I bought an old Soundcraftsmen model 5150 on Ebay. It's hard to get info on the Soundcraftsmen tube gear-- they're late 60's - early 70's SS stuff seems to be the collector's choice; however, I plugged this in yesterday and connected my Samsung DVD player to listen to some CD's. I connected my Heresy II's to the amp and was pleasantly surprised when the tubes lit up and music came bouncing out of those Heresy's. Even more surprising was how much bass it seemed to push through those Heresy's.
Then I connected the Forte's. Wow! The bass was amazing. I played Diana Krall-- the upright bass was crystal clear and extremely detailed. Now I need a turntable! That amp sounds better than the Rotel 1068/1075 pair i just bought for my theater.
I am now a converted tube believer!
