Yeah, I'll post some pics tomorrow. I e-mailed Bob Crites about it and he mentioned he saw some original crossovers that used yellow flat caps like I'm seeing (The heresy is from 75). It'll make it tougher to recap, but I'll be giving it a shot
-
I just bought a single Heresy off ebay and opened it up and noticed that the crossover was reworked with what seems to be a flat capacitor. I couldn't read the manufacturer too well, but I wanted to see if anyone else had seen this done before.
Also, I noticed the craft paper that usually lines the speakers (at least in my cornwalls) was removed and the speaker is now filled with a stuffing like material. Should I make any changes to this?

I currently have a HK AVR-146 and I'm happy with it driving my Cornwalls. I'm looking to upgrade to something that will process the HDMI inputs for the Dolby/DTS HD formats coming from my PS3.
I'm currently looking at the HK AV-254, Onky TX-SR606, and Sony STR-DG820. The HK is currently more attractive because of the preamp outputs, but the others are significantly cheaper. Anyone have experience with these?
I'm going to be going to a full Heritage 5.1 setup. Currently, I have a pair of Cornwall mains, Heresy center and I'm in the process of acquiring the rears.
-
I'm also curious if it's ok to place the heresy sideways when used as the center channel. Is there an issue with the speaker supporting the weight of the tv?
-
Is there any issues in magnetic shielding using a Heresy as a center?
-
I really don't think you'd miss much sticking with 5.1 instead of 7.1....you can always add another 2 in later if you feel it is needed.
-
I'd suggest listening to them before even thinking about buying them....
-
Thanks everyone...got the new caps installed tonight and can definitlely notice a difference. I hadn't soldered in a while, so it took a little bit of time....
-
Thanks!

I bought some caps from Bob Crites a while ago and I'm finally getting ready to recap the Cornwalls...anyone have a simple guide to doing this?
-
how well would Forte mix with Cornwalls?
-
Dang Matt, If I didn't know any better, I would have thought these were brand new!! Did you use them at all? They are perfect[Y] Thanks again for a sweet deal on some awesome rear surrounds!!
Daryl
I'm glad you're enjoying them! I had them set up as rears in a 7.1 system for a little under a year, but didn't use that system a whole lot. I'm glad I sold them and used the money towards a pair of Cornwalls. Those are getting used a lot more...

keep looking and every once in a while a good deal will pop up on ebay

live on two legs
Try the PJ forum...that's your best bet. It took me a while, but I found everything (including old Christmas singles) by Pearl Jam except for Binaural....

They're finally sold....

Here's the parts I use. The file name above is the Parts Express part number.
Will this or any of the other solutions fit in where the old terminal strip is?

Thank you, Mathew. The 12 hour drive (sum of both ways) was so worth
it. Stephanie and myself greatly appreciated your hospitality and I
loved hearing the Cornwalls. The Heresy speakers are a great match to
my old Magnavox 15 watt PP 6v6 amp! It really is startling and lovely.
Even the bass is decent. I am soooo happy.
All the best to you and thanks for making my birthday eventful!!!
Yours,
Vincent
I'm so glad that it worked out well for you! Enoy! -
e-mail sent.
Responded....let me know what you think -
Ok, so they're still available (a few people are trying to work out details, but nothing solid yet)....
-
Nevermind, still available for now....I just set up the Cornwalls. They're so amazing...I can't wait to listen more tomorrow...
-
It seems to have worked. I'll find out for sure tonight at 10.
I just missed a few last week on ebay, so I'm hoping I got lucky.... -
Streyle:
Also an email & a PM sent.
Replied back...let me know... -
I am interested depending on condition and whether or not I can organize transport. Tell me what the "HWO" is all about, and are these Is IIs or something else?
Thanks, VincentI just sent you a PM. Looks like I'll pick up my Cornwalls tonight if everything goes as expected, so these are definitely available.

I have a pair that may become available (I'm working on a deal for a pair of Cornwalls). I'm in the DC area and I'd be looking for $375 for them.

I'll take a picture of the flat cap crossover for you. There isn't any extra wire and may be more difficult than the one picturd (I just finished recapping a pair of Cornwalls and that was easy enough).
