and there about 10' apart" Seem to image nice!
  9. Hello, new to the forums but I've seen a few posts about rc-7's as mains (mainly dean) Well I've had my rc-7 center for some time now and just recently picked up a second "been wanting to" And to me these things are amazing! I'm a tube guy by heart (recently converted) been rebuilding and colecting tube gear for a little while now. Anyways just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what would be some of the better choices of tubes for this setup, if there are any that may be better than others. what wattage? what tube? triode / push pull? set? At the moment I'm running a rouge 88 (6550 tube) in the triode switch mode at about 35watts. Seems like a great match. I've got 2 modded golden tube audio se-40's (6l6gc tube). I've got 1 st70 modded with triode (3)12at7 front end. and (2) stock st70's plus the rouge. Any biamping suggestions or speaker mods/suggestions? The speakers are on stands with the tweeter at ear level, it's been unbolted and turned. Running a pair of subs 10" powered by a solid state amp running through a dbx subwoofer processor! Running tube preamp setup (little dared 2 channel guy) Anyway's any help or chat is welcome! Thanks!
