  1. Everything is hooked up properly. Yes it plays, but I have to turn it up to 3/4 volume to even notice its on as before, in the basement, it boomed at 1/4 volume. My mains are Paradigm monitor 7's. You are right about rooms that are located on the first floor above a basement. I didn't think about that as that situation would be similar to mine so I can reasonably rule that out. As far as xovers, I have my Denon AVR-2803 and the sub set at 120.
  2. I have a Velodyne CHT-10 sub that I was using in my old house in Atlanta which was in the basement (approx. 15 x 24). I have since transfered to the New Orleans area just prior to Katrina. My new house is actually in Picayune MS. My new room measures in at 17 x 30. The house is raised up about 3 feet. My new room has wood flooring with nothing under the floor except open space under the house. My problem is the sub seems to not be putting out anything or very little. I have tried to move the sub to different locations with very little improvement. I put a rug under the sub thinking that the bass was being diverted or disspersed into the crawl space under the house. That seemed to help a bit but I know there is something wrong. Maybe the larger room has something to do with it...I just don't know. I have even tried putting the sub in my sitting location and move around the room to see if there is a better position. You guys and gals have been pretty honest in the past, I am looking for some advice. Maybe some one has a similar situation. Thanks in advance Randy
  3. I have a pair of 35's that I use in my 2 channel (LP's only) system hooked up to a vintage Pioneer SX 950. My new house has a wall with built in shelves. The shelves are not tall enough to stand the 35's up vertically without having to cut shelves apart which I don't and will not do. My question is, is their any harm in laying the 35's on their side (horizontal). Will/does this affect the sound quality? Thanks. Any help would be usefull.
  4. I play my vinyl on a Pioneer PL-71 (similar to the PL-51) from the mid 70's and run it through my RB-35's and couldn't be happier...well, yes I could by my wife says I better be happy with what I have.
  5. What do you mean by the "right" 50watts? I'm not sure what "right" 50 watts means either but I have the RB-35's I am using in a 2 channel system with a Pioneer SX-950 (1975ish)reciever. I love them. I'm not even using a sub. There is plenty of low end. Not wall shattering but very enjoyable. Maybe the right 50 watts means 50 watts of tube power vs. 50 watts of solid state power.
  6. Let's not give bad advice here, even though it's April Fools. I'm all for a good joke, but some people might not get it... I GOT IT
  7. I baught a pair of Advent Maestros in 94, loved them, great speakers. Lost them in a divorce. My ex never appreciated good music and ended up using them as plant stands. I watched her water the plants one day and water spilled out of the pot and ran down the front and into the speakers. It drove me to tears. That's the last time I saw her.
  8. I'm not going to get rid of my Paradigms. I really do like em a lot. My wife just doesn't understand or care what is throwing out the music. She would be just as happy with a transistor radio. The other day I went to spin an LP (MOFI Days of Future Past) and she asked..."You're not putting on the Beatles are you"? She tells me she doesn't like the Beatles but she wants me to buy her the Peter Frampton/Bee Gees SGT. Pepper album...Go figure. By the way, the DOFP MOFI sounded absolutely wounderful on those 35's.
  9. Thanks for the kind words. I just don't know where I go from here. I am going to be hard pressed to convince my wife that I need to trade my Monitor 7's for RF 7's.
  10. Hi. My name is Randy and I am a Klipsch newbie...sounds like AA. I have two systems. My surround is Paradigm Monitor 7 fronts, Mini monitors rears and C370 center. My two channel system is an old vintage Pioneer SX-950 receiver and a Pioneer PL-71 turntable with Klipsch RB-35's. In all honesty, I love these 35's and I am surprised at the amount of low end I am getting. I considered Klipsch for my multi-channel system but was talked out of it when a number of people on other forum sites complained about the high end being so bright that it was ear piercing. Don't get me wrong, I love my Paradigms. Anyway, I took a chance with the 35's for my two channel with the thought being that if I didn't like them, I wasn't that much. I am glad I did. Anyway, that's my sad story and I'm sticking to it
