  1. OK, so I bought the MHDT Renaissance II DAC and my CD player is connected with a TOSLink optical cable. So here's the question: how can I connect my iPod to the DAC? What type of cable do I need? The DAC has two open inputs a BNC and a RCA. I tried a 1/8" stereo male to RCA female adapter and a RCA male to RCA male audio cable and a No Go.... OK experts, so what next to try....
  2. What are you guys using to connect your iPod to your two channel system? I have seen docking stations with built-in DAC's and or stand alone DAC's ranging in price from a couple hundred to many thousands of dollars? I'm not looking to break the bank but really want good sound quality. Any recommendations and thanks in advance, RW.
  3. What sub would the experts recommend to run with the Cornwall II's. Pushing the Corn's with a Carver M500T amp along with a Carver 4000T pre-amp. Thanks,
  4. Is there any burn in time on the new TI diaphram and new x'0vers, they sound aweweome, just wondering if they'll get a lil sweeter in time? Got my Carver C4000t pre-Amp deleveried today ,. and the M500t MKII should be ready in a couple more weeks. Can't wait to crank it up and blow my hair back........ RonW.

  9. Thanks guys for the replies, I like the GLS Audio and have to decide on plugs, locking or the BFA split type. RW.
  10. What's the best premium bananna plugs to use on Cornwall II's as far as fit, doubles or singles? Thanks; RonW.
  11. Thanks guys for the replies.... Amp sits on shelf with the pre-amp on top, the pre-amp is not as deep as the amp so it might be ok, but its still confined to he cabinet. I'll check out the fan though! RonW.
  12. Carver C4000 Pre-Amp, M500t amp (soon to be MK II), DTL-200 and TX-11a all live in the TV cabinet. What type of fan should I use to exhaust the heat or should I position the fan to blow across the amp? It might be tuff to cut a hole in the cabinet wall (wife) LOL,, Thanks, RonW.
  13. Do to my room configeration one cable length would be 30'(+-) and the other would be 12'(+-). Here are my questions: What gauge? Should I make them both the same length? Will the coiled excess length cause any problems? I'm waiting of my Carver M500t MK II repairs (re-cap and re-fresh), what are the best bananna plugs for the 5 way binding post and at the Cornwall II's connnection cup? The Carver M500t MK II pwer will be upgraded from 251 watts per channel @ 0.15% THD (8 ohms) to 395 watts per channel @ 0.15% THD (8 ohms) [8-|] [] [8-|] Thanks in advance.... RonW.
  14. Gaskets are dry rot and need to be changed. What material should be used? Thanks: RonW....
  15. BEC's or ALK's Crossover, which one would you use in a set of '87 Cornwall II's and why? I'm trying to figure this out to replace the following; Thanks, RonW.
  16. Took the woofer out and this is what I see, this is the crossover on a pair of '87 Cornwall II's. After 25 years do you think the the caps need to be replaced, or should I replace the whole crossover? Is this an easy task by just re-soldering the 3 blue and one yellow cap? What about testing afterwards? I was hoping to use the kit from Crites $58 verses the replacement kit B & K Type Cornwall II $265 as I need to get my Carver M500T amp recapped. The old and new xover doesn't look the same?? Thanks: RonW. '87 Vintage S/N's Old Crossover New Crossover
  17. Looking at replacing the caps in the crossovers on my 25 year old Cornwall II's. The speakers and the same age Carver gear has been in storage for 10 plus years. The gear needs cap replacements and I'm not sure about the Cornwall's. I hooked them up to an old Sansui (65w) and they sound pretty decent, cranked them up to about 12:00 oclock and the amp shuts down, not enough to drive them like the Carver M500t (251w). It's been a long time since I really played them hard and critically listened to them, so I not sure if they need re-capping as the gear does, the pre-amp and amp powers up and that's all. Bob Crites has a kit for $58 and complete replacement crossovers for $265, my question is how hard is it to rebuild them myself, I'm no electronics guru but I can solder a lil bit. What else is involved other than installing the caps, terminal strip and etc. on a block of wood, or should I leave it to the guru himself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks, RonW.
  18. I have a matching set of Cornwall II's, I think I bought them around '85/86, I am the original owner and they have been in a smoke free enviroment. They are in Mint+ condition with no dings or dents. What does the CII-WL mean? What is the current value? What is the difference between the CII's and CIII's? Thanks, Ronw.
