  1. Paul as you call him ain't said anything. You guys, myself included are doing all the talking. Anybody got me those directions yet?
  2. Amy, Perhaps he's vying for attention? You guys sure like giving him the attention and giving your two cents worth about his threads, making filthy comments and such, until you get caught doing it. Then it's "not me, not me!" "he did it, he did it!".
  3. Now this is a good example of what we "hillbillys" refer to as "big city high brow". I'm sure there's some connection with talk like this and 2-channel audio, but I'm just too much of a hillbilly to get it
  4. Well, I guess you've answered my question, must be some sort of private club. Not a whole lot to do with 2-channel audio, that's a shame. Maybe I'll see some of you over at Lansing Heritage. Thanks for all the fun.
  5. " Technical Questions " area ...????? Perhaps ........ I meant as it relates to 2-channel audio. Maybe this menu item could be renamed "Random Chatter & Soft Core Porn" or "Sexually Frustrated Middle Aged Men" or something similar.
  6. It seems everyone is having a lot of fun and I hate to interrupt, but could someone please tell me where the discussions about 2-channel audio are taking place? I've enjoyed all the "gee golly whiz, look what I got for a nickel" "wow did you see that CD cover" "bet he gets a lot" and the "wow, you know everything there is to know about jazz records Allan" drivel, but where's the place that we talk about caps and resistors and topology and electronic architecture 'n' stuff. Just curious, don't mean to offend. Thanks a million
  7. Replaced all those rolled off, no top end, Electro-Voice T35 Super-Sonax with the Avedon Sonophase Throat pieces of feces, with JBL 2404Hs. It amazes me that Klipsch has used that piece of crap for so long. Maybe if they hadn't, the damn thing would have disappeared long ago, relegated to the great expectations pile in the sky. All the factory network tweaking and after market voodoo in the world can't fix what's wrong with this thing. Listened to them for a while with at least a decent top end..... ......then sold them all to a fellow with bad hearing I did hang on to one pair of Heresys though, to remind me of Paul Klipsch's GENIUS! It's just the mediocre execution that has evolved over the years using cheap, wide tolerance parts that nixed the deal for me
  8. Older Sansui stuff is some of the best to ever come out of Japan, or any where else for that matter. One of the biggest sleepers ever is the 2000 series. I prefer the 2000X. So over built for it's RMS it's ridiculous, heavy as hell. The sound is beautiful, very Mac like and the tuner section kicks ***. You can also pull the hooks on most real Sansui receivers and use them either as an amp or just the pre-amp section. And the best part is that they came with adjustable bias and DC off-set! Half the guys in the world running vintage sand amps don't even know what they really could sound like, or how good, there's so much DC at the taps and the output pairs are so out of sync!
  9. Hi, and Happy Holidays! Ran across this on CL and thought I'd post it here in case it does anyone any good: http://www.craigslist.org/eby/ele/115283939.html Standard disclaimer, they're not mine and I don't know the seller, blah, blah, blah, blah blah... Take care!
  10. Hello to you as well, Parrot, To answer your question, actually neither. At this moment it would probably have to be Cecilia Bartoli: "The Salieri Album". I'm not too big on three chord pop (the Beatles and a few others being the exceptions), or hacks. Hope you and everyone here have been doing well.
  11. Mmmmm....? You're truely an optimist. Congratulations on your find though, it's always a nice feeling to have that kind of thing happen, especially when it's something you really want.
  12. Too much weed [] ! $800.00!?! For Sun Ra?!? Keep dreamin' []

But I would never sit there and gush on and on about the HIEGHT of the "soundstage" or say "listen to Percy Heath's fingers on the fret!" BECAUSE IT WOULD BE DISTRACTING THEM FROM THE MUSIC! And that's all I have to say. ---------------- The poor system he's trying to get them away from provides enough distractions of omission already. Are you saying that when you shop for equipment and audition it, you don't listen for these details and cues? An education for the novice such as this, is what leads to more sales of brands like Klipsch, rather than the typical box store garbage. As far as remaining focused on the elements of fidelity, this soon becomes second nature, second to the MUSIC, like breathing well is second to LIVING, only becoming a problem when it's gone.

Gee whiz, I give CDs to folks who have nothing but boom-boxes and car stereos who have been VERY appreciative and who have had whole new musical worlds opened up to them, even when listening through really crummy stereo equipment. Forest/Trees ---------------- No, not at all. I think it would be safe for me to say that you probably own a more than capable system, yes? Would I be equally safe in saying that if those same folks you gave the CDs to had a chance to hear them on your system they would be very impressed with the improvement in quality, maybe even amazed at the difference, possibly leading them to an upgrade of their own equipment?

  16. ---------------- On 6/16/2005 11:54:27 AM Allan Songer wrote: I think that listening FOR hyper-detail DISTRACTS the listener from understanding the performance. You don't. Such is life. ---------------- That's not his goal, except for the purpose of evaluating your present system and what it is capable of offering. People that are already fortunate enough to own high resolution playback don't have to listen for it, it's there, and just adds to the illusion and pleasure.
  17. I also think this guy has given some good practical meaning to a lot of the adjectives that fidelity enthusiasts throw around all the time. How in the heck is a beginner going to know what "air, bloom, liquid and rightness" mean, as well as a hundred other "audiophile" descriptives, without some real world reference and examples?
  18. ---------------- On 6/16/2005 9:40:57 AM Allan Songer wrote: I have no problem with the music he is listening to! What I was commenting on is that he says NOTHING about the music and EVERYTHING about the recordings: Pay special attention to the bass. It should sound robust and deep, but also very detailed. You should listen closely for the sound of the fingers on the strings, or the strings occasionally hitting the fretboard. Also listen closely to the shaker. Each shake should sound distinct and different from the one before it. It should also sound like its place back in the soundstage (the area the music sounds like it fills). If they sound too similar, listen a couple more times.if still no dice, the system isnt resolving this fine detail. The string sound should occupy the same acoustic space as the rest of the band. The more you listen to this, the more youll understand what high resolution is all about. I still find myself finding new little pieces of detail each time I listen! or Also listen carefully to the reflection of the sound off of the back wall. The more discrete the sound of that reflection, the more detail the system is capable of. Ask yourself as you listen, how much do I believe that a man is standing between those two speakers? Seems to me this guy cares far more about showing off his fancy hi-fi than he does about really falling into the MUSIC. And that BOTHERS me when he is trying to INSTRUCT all of us about how best to enjoy MUSIC. I think it's crap. ---------------- A great deal of a performing artist's genius and music's beauty is very subtle. Too many systems and recordings don't convey this, even live venues. Too many people, for whatever the reason don't even know that this subtle, almost sublime beauty and detail even exist, they've been desensitized to the more delicate nuances of music by years of bad recordings and sound. Most people's greastest exposure to reproduced sound is the television and their car radios. I think this writer has done a GOOD thing by giving examples a novice can use to become aquainted with the hidden treasure he may have been missing and some insight on how he may enjoy it. To me, it's the same help as one gets when guided from a boombox or cheap rack system to a decent amp and some Klipsch, at that point anyone here would make that suggestion to a novice, no matter what kind of music he or she listened to. You'd tell them you'll get more out of it. Right? It's not "crap" at all. Folks that have already benefited from and enjoy the rewards of experience shouldn't berate the efforts of those who are trying to help those that have not. You'll lose a lot of your audience if you start out telling them how they should approach their listening by insisting that they adopt your values. To me, that's the beauty of all music, it can be enjoyed by so many on so many levels.

And yes, the German was both poor and obscene, but it referred to a prior harassing post from you. I thought the little Strauss reference might bring a smile to your day... As to the list, it is accurate, other than possibly number 8. I think I just asked if you were finished yet with the activity mentioned. ---------------- I saw the line you wrote to "Parrot". It wasn't Deutsch or obscene, in meaning anyway. Just a collection of Deutsch vocabulary words that would make no sense at all to a speaker of Deutsch. It was as if a tourist were trying to communicate in another tongue besides his own with one of those books like Barnie would take on holiday. It was very stupid actually.
  22. Take a look at the number of views, 1325 and counting, thread's now in it's forth page. I think this says it all, people secretly like arguing and flaming no matter what they say. Without a team to be on and to root for, a lot of posters wouldn't have anything to talk about. Whenever it gets really ridiculous there's always a time out when everyone licks their wounds, justifies their behavior and talks about how silly it all is. Then they go back and do it all over again.
  23. I've only been here a short while. I've done searches and read the posts made by the "controversial". I've read the crap that's posted in the two channel forum that has little, if anything to do with two channel audio. I can tell you this for certain, most of what I've read convinces me of the fact that you folks are a bunch of BABIES. I've also read a number of posts from the much vilified "Parrot". You people have got to be kidding. To compare this forum to the Lansing Heritage site is a JOKE, there are a MILLION times more here. The only people that get "walked on" at Lansing are dumb posting meaningless tripe. If I am banned for what I just said by your "she police" then so be it. If there is no room for debate, then why have a forum, just buy ad time. For what it's worth, the "Parrot" guy is one of the most clever writers I have ever encountered on an internet forum.
