  1. Hello all, Any forum members with Heritage gear anywhere near the Quad Cities (Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Moline and Rock Island, Illinois)? I own RF 3 II's and would love to hear some big old horns before jumping into the used market. Hell, any Chicago guys out there? Three hours drive is not out of the question, if anyone would be so generous as to allow me to listen. I would be interested in hearing any combination of horns and tubes or SS. VOTT, JBL, Heritage; I would love to hear some old high efficiency horns. Nick
  2. I know I'm a phillistine in most things audio, but I am just not at all interested in multi channel. Five good speakers are far more expensive than two and almost every 5 channel amp I've ever heard sounds like hell compared to a good two channel rig. I guess I'm still trying to come to grips with the magic that good old stereo is capable of rendering with the right equipment. Hell, I'm continuously straining my budget to do two channel well, much less 5 channel. Nick
  3. Hi Max, I have a 25th anniversary Linn w/ Lingo power supply and I love it dearly, but I would have to agree that a fully loaded linn is very pricey ( I paid about 3,500 US in 1998 with a benz micro glider cart, and that is with the low-end arm. It is, as your friend Tony says, wonderfully musical(for lack of a better term). I would have to warn that it is very finicky and set up dependent. As much as I love it I am thinking of buying a used VPI with a Emminent Technology linear tracking arm. The suspension of the LP 12 is just a bastard to deal with in the long run, IMHO. Nick
  4. Hello, I understand companies wanting to protect their good, or at least hard earned, name, but this is ridiculous. It's like trying to copywrite "thin and crispy" (pizza hut) or "fair and balanced" (the dreaded Fox News.) Diet Pepsi and Kleenex are not words that regularly appear in the language. Nick
  5. Hello all, Hell, the fact that anything that costs 30 bucks would sound good at all on high efficiency speakers is newsworthy, IMHO. Nick
