No, I meant a preamp. Like a Rotel 1068 or NAD T163. What then do you gain by using a preamp and amp, versus and a/v receiver and an amp?

but now do you need an amp right away? can a preamp run 2 speaker, and then when you get a sub, center, and surrounds, you add an amp?

I don't know much about HT's, but if I start of slowly with a pair of RF 83's, with the eventual expecation of going for a 5.1 system, what do you I want to look for in a preamp and amp? And, if I go with only those speakers first, can I get by with a preamp for awhile, or do I need an amp, too?

So then if I went with the Denon 3805, what would you recommend as an amp to go with it? And, if I intend on buying an amp, should I just get the 2805?

I'm looking into buying RF-7's, then their corresponding suwoofer, surround, and center channel. The receiver I'm looking at is the Denon 3805. Is that a good way to go, or should I consider buying a less/more powerful receiver, and a pre-amp? I'm all confused.

i'm looking into buying a 5.1 series soon. at first i was thinking rb35, yet now, i'm thinking 7 series. if i were to buy my system slowly, could i start with 2 RF 7's and a nice amp, then get the center channel, surrounds and subwoofer down the road? for receivers, btw, i'm looking at the denon 2805/3805

You know why people buy Floorstand versus Bookshelf more often? Don't they produce sound essentially the same?

I'm looking at buying a 5.1 Reference 35 serious with the KW 12 subwoofer. Which receiver might you recommend? I was thinking the Denon 2105. Would I benefit by getting the 2805? I'm completely new to HT. Thanks
