I knew a guy in college we called Rubber Mat.

I'm not seeing any must-haves. Anyone else?

Wow. Hang in there, Dean! I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, and peace.

That's one deep groove record you have there, Christopher! Nice tight nuts, too.

Now, if those were USA Tungsols, I'd get excited, too!

Havent used a grado black. DId a quick image search and it looks as if the mounting holes on the cart are not threaded so the only way to go is with nuts and bolts. There are a number of carts where this is the case including the Denon 103 - one of he nice improvements with the zu versions is that the aluminum surround is threaded.
Mounting a cart with unthreaded holes is a pain compared to ones that are threaded. You can put the nuts on the bottom or the top. The bottom looks beter but it is way easier to mount the cartidge by putting them on top. BTW one of the first photos that came up on the search was of grado black with the nuts on top.
Josh
I prefer my nuts on the bottom. I find mounting significantly easier. And less painful.

One more place in my neighborhood to visit, but haven't yet been there. Looks pretty good, though. It's a small store that serves BBQ, too.
It certainly looks authentic, Dee. I like the name...

After putting this on the back burner for 6 months, I'm back at it, and ready to report initial testing is showing 5000cst to be the oil of choice! Hopefully, I'll wrap up the whole thing in time to take it to my daughter on Sunday. It will be mated with a vintage Pioneer SX-850 receiver and some JBL speakers, which she's been enjoying for a while. Thanks everyone for the help and encouragement!

Aren't the two condoms Ding Dong wrappers?I knew a guy who could rewire a Crown DC300 to put out 250 wpc using only a Ding Dong wrapper.
LMAO!
That's the same guy who could build a tube amp with a potato, a safety pin, and two condoms.....

You can safely use foil as long as you are sure of the electrical rating of it, I find the foil from a pack of cigarettes is generally good for 4.0 amps 120V. Baking foil, can be tricky as it tends to come in a variety of thickness', and always remember to not wrap the fuse more than once, doing this will throw all rating specs out the window. I tend to not use foil whenever possible, I prefer to dis-assemble the fuse, and replace the wire within.
Can I send a few of my fuses for reconditioning? Rewiring fuses is a lost art form. In return, I will rebuild an equal number broken golf tees. If golf is not your game, I can re-lead your Ticonderogas.

With the name Dude, and it being so heavy, I'd have guessed there were a few bowling balls in there.

I scored a beat up pair (but not too beat up) for $74.20 (that's $70 with 6% KY sales tax)
I can't believe how fortunate you are!! The tax rate in California is around 10%!!!

Happy Birthday, PWK! Gosh, he knew more about Klipsch than Tony Reed!

This guy knows more than just about anyone here about Klipsch. Thank you for "showing me around" Hope a few years back, my friend! I hope this one's a good-un.

That happens to me, as well. I right-click on the picture and choose "view image." Works for me!Sometimes the images get chopped in half when posted.

cartridge headshell photos

Michael, sounds like these repair guys have no idea what they're doing. I know your frustration, I feel it, too. There are so many little adustments that make huge differences in sound when dealing with turntables. When I found my Pioneer PL-41 turntable, I took it to a local expert audio shop to get a new cartridge, and get the thing tuned up. Turns out they missed a lot of things (including installing a cartridge that really didn't work with the arm!). I've learned a lot on how to set up turntables from the web, and in talking to various people. You absolutely have the mechanical aptitude to learn too, but it sounds like you're at the end of your patience.
