  1. I needed a 3 into 1 component and ended up just buying a receiver that does component switching, as it was in the same price range as any decent switch box. Word of caution though, dont skimp on the 50 foot component cable. I bought a cheapy 30ft length off eBay and i see interference in the picture, which is a major drag.

  2. Thanks for the advice Influx. Im going to keep my eye on what i might be able to find on eBay for a good price. In the meantime i think ill use my my ksf 8.5 towers as rears and when i can find a C7 put my C5 in the rear center until i am able to completely switch over to the legend series. klf10 rears i bet is just insane (in a good way). My ksf's actually are a somewhat close timbre match the klf-10s, so until i can get my hands on the rest i will still be listening in style. Finding room wont be so easy though, these are not small speakers.

Thanks again. Anyone interested in swaps let me know.

  3. Long time reader, infrequent poster here...

I just began my upgrade from an original synergy series system (KSF's)

to a KLF HT by picking up some KLF-10s. I got them cheap because the

cases were a little beat. (since refinished them to look brand new!)

What surround speakers work well for 7.1 with a KLF system? And i

dont mean in an ideal world, i mean in reality. Theres no way i

can fit 4 more KLF-10s behind me! Do i go SB's, KSBs?

Also, does anyone have a modest priced C7 that accepts paypal and would

ship to NH? I see them on eBay once and a while. Do they always go for

    $300+?!! How about a swap for KSF-C5 + $?

Lastly, my ksf 8.5 mains are probably going to be put up for sale, dont

know if i feel like shipping them though. Let me know if you are

    interested. Serious offers only please.

    THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE!!!

  4. heres my problem...

i have ksf 8.5s for mains that i really like, their imaging is unbeatable for what i paid for them. i found a ksf-c5 center after reading rave reviews about it (not to mention its the correct center for my system). While it was on its way here i got bored, and curious so i decided to put an 8.5 under the tv as a center. it sounded awesome. a tiny bit too bass-y but barely. now i have the c5 hooked up and everything back to normal, but im unimpressed with how it sounds. its alright, but nothing compared to the 8.5...

is it true that ideally all your speakers should be identical?

or am i crazy for wanting to cram a huge floorstander under a 27" hdtv?

    any thoughts ?

  5. Hey thanks a lot,

I have ksf 8.5 mains and a ksf-c5 center on the way. i know lots of people get the taste of vomit in their mouths when they think of the synergy series, but im really happy with my 8.5s, even when i had them paired with an sc-1. Since they didnt make a bookshelf to go with these though, ill have to go with a newer synergy bookshelf, like sb-2 or sb-3 i guess, unless anyone has any better ideas.

  6. Hi,

I am soon going to be looking for new surrounds, for a 7.1 system. I am going to need to get 4 new ones, as the quintets i use for rears now are going to be demoted to computer speakers.

My question is, what type of rears should i get for a 7.1 system, bookshelves or surround sound specific speakers. Itll be used mostly for HT but i also will listen to SACD and DVD-A .

I would imagine the ss-1 or similiar bipolar/dipolar whatever speakers would be better because they project sound everywhere, but ive also read that they excelled in the days of prologic, and nowadays with 7.1 receievers, regular bookshelves or towers for rears are the way to go.

    any advice?

  7. hey all,

Currently i have ksf 8.5s with an sc-1 center. they work okay together, but i have also been reading alot of good reviews about the also discontinued ksf-c5, which is the correct match for my mains. anyways, anyone have any input on this, whether i should go on looking for the match, or should i just keep what i have?

also, if anyone is interested in trading my sc-1 for an old ksf-c5 i would like to talk to you. its strange, but im upgrading my system by reverting to an older speaker, so if anyone has an ksf-c5 and wants to upgrade to the newer sc-1 let me know. i bought it brand new about 3 years ago at Tweeter for 250 and its in mint condition.

thanks for your help and happy holidays

  8. hello,

I currently have ksf 8.5 mains with a sc-1 center. I was thinking about upgrading to sp2's and was wondering if its really even worth it. The specs on the ksf8.5s seem comparable. should i do it, or just wait till i can afford to upgrade to ref series? anyone with help on this id appreciate it a ton.

    thanks a lot
